Set pics have pretty much shown that Barry and Caitlin aren't hooking up.

[BLACKOUT]The ones with her in the wedding dress?[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, so it'd be pretty drastic for Caitlin to want to be with Barry and vice versa given how the characters have been presented.

Which is too bad. Because I like Iris with Eddie, and I definitely ship SnowBarry. Although I ship SnowStorm. I could ship the three of them together and get the best of both worlds...

Anyway, forgive the phrasing, but Ronnie is probably toast. I suspect that between the actor's movie career and the desire to push Caitlin into KF, that Ronnie will be dead sooner rather than later.

Barry is cool with hitting on women at inappropriate times, so it could work.

I'm not sure about Ronnie since he isn't in that new TV show. At least not art of the main cast anyway.

Yeah, Barry is pretty bad at respecting boundaries it seems. But, I don't think Caitlin is.

Is she supposed to be marrying Ronnie?

It looks like it.

Barry hasn't shown any romantic interest in Caitlin. It's pretty clear that Iris is the only woman he wants. If anything were to happen between Barry and Caitlin, it would probably be more of an "unrequited love" scenario where Caitlin feels more for Barry than he feels for her (the writers have already kinda teased that, I think) or they hook up and Caitlin ends up heartbroken when Barry inevitably (re)unites with Iris. I don't wish to see that for Caitlin so hopefully, the relationship stays platonic.

As for Ronnie,
the actor has already confirmed that he's returning for season 2.

Well Ronnie is Firestorm and on the run, so it will probably be rushed if they get married this season. Although Eiling seems to be loosening up with the Flash, so he might stop hunting Firestorm.

I seriously doubt it. CW seems more obstinate than that.

Well, looking at Arrow, it seems more like they commit to stuff for a season, then reevaluate. Ollie/Laurel wasn't working, so used Ollie/Sara as a distraction for a season (I don't think they ever planned on that one lasting) now this season is Ollie/Felicity (which hopefully they'll learn their lesson from).

I was kind of hoping Barry/Iris would be abandonned in favour of Barry/Linda, but in fairness that was because I like Malese Jow. Hopefully this was the Iris season, and they'll have someone else for him next season, or else they manage to fix it so they are in a happy relationship, but it's the will they/won't they nonsense that bugs me the most.

I kind of wish that this show had someone like Julie Plec to handle the romance stuff, because she seems to actively enjoy slapping shippers in the face and has a Whedon-esque ability to give characters that crowning moment of happiness before ripping it away.

Anyway, that was way off topic, sorry. tl;dr: I hope they can have some better more relatable romance next season, and maybe a functional relationship.

At this point, there's only ONE other option for Barry Allen when it comes to his love life. Introduce Patty Spivot

In the New 52 Continuity, Barry entered a relationship with her instead of marrying Iris. She also works at the Central City Police Department as well.

Patty's profession allows her to easily get involved with a lot of the main arcs that goes on with Barry's Flash duties.

Plus, one could argue that with the Reverse Flash and the Original Flash having created a new timeline where Barry's mother was killed during his childhood, it could allow Barry to end up with someone else other than Iris.

Sounds good to me!

Barry isn't managing his case load with the police department according to Captain Singh (even with his super speed). And surely with all the new metahuman crimes, the police department could use a second forensic scientist. Barry's lab is certainly big enough to fit a second employee.

The writers just spent the last two episodes showcasing Iris as Barry's anchor, his "lightning rod", the person who "powers" The Flash. "Without you, there wouldn't be The Flash," utters The Flash himself.

They've not only presented Iris as the only woman Barry wants, but the one person he needs. I think the chances of him ending up with anyone else are very, very slim.

Now, I wouldn't rule out Patty coming on to the show at some point but based on what I've seen so far and where the writers seem to be headed, I can't see her as anything more than a temporary romance for Barry.

I don't see how Barry can have a normal relationship with anyone else anyway. The writers have written themselves into a corner with Barry and Iris that doesn't allow much room for natural character growth. Anything they do besides having them start to date will be pointless.

Unless the future somehow changes. That would be nice.

Well, I'd like to think that if Arrow could go from having Oliver madly in love with Laurel in Season 1 to having hm crazy about Felicity by Season 3, that anything is possible for Barry. Lol

I really wish that someone, who was in a position to do so, would have thebguts to call out the producers on their Iris crap and point out all of the flaws that the character has.

Sad but true. :hehe:

Great episode. Grodd was done very well, although it was strange that he speaks disjointedly and is writing crazy equations on the wall. I didn't like how he was taken out with a second train on the same exact rail out of nowhere and not even a minute later, but I will say that seeing him block the sonic punch was just the right thing needed to show Grodd's strength. The mind control blocker they created should have at least had a chin strap to keep it secure, but I still give them credit for being able to rely on themselves.

As for Iris, I like that she will be part of the team and taking on Wells' role for giving Barry the confidence he needs to fight. I don't like how they executed her revealing she knew. Just to waltz into Star Labs when they should be on lock down without so much as an alert to someone being on the premises was kind of dumb. The fact that she doubles down on Barry just like she did with Eddie is ****ed up.

And speaking of Eddie, I felt so bad for him after Wells basically said he's the redheaded stepchild of the family lineage.

That's probably because Grodd's intelligence is currently still being developed. Once he gets smarter he'll speak better and write less equations.

That's what I figure too. The next time we see him, I predict he'll be a lot more literate with none of the Tarzan speak.

The funny thing is they sort of grew up as brother and sister and that is exactly how they feel onscreen.

Joe views Barry as his kid. Barry views Joe as a father figure. It's all really weird for me. I know that in Clueless, for example, they show step-siblings hooking up...but they weren't raised together, nor do either of the kids seem to have a strong parental bond with the step-parent.

The whole romantic love thing feels very off for Barry and Iris. And really, Barry is kind of a jerk when it comes to his feelings for Iris, and Iris is...Iris. I want to like her, but I still don't. :cmad:

I remember feeling the ick when I saw Clueless, but then I realized that they didn't grow up together and weren't all that close. They seemed like distant more than anything.

I don't feel the romance from Barry and Iris and I don't see the chemistry between the characters. The writers are forcing it so hard it almost feels cartoonish.

The whole episode was awesome the only thing I would have liked to see is that they were doing the same experiment on an ape and maybe a name on a cage or something that read "Solovar".

I see chemistry...I just don't see sparks. I think that they make good friends. I'll tell you, I found Iris tolerable for the most part while she was in a relationship with Eddie. I thought by far her strongest episode was Power Outage, and I found her to be believable in her love for Eddie (up until the hospital scene between Iris and the Flash, which was so inappropriate. I was so angry after that moment). So I ship WesThawne pretty hard.
