The FFINO ZONE - Part 1

Why are people writing in spoiler tags or blackout bars in this thread?

If you're posting in this thread, I assume it means you don't like the idea of this movie and have no intention of seeing it, so you don't care if there are spoilers or not. I can understand spoilers in another thread, but it doesn't really make sense in here given the nature of the people posting. And it's not like those who do like the film will come here.

I know for myself, I'm just going to read all the reviews, even if it contains huge spoiler material, because I am not paying to watch this crap.
I did it because I'm sure some FFINO supporter will whine to some Mod about people posting spoilers, blah, blah, blah. They are all on edge with what's been common knowledge among F4 fans for months now.

Story's Doom was some sort of weird UFF/Norman Osborn hybrid "Doom" and now we have Trank's
Annihilus-Doom.
Not particularly inspiring, to say the least.

What's wrong with a proper 616 Doom?

616 Doom can hold his own movie. A damn shame.

They should've spared us the insanely crappy doom costume and made the villain Annihilus. Wouldn't have changed the story much from what I've read.

Books of Doom is the perfect way to introduce Doom. At the end of the movie, have him see a tv set with the F4 saving NYC from a monster invasion from middle Earth. I'd rather see a Doom movie than an Antman or Dr. Strange movie. :o

Should have just made the villain freaking Annihilus and set Doom up as having a major presence. Now they have Doom-in-name-only for three films now.

Haha well I'd love to see them all equally. I loved Books of Doom.

Making a proper 616 doom requires giving a damn and effort?

Indeed.

It just strikes me as so odd that Doom is such an iconic comic book character yet all heretofore cinematic efforts to bring him to life have made him nothing but a placeholder for a plot-tailored, made-up composite character bearing little if any semblance to the legend that is 616 Doom.

I mean, If you're not gonna do Doom right, don't do him at all. Otherwise, what's the point?

After how frustrating the past 10 years have been, I'm almost afraid to hope, but after the rumors that Fox and Marvel might be talking popped up (at the beginning of July?) I thought at the time: "Well they probably won't finalize anything until after Fantastic Four, but I could imagine some contingencies such as X will happen if FF does well, but Y will happen if FF does poorly."

So here's hoping Y involves the rights going back to Marvel.

Fox has absolutely no right to even pretend they're going to make another film after this.

Most people must think Doom is a cheesy one-note villain by now.:csad:

The problem is worse than that: Fox doesn't understand and doesn't know what to do with Doom. I don't think they've ever known what to do with these Marvel characters. Sure we've had some good X-Films, but even there I think Fox has always seemed to be at odds with these characters, trying to turn them into something they're not because they don't get what makes them interesting in the source material.

Fox doesn't understand Doom. Never has. Never wanted to.

(ETA: Corman Doom is exempt from this criticism: but I think we all want something better than a B-movie).

This is actually a good thing. Since Fox hasn't even tried to do Doom, Marvel can do him right and nobody will even know it's supposed to be the same guy.

They're not even supposed to be in this thread, so if they venture in and see spoilers, then it's their problem isn't it?

Anyway here are some other reviews:

Variety:

Ultimately, Fox’s stab at reviving one of its inherited Marvel properties feels less like a blockbuster for this age of comics-oriented tentpoles than it does another also-ran — not an embarrassment, but an experiment that didn’t gel. And having seemingly missed twice in trying to get “Fantastic Four” right, the studio, unlike Reed, might want to think seriously before making any more trips back to the drawing board..

Digital Spy: Dark and gritty does not suit this Marvel muddle

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/...-suit-this-marvel-muddle.html#~pkrALcOB0QFKQD

The biggest mistake here seems to have been trying to marry a dark and realistic tone with the story of four teenagers whose superpowers include transforming into rock, generating force fields and becoming very stretchy. While far from the unmitigated disaster some had predicted, Fantastic Four feels unlikely to kick-start a new franchise, barely sustaining the narrative steam to power itself through its modest 90-minute running time.

This is the twitter of the guy who said something about clobberin time. Seems pretty reputable to me.

Here's how boring Fantastic Four is: there are two major action scenes in it. One is the accident. The other is the climax. That's your lot.

Which explains the constant recycling of the same visuals in every trailer and T.V. Spot.

stop hoping Willie. you'll only end up constantly disappointed.
Watch Incredibles instead . That's as close as we're going to get.

If by some miracle something does get worked out, then it'll come as a nice surprise.

I am so sick of you FF know-it-alls, yes the comic Reed would leave his friends in captivity for a year--- they're being guarded.
How would he set them free? Who would help him? Who would give him a plan of action?
Just because he was an 8 year old who inventedinter-dimensional travel doesn't mean he's a brilliant strategist!

As FFINO makes its world debut, Honest Trailers takes on the Fantastic Four (2005) and FF:ROTSS (2007):

If you are looking forward to this movie. You are not allowed in here. As stated by the mod that made this thread

Kelly is going to be so disappointed. She wanted for there at least to be a strong role for Sue....from what I have read so far, that didn't happen.

She should think of it this way. At least Sue did not go on the drunk trip

I WAS looking forward to it, but Fox took away Trank's grit and replaced it with *****.
The original 130 minute Trank cut was probably gritty masterpiece. Now I'm waiting for the Director's Cut.

After Trank's comment about comic Sue being a ****ty secretary he probably thought it was a strong role. Kelly shouldn't have gotten her hopes up.
