That's why they're developing the DD reboot... They don't wanna lose the rights. Some guy from Marvel adressed this and they're not happy.

What Marvel guy addressed this? I would really like to know what deal Avi Arad set up with Fox because I was pretty sure it was similar to the X-Men one. I thought Fox had to make a Daredevil or spinoff film every 4 years to hold onto the rights. It's been over 4 years since Elektra came out.

Elektra came out in '05. So technically this is the 4th year. That's why I'm not surprised to hear they're trying to get a Daredevil reboot made.As long as they get a script greenlit before the years end I think they're in the clear I'm sad to say.

No this isn't the 4th year. Subtract January of 2009 from January of 2005 and you end up with 4 years. It's actually been 4 years and 4 months since Elektra came out. Fox shouldn't have the rights anymore.

in the podcast for http://www.thinkmcflythink.com/ it was mentioned that maybe fantastic four was made only to hold on the rights.
they didnt have anything for the summer and they would lose them. the movie was made very fast . filming at the end of the year for a summer realese next year.

Yea, that is...insanity to a whole new level. Elektra is literally the worst comic book movie I have ever seen. Granted, I usually avoid the really bad ones so I haven't actually seen that many CBMs but Elektra, is just, so terrible on so many levels. Even as a action film it's atrocious.

Daredevil Theatrical Cut is pretty poor, but still entertaining and true to the character. The Directors Cut makes it very good IMO.

Eh, I didn't bother to take the time to find out what actual month it was greenlight. Maybe the contract was for 5 years then. If it's 4 and what you said is correct then technically they shouldn't have the rigths to Daredevil or Elektra.

True , although i have to see if Rothman was the head of Fox studios at the time. LEt's not forget that Fox/Rothman had also screwed with Ridley Scott.
Why Rothman is reporting that Ridley is considering an Alien reboot is beyond me . Either he's lying ( would'nt be the first time) or Ridley is crazy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rothman is afraid of Cameron though. Cameron is known to have hands down one of the worst tempers. I still love the guys movies and don't fault him for the temper since I have that same problem.

Just saying if him and Rothman ever got into an argument I see it ending with Rothman cradled in a corner sucking his thumb looking out of the corner of his timid shaking eyes at Cameron across the room hoping he stays back.

I think they are just talking about reboots or saying they will reboot these properties to hold on to them.

Well, wasting money just to hold on a to property right is pretty stupid. That's what Fox did with Dragon Ball and they got burned. It will probably happen again if Fox takes the same attitude with Fantastic Four. Hopefully, Rothman won't be around long enough to screw up this property right again.
