I think it's more "awe" on Flash's part. With GA, I think it's more about respect and even maybe affection (by proxy through Felicity). Also, I really like what we saw of Iris in the trailer. If she's like this throughout the show, then I'm going to like her character a lot.

Did I see Professor Zoom? I don't know who killed Barry Allen's mom in the comics so I'm a bit unsure.

Yep, that is Zoom
And he did kill Barry's mom after Barry's return and before the reboot

I agree. The trailer looked pretty good, my only qualm is the costume. The overall production value was pretty solid, so I'm a little surprised the costume looks the way it does. Just a tiny issue, otherwise I'm sold.
So what exactly is the deal with the DC cinematic universe? Will this show be connected to the movies? And if so, will they be connected to Gotham as well (I know gotham happens in the past, but they could still be set in the same universe)?
I've tried looking it up but I can't find the answer, if there even is one. Can someone clear this up for me?

Its Likely it did look like Zoom and if it is he will probably be the Big Bad for Season 1.

It's clear he will be the overall series villain.

Anyone else notice the subtle hints to what will obviously be the Flash theme which we heard a short snippet of? I think I'm going to get goosebumps when the full thing plays out over the first episode.

Little off-topic: I'm not too familiar with The Flash, is there any essential comics/story lines I should read if I want to get to know the character a little better?

I just hope they don't turn her into a nagging drama-harpy like Lana from smallville and Laurel/ Thea in the first season and half of arrow.

The trailer is awesome. It felt like I was watching a feature film instead of a TV pilot. The Flash is going to feel like a weekly short movie series. I hope they can adapt Flashpoint, Born To Run, Flash of Two Worlds, and Crisis On Infinite Earths among others.

They would definitely save those for movies, plus I don't think a TV budget could handle the scope of some of those stories. Sure the effects in the trailer were awesome but they would have to include so much more than speed to really hit the essence of the stories you mentioned.
