The "Dawn Of Marvels" RPG Signup/OOC Thread

I don't mind playing characters that have been picked up before, but I just feel the whole vision of this RPG was extremely rushed in the execution.

I thought it'd be more like Marvel: Year One (but in a current time-line), but teams have already been formed and alot of character potential has been a little mucked up. I can still see this working in the short time, sure.. but in the long run? Not so much.

I'm not knocking anybody's individual contributions, nor do I mean any offence; but for example, the AvenG.E.R's have already been established as this universe's counter part of the Avengers, certain characters have been unnecesarily NPC'ed into existence already.

Things just seem a little rushed.

Yeah, Avengers being established already seems incredibly rushed (no offence to any one) I planned on having Thor join Tony's little group of hereos before Avengers, personally I think its unfair to people wanting to join as a character that at some point will possibly be an avenger. Because they wont have a say in the matter, so what if someone playing as cap 'decided' that these guys are already established, its unfair toward the rest. I'm actually kinda miffed.

Discard my Thor Application, changed my mind after this.

That's what I'm saying, it shouldnt be the responsibilities of one person. Captain America isnt The Avengers, The Avengers are a group. Hence it should be down to the individual members of the group to decide what they want to do.

Well, at the beginning of the RPG, Kaboom was the only active Avenger. So there was no one to overrule him. Now that MB is Cap (and by default, the leader), he must decide what to do about the team's formation.

All I'm saying is that I'm glad Spidey is flying solo for a while.

Agreed. The X-Men are fine, because thats mutants banding together for safety, but groups like The Avengers? I think it should be introduced a lot later on.

I think I have a strong feeling for who my character is going to be. Originally, it was going to be Bruce Banner.

But now, I'm thinking Special Agent Danvers of the SIU.

I'm not gonna jump on the three character bandwagon, myself. I'd rather get Cap established before even moving onto a second character.

I honestly don't intend to have Cap on the Avengers when I start out, probably saying the division was shafted by a group falling out. That, or I could retcon, but I'm not overly fond of that.

I think too much has been done for retconning at this point.

Your idea could legitimately work. Or, as I suggested, they disbanded after handling the Hulk's situation.

"Roger that." Reed was sitting in the back seat with a large GPS device in his hand. They were approaching the area that General Ross had said was Diablo's "temple." Esteban Diablo was known as one of the world's top funders of crime in all of Europe, especially with his alleged alchemy experiments.

Johnny chuckled. "I hope Mr. Diablo is ready for a visit from the Fantastic Four!"

"Ah, shut up, kid. I hate hearin' all that garbage! Makes us sound like a bunch of freaks in blue tights or somethin'." Ben stared out the window for a moment, then turned back. "What exactly is our game plan once we've made contact, Reed?"

"Its like we said before, we run in as stealthfully as possible, locate the stones, and get the hell out of there. If we are met with any resistance, we use minimal force." He turned to Johnny. "I'd prefer to keep the headcount low this time."

Johnny shrugged. "Come on, now, Reed. What do you take me for?"

"Holy s***! Is that it?!" Sue pointed at a large pyramid-like structure in the middle of the landscape.

Reed looked down at his GPS, then back at the pyramid. "That's it alright."

"How in the hell is this thing hidden from locals?"

"From my understanding, the locals believe that Diablo's temple is the residence of a strange demon. A devil if you will. Possibly a misconception due to Dr. Diablo's name, which literally translates to 'devil.'"

"Don't myths like that take a long time to become widely spread like that? Most myths like that you hear of take decades. Especially in this area of the world. We're talking over a century. There is no way that a man of Dr. Diablo's age could have been here that long ago. He'd be dead by now."

Reed looked out the window. "I'm afraid that time will answer that question for us, Sue. Let's see if we can land somewhere over in that open field."

Character You Would Like To Play: Shiro Yoshido SUNFIRE

Powers: Stores radiation in his body, and generates it to degree, and is able to release it whenever he wants, in the form of plasma which bursts into flame in contact with oxygen, ionized streams which can enable him to fly. He also has infra-red vision when he wants it, in addition to an immunity to radiation. The fact that he can emit radiation could be considered a power as it can be harmful to most living things.

Basic History Of The Character (Up until this point): During WWII, when the bomb dropped on Hiroshima caused massive radiation, it inevitably caused mutation in following generations, mostly deadly and leaving children as deformed or dead. However in Shiro’s case, he seemed fine. His mother left to go to America, herself being a child of the someone affected by the bomb. After her death, her son Shiro worked as a scientific assistant upon coming of age, and helped out in a nuclear testing ground, that is where we pick up his story…

1. Potentially he has one of the most interesting abilities, with a minor tweak and proper writing, something I wish to explore.

2. I need a character, and I’ve always wanted a situation to explore this character properly in a different light.

3. Are you going to tell him that no-one wants to pick him as a character?

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you changing him or her?): I’m going to focus far more on the nature of radiation, and his temper-mental nature, forming him into a villain.

The beautiful sound of knowledge in motion buzzed, the generators whirling and spinning into life. Dials glowed and flashed with the insurgence of speed within the turbines.

“Shiro, adjust to compensate for additional vibrations.”

Keying in a few figures into the computer, immense and numerous calculations were completed in seconds by the system which the success of the project relied upon.

“Done.”

CLICK……….CLICK CLICK………..CLICK………CLICK CLICK….

“That doesn’t sound right.”

“I’ll go and check it out.”

Leaving his station, the Japanese assistant walked towards the purring cylinders, hoping to find the cause of the unexpected clicking, unfortunately he did.

“We have a problem…”

Incandescent radiance filled every corner of the hall, the cracking sounds of the air itself being torn apart at the molecular level sounded like savage thunder. Smell of ozone and burning were Shiro’s only sensations as the luminescent shine temporarily removed his vision.

Soon his sight returned, and with it, the his eyes were met with chaos, the lab in ruins, his professor a shadow of his former self, smouldering flesh hanged from polished white bones. Eye sockets emptied of their gooey contents by the radiation. It was then Shiro realised the generator was still running down, spewing the leftover radiation into the room. His next realisation was somewhat more startling, how was he still standing, and seemingly fine.

Steeping towards the turbine, placing a warm and adrenaline fuelled hand onto the cold steel, he could sense the radiation as it passed into him, welling up inside.

A resource.

A miracle.

A power.
