Transformers The Energon Cube will be called the Allspark

This was recently reported by a poster on the Don Murphy boards from TFLive.com boards where one of the writers, Alex Kurtzman, reveals that the name Energon Cube was only a placeholder for the Allspark.

Well, I disagree with you on that one. I hated it being called The Energon Cube. Allspark makes total sense...... however, furbies coming to life is still stupid.

The term "Energon Cube" may be a staple... but it sure as heck never did what it does in this movie. They were simply gasoline tanks of sorts. The Creation Matrix is what bestowed life (sentience) in the original comic books... and Allspark was a term in the latter cartoons I think.

So I'm glad they changed it.... although it would be very cool to see the Decepticons siphoning an oil rig or something and filling up real energon cubes on the big screen.

Alas... I don't think Michael Bay wants any hippie themes in his pro-military movie.

Furbies coming to life aswell as I-PODS and Furbies? This gizmo gives life to anything Mechanical Hence AllSpark because a Spark is needed to make a Transformer operate!

I think that calling the artifact the Allspark makes sense - I like that name much more than "energon cube" - since Energon has always been an energy source.

Plus is neatly sidesteps the confusion of Creation Matrix & Leadership Matrix issue that came about with TF:TM.

Matrix was/is still the best name but Allspark is helluva better than the Energon Cube.
