The Doctor Doom Thread

Johnny Depp is too old for Doom and I wouldn't cast him for it anyway. I don't see Jack Sparrow when I see Doom, and that's largely been all he has done from 2000 onward.

Doom needs to be similar age to Reed. These 60+ year old suggestions like Depp or Esposito just don't work
Some people have suggested that Doom could be older than Reed, and I kinda think it'll work.

Depp has actually done a couple of serious roles the last 20 years, though people tend to forget this. He was really good in Michael Mann's Public Enemies.

But having 1 good performance doesn't make you right for Doctor Doom. Also, isn't Depp in his 50s or 60s? Even if Krasinski ends up as Reed, which is old as they would go, that is a 20ish year gap. That is beyond a slight difference in age.

I don't see Disney casting him again either, but if anyone I could see Depp being Dracula.

Wouldn't give him the keys to Latveria though.

I too don't see them casting him in anything. But of the suggestions people have given for him, I think he best fits Mephisto. I could see him being a good choice for that

I've watched Secret Window an obscene amount of times. Love that film and his performance. Love the novella too.

he was great as whitey bulger

i think this is your best post so far. Depp can be scary when he is locked in. Can he be another MCU villain such as Mister Sinister? Mephisto? Very likely
Thank you :D:

But.... is it my best post in this thread.... or the best post out of the 8000+ I've written?

I think Depp can be a villain or a supporting character in a CBM.
The thing with him, though, is that he might suit the more dark DC films than anything MCU.

Public Ememies was an example of Depp's serious roles the last 15-20 years, and I stated there are a couple of those.
I didn't say PE was his only good performance, but I mentioned it because it was quite well-known film (at the time of release, atleast).

My point is that Depp is capable of more than the fun characters he usually plays.

And then to the age thing... Depp is 16 years older than Krasinski.

Which isn't an acceptable age gap. At that point, Doom would had to have been Reed's teacher. Not a contemporary he knew at university. It is a different dynamic. They need to be in the same age range, not have one old enough to be the other's father

You’re welcome

If BP: WF is supposedly having a debut on 10/25 I think for critics guess we might find out shortly after if Doom is in it???

The people given this early access are usually pretty disciplined.

… but the information will be out there and somebody might blab.

Yes, you are correct...Take my other passion for instance....horror movies, especially Halloween (the original is my all-time favorite film)...tomorrow is Halloween Ends...I know the general plot but I am avoiding the key plot points involving Jamie Lee Curtis's Laurie Strode and her final battle with Michael Myers....BUT IF i am given a chance to click on a link to reveal any involvement of Doom, I will probably take it...I would rather go into Wakanda Forever, knowing he is there (and done justice) then to go in totally surprised and be disappointed if either A) He is done an injustice (i.e. looks, motivations, etc) or B) All the hype and rumors saying he is in it only for him to NOT even be there

On this point, I definitely want spoilers when they’re available.

I definitely would go Adam Driver as Doctor Doom

I don't know if this guy has been mentioned before, but has anyone ever heard of Charlie Clapham? He has a Victor look and check out his background...I smiled HUGE when I read one sentence

Charlie Clapham - IMDb

I like that choice, he'd smash it. I'd have Jon Hamm or maybe even Clive Owen for Doom.
How come you think about Clive Owen for the role?

What is the acceptable age difference between Doom and Reed?

I think Doom can be older but that's as far as I went with it. Owen was more of an afterthought. I'd have Hamm over him any day.

Personally, I believe that Clive Owen can be quite menacing when a character asks for it.

Embargoed until 11/8.

Marvel really doesn't want spoilers getting out. Wonder why.

I’ve been watching rings of power and I really love what they did with Sauron. I kind of wish they would do something like that, like a nameless fear who’s presence is always felt even when he’s not there
