Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

Hmm so Millie is saying she’s not part of it now? Maybe she’s been cast but not as a lead, just an after credits type role and she doesn’t want to give the game away just yet
Yes, because she's just going to come out and say she's been cast. Paul Rudd wasn't Ant-Man either and Momoa wasn't Aquaman..

yeah... she definitely isn‘t part of this...until next saturday lol

I"m sure you know what it means and the problems with only casting mixed, white passing and sell it as diversity or poc card. lol

I actually find that thought offensive. There's a legitimate problem with lighter-skinned people of color getting crap both from racist white people as per usual, but along with darker-skinned people of their own race for "not being black enough", like it's a choice they're making.

Diversity is diversity. People of color are people of color, regardless of the exact shade. How dare you try to make that distinction. You don't get to say that Lupita N'yongo is somehow more diverse than Halle Berry because her skin is darker, that's problematic as hell.

So far this cast has actors of Pakistani, Mexican and Asian descent. I'm sorry that you don't consider their ethnicities to be real enough for you. All of those people are POC whether you think they're dark enough or not. Those people are diverse whether you're okay with the amount of melanin in their skin or not.

That's good. But they shouldn't have emphasized on a divers cast, nobody even asked them to.

You're flat out rejecting reality if you think "nobody even asked them to." There's a million think pieces for every new Marvel movie about diversity, representation, etc. You can blatantly refuse facts, but don't be surprised when everyone around you is rolling their eyes.

And again, it's frankly INCREDIBLY offensive that you get to decide that a Pakistani actor and a Mexican actor aren't diverse because you don't think their skin color is the right shade.

Tell me, do your Klan robes itch?

Take a deep breathe.... At the time I posted this, the Mexican actress was not yet casted and I had no idea a Pakistani actor was already casted. Klan robe? :funny:

Anyway glad to see Selma attached to this. For those familiar with the Eternals, how many main characters should we be expecting?

Maybe wait until you know the full cast then before making comments on diversity?

my post was just about the idea of selling diversity with "keanu reeves".
and I wasn't even talking about black's light skin/dark skin issue.
Also I didn't say this movie is not diversity or not enough.
reaching and overreacting too much?

yeah.. I don't buy this. zero credible source and reports, seems like just mistake from variety.

I can make comments about the cast whenever I want. And nothing I said warranted the "Klan robe" comment.

Eternals are picking up steam and have finally drawn me into this thread to learn more about the project - - instead it's a lot of nonsense on this here page...lol. Early on I wasnt excited about this project and I really wanted to be-- now I'm genuinely excited and that's partly because it's the first time that I'm completely ignorant about almost everything a out this movie (as well as the comics).

The rumored castings and no clarification until Kevin is ready is adding to the excitement - - u guys think that's intentional? I guess also since I've now seen Far From Home my attention is now turned to Phase 4.

Do we know the time frame for this movie? Is it present day or back when it all started. My friend said the Eternals are a great introduction to mutants--is the movie going that far back??

Guess we'll be learning more in the coming weeks.

I’m sure most of these questions will be addressed in one way or another in a week. Hoping they make a bunch of casting announcements and who they are playing at SDCC and maybe even get some concept art!

I hope they bring the cast on stage like they did Brie.

I sure they will. It’s kind of a big moment.

It’ll be nice to hear Chloe speak and hear her vision of the movie too. Good times ahead

The Leader, as in Samuel Sterns with the big head whom we saw in Incredible Hulk? Or just a leader of the Eternals?
