It was a decent episode.
The team-up of Weather Wizard, Captain Cold and The Trickster (Joker) was a little odd and I didn't really buy the Weather Wizard's justification for forming a team of super villains.
I did like Captain Cold almost ... flirting with Barry in his home though. It was kind of cute to see.
I also could have sworn that Francine said that she put her son up for adoption and that Iris was meant to be using her investigative reporter skills to track him down. But, Francine apparently raised him as her son, with Joe's last name and just never bothered to contact Joe or Iris until she was diagnosed with a terminal disease? That's pretty ... odd/cold. If she'd cleaned/sobered herself up during the pregnancy, why wouldn't she return to Joe and Iris? The whole secret son thing seemed to be resolved a little too quickly for me.
I liked the expanded background for Patty, although it seemed a little too extreme. Still, it was nice to see the character get to do more and to be something other than simply adorable and loveable (which are great qualities too).
It's interesting that the "speed force" is apparently like some kind of muscle which you can train and strengthen. At the same time, if Barry's powers can just keep growing and growing, then it's going to be harder for them to justify some of his actions (e.g. not being able to search every house in Central City within 8 or so hours to find 100 bombs).
I'm a little disappointed that Harry has gone from villain to ally to villain so quickly. And I really wish they would do something more with Jay. I understand that they don't want to service two speedsters on the show, but surely Jay could have some kind of active mission other than being at Caitlin's beck and call. A throw-away mention to Cisco's heartbreak at losing Kendra would have also been nice, especially since it was Christmas and Cisco had a number of new couples (e.g. Caitlin/Jay and Barry/Patty) around him.
All in all, it was probably the weakest episode for me this season. It's a shame that it also heralded the mid season break.
