The film's continuity with the X-Men franchise

Is involving X-Men in the Fantastic Four franchise the right move?

  • Yeah! Bring it on. Can't spell Fox without an F or X.

  • No. Please make this plan go away.

  • We'll just have to see what happens.

  • All Marvel movies should be compatible.

DAYS OF FUTURE PAST would be a good place to introduce the FF into the X-Universe and then spin of the solo movie from that...

I think its too early and X-Men: Days of Future Past is already featuring a lot of new things, they might even resurrect Cyclops and Jean at the end of the movie. It would just feel too much if they even include a cameo or a teaser for the Fantastic Four.

I think Wolverine or the X-Men appearing at the end of the 2015 Fantastic Four movie would be a better option.

I think it'd be great if F4 and X-Men coexisted but I'm fairly certain that Fox will NOT do that until they are sure that F4 will perform well. By tying the rebooted franchise to their already popular X-Men one, it could end up hurting it in the long run if F4 does terribly.

Right now, I think I would be thrilled for a cross-over film with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, BUT the Fantastic Four movie series has to be a successful film franchise first and release a trilogy. Then after a successful trilogy, I think they should go ahead with the cross-over film with the X-Men, it could be a big hit and great if they have a great story/crew!

Good point, they'll likely test the waters first. Love them or hate them Fox will likely make X-Men movies forever. However they probably wont integrate the two franchises until they nail FF.

The success of the FF reboot will dictate the potential of these worlds uniting.

I hope the Fantastic Four reboot bombs so that they can go back to Marvel. The Fantastic Four work in the MCU they bring so much to the universe, Reed interacting with Tony Stark, Hank Pym and Bruce Banner is great in itself. The Fantastic Four should not team up with the Avengers, but Reed can pop up in some of the movies (like Iron Man) because of his profession. The Fantastic Four would focus on the cosmic side of the MCU and fit effortlessly with that Universe.

It's harder and makes less sense to join the X-Men and Fantastic Four in a movie for reasons said before. I think that the X-Men should stay at Fox, they work better in their own universe it avoids having to explain the reason why mutants are treated differently compared to meta-humans. They don't need the MCU and it doesn't need them, they have enough characters and villains to work by themselves.

I would love to see the FF in the MCU. However, you should never wish for a film to bomb just so that the rights go back. Crossovers are a lot of fun but the story and quality of the FF films themselves should come first IMO.

Of course they should test the waters first. I feel like Fantastic Four should only work with the X-Men, when its already a successful film series or at least released 2 successful films.

Anyway, I'm really hoping for FOX to get this reboot right because this might be the only chance in 10 to 20 years that we will see the X-Men in a cross-over film that features another superhero/superhero team that doesn't fall under the X-Men category/brand.

I keep seeing 'news' that X-Men & FF movies are crossing over. No, they're not. They exist in same universe but movies stand alone.

Note to web journos: FF & X-Men are NOT crossing over. Existing in shared universe does NOT mean a crossover movie, excitable ones...

I'd rather have FF in the MCU but I'll wait and see if this can work.

I'd like to buy this post dinner.

Yes, let's get a good set of F4 films first, before we start thinking crossover.

We don't even know at this point where the new F4 sit in the X-Men timeline - do they originate in the 70s? 80s? 90s? the future?

I do have my doubts that the F4 reboot will be a big success but I'm prepared to give it a chance. The news on this has been slow though, with no casting announced yet.

Fox Has No Plans to Cross X-MEN & FANTASTIC FOUR!?!?
Mark Reilly said:
According to a well placed source of ours close to the production of FF, Fox has NO PLANS to cross the universes together. That’s right, we can finally put the rumors to rest. It ain’t happening. At least… not yet.

According to our source, Fox REALLY wants FANTASTIC FOUR to stand on its own without having to bring in some X-Men to help the movie along. Our source confirms there’s not even a whisper of this happening because, as mentioned, Fox wants FF to do well enough to warrant another sequel and then another and so on and so forth.

I doubt FOX could crossover the two separate character families even if they wanted to. The FF and the X-Men licensing agreements were distinct contracts signed at different times with unique terms. Unless someone at FOX had the foresight to include crossover language in both contracts when they were signed back in the 90s, a mash-up will likely require Marvel's sign-off.

I doubt Disney / Marvel will allow a crossover to happen (base on contracts alone) for the x-men / FFINO without having something in return...SS & Galactus anyone?
