Has anyone heard any news/rumors about the 3rd installment?

The first game was pretty. Sure it had its flaws but it was fun. It had more customization, more free roam abilities on each level, and it was more fluid. The add on character packs made it more fun too.

The second game....I cant say much, it was utter garbage. Every single level felt like on big drawn out cut sceen. The fluid aspect of the game was taken away. Each mission was very limited and straightforward.

I know E3 is coming up and there has been rumors of a battlefront 3 but nothing offical

:jedi

Weren't there a bunch of rumors right after TFU2 that a third game was in development, but it was cancelled and the staff were all let go or something?

I also remember a rumor that it was cancelled because George Lucas wanted Starkiller in that live action TV show that's probably never actually coming out. It kind of sounds like made up fanboy wishful thinking, but a rumor is a rumor.

The Force Unleashed series can go **** itself.

I, and many others are still waiting for god damn Battlefront 3!

I'm waiting for another Republic Commando. :/

Nobody wants another Rouge Squadron game?

I am disappoint.

forget Force Unleashed

i want new Dark Forces, Rogue Squadron & Battlefront games

Forget Force Unleshed

I want new Dark Forces, Rogue Squadron, Battlefront and Jedi Knight games.

When you guys say you want more Dark Forces, what do you mean exactly?

The first two Dark Forces games were first person shooters. Then it evolved into the Jedi Knight franchise and became more of a third person RPG.

I am not a huge fan of the FPS genre, but I think that a Star Wars FPS has tons of potential. Imagine the multiplayer maps alone. They could range from the more wilderness focused planets like Hoth, Endor, and Geonosis to urban combat like Bespin, Naboo, Coruscant but it could be done in a way that only Star Wars could. Hoth is a frigid ice planet, Endor, dense jungles, Geonosis, rugged mountains. Then from an Urban perspective, Bespin is an industrial city built in the clouds, there are different platforms, etc. Naboo is regal, elegant. Coruscant is urban, massive and sprawling. Each one would be so different and strategies would have to be adapted accordingly. For example, there would be less cover on an ice planet than a forest planet. I think that reviving Dark Forces as the Star Wars FPS could be tremendous. I don't even play FPSes and I would play that.

I'm familiar with the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series. I was just curious if people realized that Dark Forces got like three sequels.

Yeah, but the sequels (with the exception of the second one) went too far from the roots. Once Kyle became a Jedi, the lightsaber combat became the focal point and as did allocation of force powers. It became more of a third person RPG than anything else. I believe the franchise was four games. I consider the last two games of the franchise to be sequels in name only (and not even really because they dropped the Dark Forces title and replaced it with "Jedi Outcast and "Jedi Academy,").

If I remember correctly, Jedi Knight II was an FPS as well, it just went to third person when you you used your lightsaber.

I’d be down with another Dark Forces game, or at least a new game in a similar vein. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Star Wars FPS that has a somewhat open world vibe - a cross between Rage and Skyrim perhaps (I greatly enjoy TOR, but due to its nature, the cities are extremely sparse and lifeless). I think it’d be cool to play as a bounty hunter or smuggler – getting to see the underworld of the SW universe would be really cool. Just rattling off ideas, but it could be a prequel to Shadows of the Empire – playing as Dash Rendar would be interesting.

I’d also like to see a pretty heavy SW game – I want to see the turmoil and the emotional toll the Empire’s actions take on the planets. I want to see and feel the desperation and anxiety that comes with trying to rebel against such an evil force (or trying to toe the line for your own gain). In the movies, we KNOW the Empire is bad and rules with an iron fist, but we never really see it first hand (minus Alderran). I want to see WHY/WHAT makes the rebellion so important to people, instead of just being told the Empire is evil.

Also, just once, I’d like to play a game where I actually have to fight through an onslaught of enemies while trying to get to my ship…run inside, hop into the pilots chair and take off while dodging AA fire, TIEs, etc, as I try to reach space and hit light speed before a Star Destroyer gets in range. Can you say epic?

I’d like to see another Rogue Squadron or X-Wing game as well. I played the hell out of the original X-Wing game for Windows 95. Getting the chance to play a game like that with today’s tech could be stunning.

Both Jedi Outcast and maybe Jedi Academy (can't recall) could be played in FPS, but the game play was clearly designed for third person and it made the FPS elements awkward as hell.

Well, whatever the case, I liked the way that series evolved. However, be it Dark Forces or Jedi Knight, I wouldn't mind seeing a new sequel.

But if they want to make a new Star Wars FPS, it should be Republic Commando II, dammit! :cmad:

I never played Republic Commando.

I'm not saying Dark Forces evolved badly. I immensely enjoyed Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. I am just observing that once it dropped the Dark Forces title and started going by "Jedi Knight," instead, it had changed immensely.

Yea its tough to even call those sequels due to how drastically they changed. I loved all those games tho. Would kill for a true Jedi Academy sequel.

A sequel to Republic Commando and another Jedi Knight game would be awesome, Dark Forces 2 was one of my favorite games when I was a kid, and it still is. I also love the expansion Mysteries of the Sith. But most of all I want a Kotor 3 as others have said.

Republic Commando was awesome. It was sort of a light tactical shooter where you controlled some Clone Trooper special forces guys. There was a sequel planned where you played as stormtroopers, but it was cancelled.

Me too. Though I find that Lucas Arts has tried their damnedest to move away from the original trilogy in recent years. Aside from the Rogue Squadron franchise and Jedi Knight, how many games have there been set in the time period of the original trilogy since episode 1 dropped? Lucas Arts is obsessed with pushing the prequels which is a shame because the period of the original trilogy is untapped gold mine in modern gaming.

I doubt we'll ever see it. As much as I harp for KOTOR 3, Lucas Arts has made it fairly clear that The Old Republic is KOTOR 3. While they could recant that and make a proper sequel, I doubt it'll happen. The Old Republic is the first MMORPG in years to seriously threaten World of Warcraft's dominance. It is here to stay and Lucas Arts won't release a product that gets in its way (like KOTOR 3 would) for at least 5 or 6 years a which point a KOTOR 3 would be pointless (they'd be better off rebooting).

I see. So it is Star Wars meets Rainbow Six? Sounds cool.
