Anyway, this was a solid episode, even if it was nothing more than a filler episode.

There was only one thing I didn't like, and that was Caitlin having the super obvious hots for Jay. I know people move on, but it feels kinda wrong after Ronnie's death. At least don't make it so super obvious that she'd want to pounce him right then and there.

Yes, people are disappointed. Apparently, Iris can do nothing right on this show.

Not her fault, though, it's the writers. ;)

And I think it's not really that hard to get that some people have a problem when you portray a character one way in one season and then make a 180 in the next without any real explanation.

I'm not saying that I don't like this change, though, I think she is much, much more likeable like she is now and I'm glad they improved her part, though I think it is unnatural for her to react like this due to how she has been portrayed before when it comes to how she reacted to other people not telling her stuff (Barry, Eddie, Joe...).

Still, it's an improvement of her character and I really appreciate it.

Different people handle loss differently and it's a comic book tv show, so I'm not really surprised they make her jump for the next best replacement for Ronny. I don't like this for another reason as I would have loved to meet Joan Garrick! X)

Damn. I'm not sure who was the worst father in this episode - Papa West or Papa Snart! I can't believe that Joe faked his wife's death and let Iris believe that she was dead for the majority of her life.

I can vaguely understand Joe not wanting Iris to have abandonment issues, but surely Joe could have told her the truth. At least Iris seemed to handle the revelation pretty well. Much better than I imagine anyone would in real life. While it's good that they're not repeating Iris' reaction to learning about Barry, her acceptance was a little odd. Maybe there will be some slow build resentment and anger.

Also, she makes for an odd reporter - getting shot at by shady landlords! And swan diving from windows!

Otherwise, it was a good episode. I think they need to tone down Caitlin's infatuation with Jay though. I get that after mourning Ronnie for a total of 1.5 years or so, she may be willing to move on, but it's still a little strange.

"We'll see about that.
Thanks for dinner."
He's evil.

Michael Ironside gives his presence as Darkseid.

He was less over the top, this probably helped. I liked his former portrayal as Cold from season one but, yeah, he came over even better in this one. Curious whether they go on to tone down all of the Rogues a bit from now on or whether it will only be Cold and Heatwave for Legends of Tomorrow as they have been both rather particular so far.

Cold seemed to be less hammy this time, which is good. Could be lack of Heatwave but this was better Heatwave is way too over the top.

Yeah, I thought he was hamming it up with each appearance last season. This episode reminded me of how he was in his first appearance.

I feel like this is the best Captain Cold episode yet. Miller's performance wasn't as over the top and it helped make his character feel more like a actual person rather than a cartoon villain.

Cisco's impression of Professor Stein was spot on.

Totally forgot about that one. Yes, Cisco was just amazing, he never fails to crack me up. I wonder whether Stein will stay as a regular, though, I was surprised when I realized that he kind of took over the spot of Wells.

I enjoyed this episode immensely as we got to see Captain Cold from a very different perspective and how Barry was right, Snart does have a code of honor and love even if it's only for his sister. I'm very curious to see how far cold will go in terms of storytelling since I think this is a set up for his position in Legends of Tomorrow as a leader.

I'm loving Cisco's relationship with Lisa, he knows she's bad, yet he's willing to show her kindness and is somewhat in love with her. he continues to flirt with danger.

Jay continues to be awesome addition to the team both in science and intelligence, I can see why Catlin is falling for him he is like Barry, just a little more wiser and looks like a specimen .

Damn Lewis Snart is one MB of a father, he isn't Lionel Luthor caliber material, but he defiantly is an abusive bastard of a father. I felt bad for Lisa upbringing and treatment.

Speed canon introduction hello, I guessing it won't be long until they incorporate the cosmic treadmill into play

The West family secret reveal interesting, loved the scene between Iris & Joe, very heartfelt.

Patty is hot, cute, and she has quite the personality kinda wished she was actually Iris. the actress seems more like comic Iris

Alright Harrison Wells returns… consider me intrigued at where this is heading.

I really liked how Iris responded. It was actually more realistic imo then her suddenly getting mad. They've gotten away from the CW teen model , and have her , and Barry for that matter, acting more like adults, which is refreshing.

I thought Candice did a good job, and I knew her character would come off alot better if they actually decided to write her as more than just a love interest.

This episode seemed to me like more of a starting set up for Snart for LoT than anything else with regards to this season's story line for The Flash.

that would be interesting and is save us saying Llinda is cradle robber or even though some people find it hot cougar or milf (the latter of which I'm not sure Linda want to be called til she has a kid literally )

She seem's volatile with the way the writers wrote her in the show already with how fast she was ready to drop the relation ship with barry as soon as she's came across any obstacle no matter how minor often. their fault

Christ, you act like Jow is 40 or something. Here's a little fact that should be considered. Jow is 24, Lonsdale is 23, there's only so much of an age gap the writers can give the characters. Linda is in no danger of being called a "cradle robber" or "cougar", and yes Zenith, the term milf does not apply to people that don't have children, even if it did, it's still utterly ridiculous.

Anyone else get annoyed by the fact that it's "team flash" defeating the villains just as much as Flash? I find their dumbing down of Barry, and the underuse of his powers to be infuriating. Apart of the reason why so many people seem to think Flash is boring is because people perceive that he Flash is just fast, and I feel the writers are helping further than perception.

Yeah, that has been an irk of mine regarding this show since the beginning of season two as he isn't a complete noob anymore and should be able to hold his own at least to a degree but the show builds on selling side-characters to viewers as the more interesting characters they have the likelier it is for people to find at least someone interesting.
Pity that Barry is pretty much turned into a sometimes rather bumbling doofus due to that and that it is time and time again pointed out how inadequate he is compared to others (like the scene in episode two with Jay wearing his T-shirt or the ones when Felicity said that Ray was pretty much Barry but with Ollie's body - btw, nice portrayal of a really shallow lady there).
I like the show but I really differentiate between the TV Barry and what you get in the comics. Maybe it will get better when he gets more experienced.

This episode was great, and I enjoy the Cold episodes. I really enjoyed Ironside as Cold's father and the stark contrast in the way they operate as well as perhaps why Captain Cold is the way he is. Plus, doing that to his own daughter just to get his son to work with him. Seeing the way Cisco and Lisa act together is enjoyable. It's still hard to tell if she's just toying with him or if she actually has feelings for the guy, but his reaction after the kiss, I'm surprised he didn't do some backflips.

I tend to say it a lot during last season's episodes, but the stuff with Joe and Barry is so well done and pretty believable. In this case, Joe gets fatherly advice from Barry (payoff at the end when he says he told Iris and how he ended up with such a great son) about telling Iris about his mother, and we don't get the cliche anger from Iris about his reasons for telling Iris her mother was dead. She would really have a justified right to be angry, but it shows how Iris has changed from this current season from last season. That scene with Joe pouring his heart out about it was touching.

Also, Patty and Barry are so awkward together in a good way. When they make the ear joke and Joe just walks away in that fashion had me rolling. The part in the coffee shop where she gives him her number and then tries to play it off to an oblivious Barry was funny as well. I hope for more scenes like these.

Not a bad episode. I liked the contrasting fatherhood styles of Joe and Lewis Snart. Cold being revealed as having a soft side was rather sweet as well. Didn't see the ending with Dr. Stein coming.

Normally I'd be a little annoyed at Joe for lying to Iris but I can see how a father wouldn't want to break his little girl's heart and how the lie could snowball from there. Too bad Francine's back. I have a feeling all these West family drama scenes are going to be horrible.

Yay for the return of Dr. Wells! Boo for Jay sticking around! I don't know what it is, I just don't like that guy's face.

Also, how did Joe make it believable that her mom was dead when she really wasn't? Did they never visit the graveyard to visit her deceased mom? You usually tend to do that if a loved one is dead. Even if her body is lost for some reason, you still have a grave where you can go to pray and such.

Joe could've told her that she'd been cremated and he'd scattered the ashes somewhere.

Best episode of this season so far.
Pros: The show does better when there is no bad guy of the week formula. I really like how they write Cisco and further and develop his story little by little each episode.

Cons: The ladies. I hate this new fake Facility. First there is something I don't trust. Maybe the the over the time cutesy behavior is hiding something. Also, just tired of this archetype. Caitlin seemed to have gotten over Ron fast. I don't like how they have her thirsting after Jay so much.

Iris, I don't like how her life takes place off screen. Glad they showed her on Picture news working but is still a lot of tell than show. They could have her investigating actual story that leads into main plot. There are all these portals leading into other earths. Does central city know about it.

I was find Iris taking Joy's news about her mom more subdued and not lashing out than and there. I know there was a scene between her and Barry talking about her mom and her feelings but it was cut. I guess it was more important to see scene two with fake facility/Barry nonsense and more Jay/thirsty Caitlin than an important scene where we see Iris POV. That is the major problem with this show. We don't get her POV or feelings.

I was uncomfortable with the drug angle for Francine. Both this and Iris constantly just being shown to support Barry or Joe no matter what happens to her just feeds into stereotypes. I would have just rather Francine cheated and just took off.

I keep telling just wait, next episode we see how Iris feels about anything. Losing Eddie, her mom but I'm just losing trust with this show's writers. I hope we get Iris meeting her mom next episode but it looked like from Joy telling Barry off hand Iris is seeing her that would also take place off screen. All important develops happens off screen. Please prove me wrong writers.

Wait, people are actually disappointed that Iris didnt go all "waah waah daddy you lied to me!!"? After all the character development between Iris and Joe do we really want to see Iris go all whiny on him again? I LOVED how she handled it. She was shocked, a little upset but ultimately handled it like an adult and understood her father was only looking out for her. That was good writing.

I thought it was perfectly handled. The only complaint I had, which isn't on Iris at all, is I would have liked them to wait a bit to decide whether she wanted to meet with her mother and then show her decide to want to do so. Instead, they had the decision off screen. That's fine, I just thought that decision could have been a bit of a character moment. Obviously, they'll still have some of that for the reunion itself, though.

Patty is "Felicity" type only slighly (because it is some fun to watch her)- she is a bit shy girl not very good at "reading" other people. She is much different than Felicity. I do not like Jay/Caitlin scheme - it is terribly run. If it was at least some doubts/guilty feelings on Caitlin side, for example: I should have still mourn Ronnie but I like the guy too much or sth similar. Now Caitlin is presented as really shallow person and her whole relation with Ronnie looks now very weak. The general story develops well (or even Wells) but this CW-romances...

Wasn't able to catch the episode until today. There were a lot of really obvious problems with it, but it was still quite enjoyable overall. 7/10.

Yeah the Jay/Caitlin thing is weird. Part of me wants to say "well with all she's been through, she deserves to jump the bones of the next guy she meets if she wants to, so good on her." But yeah, given how much the show has played up the Ronnie thing (seriously, she cannot seem to get an arc or character moment that DOESN'T involve him in some way), her getting over it so fast, mostly offscreen, and being so obviously goo-goo for Jay, just is odd.

And yes, I'm getting really annoyed at all of Iris's emotional arc taking place offscreen. Still waiting to see her mourn Eddie show.

I was uncomfortable with the drug angle for Francine. Both this and Iris constantly just being shown to support Barry or Joe no matter what happens to her just feeds into stereotypes. I would have just rather Francine cheated and just took off.

The drug angle was probably done to make Francine more sympathetic. The audience would find it hard to warm up to a woman who left her own child behind for another man.

It didn't bother me that Iris forgave Joe so easily but I am annoyed to see so many posters congratulate her for handling the news in a "mature" way. Being angry about your father lying to you about your mother's death isn't immature.
