So many secrets..... how regular to people actually post on here?

I try to post once a day for Spider-Man.

For Cyclops, I might do every other day. But I don't want to go too far...in case someone wants to jump on the X-Men bandwagon.

I'm going to try and get a Venom post up. I've got two villains, but that's really all we have right now. Venom right now is more of a Spider-Man Part II, but I'm going to steer him away from that.

Perhaps a stricter enforcement of the two-week rule on the 3rd character? If a player hasn't posted regularly in two weeks, we suggest that they drop a character. If they do, no harm done. But if they opt to keep all 3 characters, then they must post regularly or a character will be stripped.

Powers: Can make replicants of himself, when snapping his fingers, most other kinetic energy.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Jimmy grew up in one of the rougher areas of Glasgow. He was orphaned at three, and sent to live in a care home. There he was adopted by Dr. Moira McTaggert, at the age of 16. The care home staff reported strange goings on, claiming that he had a gang of friends that wore masks to look like him. When Moira talked with him, she found that they were in fact copies of himself. She then conducted a few tests, which told her what she had already expected, Jimmy was a mutant. She then sent him off to Xaviers Institute for Higher Learning.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. We need X-Men

2. What a cool power.

3. I wanna play a hero.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Im making him from a stroppy teenager with issues, and a talent at innuendo, to a mature adult, with a talent for innuendo.

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): A new hero. A new X-men. A player so dedicated he wrote three sentences for this bit.

What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better): This for Jimmy, and a different colour for each duplicate.

"Whatever. The taxis here now. Itl take me to the airport,"

"Wont you let me drive you?"

"No. Seeyah round Doc," Jimmy said, taking his bag in his hands, and running out to the taxi. As he sat down, he banged his head on the window.

"I'm sorry mum," he whispered, tears falling from his face to the window.

"You're not gonna make it better by crying about it are you?" he said to himself.

I really want to sign up for this, but even with the recent resurgence I can't see this working.

Too many people've signed up for characters and dropped out after making a post or two, which then inconveniences others as they have to change their plans for the character to incorporate other's.

I think the three character rule'll probably contribute to this more, but appreciate that it's being put into place to increase activity.

Character You Would Like To Play: The Mighty Thor

Powers: Believed to be the Norse God of Thunder, can conduct electricity and, using his hammer Moljiner can teleport objects. Hammer also grants flight and can only be lifted by those who are pure.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): Donny Blake was a regular child growing up in Iowa with his father Oswald. On his 18 birthday Donny collapsed outside his house and had a series of hallucinations about Norse mythology, namely about three principal Gods. Thor, Loki and thier father, Odin.
He awoke 3 months later with the belief that he himself was Thor. After that, he traveled the world as a preacher, telling tales of an impending attack from unseen evil forces. During this time he believed his father had bestowed him with the Hammer of Thor, Molijner, he now carries it around as a demonstration of his powers to non-believers. Hes now 23 and is heading for the heart of corruption, NYC.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. I loved Ultimate Thor and plan to do a similar take with some distinctive twists.

2. He's a God. What more reason do you need?

3. Iron Man needs some companions

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Thor is going to be more like his Ultimate counterpart than 616, none of that 'Verily' bollocks, he's going to have very clear objectives, to rid the world of corruption before its used as a tool for evil-doers. He may enlist some help along the way too.

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): To be honest? More characters. Plus a dependable and devoted player who loves to write

Hmm..

Which is why generally we GM's allow you to retcon other players work, IF it's minimal enough and doesn't affect other players.

For instance, Bobby Drake was dropped before the X-Men really formed. Since he didn't interact with any PC's, we sort of retconned him out of existence. Now, the next person who wants to play Bobby will have a clean slate.

This is why I encourage you to participate. If you wish to get a fresh start on someone, we can work something out...within reason.

I think the three character rule should be allowed only to those who have proven themselves as experienced RPers. In other words, you need to earn your 3rd character. That way, we know if the character is given justice, or simply fall victim to the three-post death sentence. I also think that retconning characters left and right is something that can be avoided. I could have retconned Venom, but chose not to because somebody already had started it. I'm not saying make a no retconning rule, simply to encourage people to work with some of the ideas that have already been brought to the table.

On the subject of retconning, I wish it didn't have to be done, but in some cases it cannot be avoided.

From the sounds of it, Oh Snap! wouldn't join unless he had a clean slate. I don't blame him. Sometimes, it's not fun playing someone else's vision. That's why I suggested we see if something can be worked out.
