Guardians of the Galaxy The Deadliest Woman in the Galaxy: The Gamora Thread

small but agile = doesn't get hit. Plus she's a superstrong alien and thus doesn't necessarily have to follow the same rules humans do.

Heh. Pretty much. She's playing a green-skinned chick who hangs with a talking tree and raccoon and flies around on a spaceship. Her skinniness means diddly poo poo.

Joeyjojo72, I salute you.

So she's confirmed to be green. So that's one less thing people have to worry about.

Her physique is more than fine. Saldana will look great when it's all said and done.

I don't think there's anything to worry about with Zoe Saldana as Gamora. (That's not a dig at your comment, Craig)

She's just a brilliant choice.

I hope Saldana is not a dark green but a nice shade similar to the Orion slave girls in Star Trek. That said, for some reason Rachel Nichols didn't look as great in her make up as previous Orion Slave girls in the series. Maybe it was her hair colour and bright lips.

I think a green girl needs darker hair and maybe green lipstick or it can look a bit garish otherwise. I didn't really like the underwear she was wearing in Star Trek either. I think it clashed with her green skin. I think the most natural look for them was actually in the Enterprise episode "Bound".

Saldana has time to put a bit of muscle on before filming, but really, her physique isnt a problem, she is playing a super-strong alien, and i'm sure it will look convincing on screen.

I don't think Gamora is meant to be muscly. I think she's more lithe and dangerous. More of a sabre then a bazooka.

I'm so glad they're using makeup for this. To me it always looks way better and it helps the other actors to see where the other person is without having to wear a dorky green suit with white bubbles.

I hope Zoe and the guy who's playing Drax don't mind spending alot of time in the makeup chair though. I wonder if they'll be trained to speak with accents to make them more alien?

Hmmm I'm not sure if I like Zoe Saldana having the role of Gamora. She already appeared in the Star Trek movies and Avatar, so I wanted someone more unexpected for the role. I was looking forward to Gamora but now that Zoe Saldana is playing her, not anymore.

That's all it takes? Her being in other sci-fi franchises? It's not new.

I know its not new. But an actress who haven't appeared in a sci-fi movie as an alien or part of an outer space crew would have been more interesting and refreshing.

I agree. It's like she's the go to choice for sci-fi now. I wanted a more inspired choice.

She could've been a bit more filled out with muscle, or even just a bit of meat on her bones. I think her face looks a little thin, almost gaunt at certain times. I don't know how that will affect her look and whether the make up will end up hiding that or emphasising it. Sometimes full face make up can make a person look older depending on whether they already look worn out, tired or have wrinkles already because it highlights it even more. I hope this won't be the case with Saldana.

What exactly does she say? It says the video can't be viewed outside of the US. :(

The site that isn't allowed to be mentioned handily phrases it, thus:-

“It feels unique, but it doesn't feel like it hasn't been done before. I loved the levity in the script and I liked the casting of Chris Pratt. I've been a fan [of his] and I think his gifted natural comedic timing might come in handy to play someone like Star-Lord. I was just excited to be asked to join by James Gunn and to also play someone green. I've been blue before. I'm in the process right now of the evolution of conceiving Gamora's look. It's exciting! We're trying to work out comfort also, because you know that I definitely want to be involved in the stunt-doing of my character.”

I think Zoe is a great choice. I fail to see how casting someone who has never done sci-gi before would be more interesting or refreshing. Theirs a reason Gunn chose her and I trust him until proven wrong.

She's done two sci-fi movies. Avatar and Star Trek. And both of those movies did very well. Hopefully she brings the good luck street to Guardians.

Just for my own curiosity who would have been your "inspired" choice.

A good actor/actress becomes less interesting to you the more genre pictures they are in, regardless of the character they are playing?

No offense, but I honestly dont understand that thinking.

So only if you like the actor.
