I think you have no understanding what people mean when they use the word "privilege" in the context of these conversations. Most don't. Granted most choose to be willfully ignorant.
This isn't something invoked to suggest all Caucasians of the Western world are rich, or have access to elite influence or the like. It's about how statistically speaking as well as culturally, there is a skewing towards "White" people over others. It's connected to things like say, the differences in sentencing between those caught with powder cocaine and those caught with crack cocaine. It's about how many get called back for an interview when the resume' is identical but one has the name Chad or Ian at he top and the other has say, Leroy or Juan at the top. It's about how when a White person goes into a shopping mall they don't think twice about being able to walk around the stores inside without looking over their shoulder being shadowed by security (I'm sure the rebuttal her is "Well... There are more minority criminals" but your response above wants a "Not everyone carve out" for Whites...Well... That actually applies here. Why should EVERY Hispanic or Black person have to deal with automatic suspicion in society because of the actions of others in their group? A MINORITY, within their group, literally?). White privilege is that most parents in this age of LOW CRIME we have been living in for thirty years don't say a prayer for the safe return of their children when they go out at night to have a good time with their friends, for fear that they might be shot armed with nothing but Skittles. White privilege is not being arrested in front of your house for absolutely nothing because someone called the police on you even though you own the property and are a Harvard educated professor. White privilege is knowing that more likely in a fictional story put out by the mass media of the last 100 years that you will be presented with a main character or subject of the story being told that will reflect you and your family. The media will tell you that you are inherently worthy of consideration, in other words. White privilege is that in the media and culturally when the inner cities were ravaged by the scourge of crack cocaine and heroin thirty and forty years ago it was framed by people of a certain political persuasion as being a question of moral character. "Just say no" or "Those animals just can't control themselves" were common responses that in no way take into any consideration the complexity of how people get addicted or the way drugs work in society, BUT... In the modern era of "Heartland"/"Small Town" America being ravaged by Opioids or Meth the response of those self same people that dismissed the addiction issues of the Inner Cities (READ: Blacks and Hispanics) as moral failings NOW think that we need to emphasize compassion and understanding of the poverty and struggles in the communities of the White working class of "Real America" (Notice... That idea? That "Real America" is some majority White town away from the coasts? Yeah... That's White Privilege too...) which causes turning to self medication.
What it's not is saying that EVERY SINGLE "WHITE PERSON" is rich. It's not saying that every single white person is free from difficulty or struggle in their life. It isn't saying that your own personal pains and burdens don't matter if you are "White". And it's not saying that we shouldn't care about those things either.
It does mean that across a wide swath of society, government and culture that White individuals are beneficiaries of certain considerations they themselves can't or choose not to see.
Someone who is a fully formed adult not ruled by emotion should be able to figure this out and not jump to the conclusion that they are being told that they are personally guilty of something or that their own life's struggles and tragedies are being demeaned, but alas... Maturity as a quality is hard to find across any Ethnicity or Nationality on this little planet.
