Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

Now is it just me, or does it possibly look like Thena is going to be Margo Damian? Because I’m getting serious Indiana Jones/archaeologist vibes from that outfit. Maybe she starts out as Margo, then discovers that she’s Thena? There were all those rumors that Margo was the lead, and this could make sense. I think. I don’t know the comics well enough to say for certain, of course.

I think they've since decided to make Dane Whitman the human POV character since then, so I'm thinking she's still just Thena. They'll have her be a thoughtful warrior type.

But you could be right. It would explain why she's is holding onto a purse (unless that's Jolie's).

Would an archeologist really be out in the field in a dress (a white one at that)?

I don’t know, it just reminded me of something that, say, Marion from Indiana Jones would wear, or something like that: it’s got that sort of sixties or seventies look to it. Or maybe thats just me.

Take this with a grain of salt

Marvel's Eternals Cast Photo Hints at a Role for Dan Stevens

A recent photo with cast members from Eternals has sparked speculation that Legion's Dan Stevens may have joined the ensemble. Directed by Chloé Zhao, Eternals will be the second movie in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a November 2020 release date. Marvel Studios finally confirmed this summer that Eternals is happening, with the movie heavily featured at both San Diego Comic-Con and D23.

TL;DR: While on a sightseeing tour on Fuerteventura, I stumbled across the set for Marvel's "Eternals". The set contained a reconstruction of the Ishtar gate, entrance to Babylon, capital of the old Persian empire, which will be featured in the movie.

Well, that’s really interesting. I absolutely love history, so this could easily end up becoming my favorite Marvel movie by default if it features lots of historical locales with a fantasy twist.

So those set photos are absolutely beautiful. The only quibble is that, while Babylon was sort of a capital of the Persian Empire, the main royal capital was Persepolis. Babylon was the capital of, appropriately enough, the Babylonian Empire of Hammurabi and Nebuchadnezzar's fame.

Ancient Babylon borrowed significant cultural influence from the more ancient Sumerian culture. That culture was responsible for the Epic of Gilgamesh, which would have been known to the Babylonians. Given that Gilgamesh is a character in the movie, that makes a ton of sense.

I wonder if that green and black sweater is meant to imitate the classic Sersi costume. In the second photo it kind of looks that way.
Anyway, she looks great.

Don't know if this was ever posted here but the cast describes their characters

-Ajak is the leader of the group who brought them to Earth and is a healer
-Phastos is the inventor and the logical one who lost his faith in humanity
-Kingo was told to keep a low profile but defied that and became a Bollywood star
-Makkari is a speedster, location scout and stores knowledge of the planet
-Druig can control minds
-Gilgamesh is stong, warm and funny
-Spite can create illusions and is a storyteller

Hmm... Most of that sounds very much like a deviation from the source material. Especially since the Eternals didn't come to Earth, but were created from the same ancestors of humanity. And they lived on Earth in their cities for millennia. In the source material an offshoot went out into space forming the Titan Eternals that eventually gave rise to Eros and Thanos. But as far as I remember literally every single of those characters listed was born and raised on Earth in the comics.

Would love to see the Eternals perspective on key moments in the MCU and find out why they didn't interfere.

Looks amazing. I don't think the MCU (the movies) have featured ancient times in Earth in the past, so it looks quite new to me.
Probably. She’s wearing a lot of green and I’m sure that’s on purpose ;)
Green is Sersi's favorite color.
