It's a PS 3 exclusive, Kojima himself said that MGS4 won't run on the 360, because of it's HD player and few more things the 360 hardware can't bare...

I do believe that it will not go to the 360, but i don´t buy that it will not run of the 360.
Kojima was paid to say it, i´m sure.....

I´m going to tell you a little secret...............gaming platforms are about one thing and one thing alone, GAMES.
The 360 has them, the PS3 needs to put their act together and start making great ones (Tools of Destruction and Uncharted are the only two great ones out there).
So, the all POWER of the PS3 is stupidity at his best (not calling you stupid, bare that in mind before freaking out).
The PS3 is more powerful than the 360, of course it is, that´s not even an issue, even MS say that it is.
The question is, can they use it?
The answer is, so far, NO.

When the 360 came out, some people were disappointed because they were expecting life like images.
Like some said at that time, maybe next generation, or even the next after that, never for this one, people that were expecting it were morons.
The same goes to the PS3....
The PS3 is too "powerful" for this generation, it will not use 60% of it´s capacities, and when it does, MS will release the X3 and Sony the PS4, so, the PS3 will alway be seen as the most expensive and irrelevant hardware out there.
MS was much smarter than Sony this generation.

Sony wanted so much to kick the Xbox, that they went insane....

The PS3 uses Blue Ray from the get go, but no one is buying it for the Blue Ray (that´s why MS made the HD DVD as an add-on).
The PS3 made HDTV 1080p from the get go, but games are not in 1080p yet, because the majority of people don´t have a HDTV, and the ones that do have don´t have a tv capable of 1080p only 720p.

When the war between Blue Ray and HD DVD and 1080p starts to really matter, the PS4 and X3 will be out or imminent...

So yeah, it was a dumb move, and all because the Xbox, which doesn´t take a rocket scientist to see that.

I think the PS3 will win this new generation, but won't really start to show progress until christmas. 360 has the games for now, but by next year, i think developers will start feeling comfortable with the PS3 hardware, and some really amazing games will be made that won't even be able to run on the 360.

Few days after the release of the 360, before the release of the PS3, Sony already stated that they were working on the PS4, the same goes to Microsoft.
I even read that the idea was to release the PS4 in 2010/2011.

If you watch "The Bonus Round" of game trailers, there is an episode about gaming blogs where the guy from Joystick (i might be wrong and might be the guy from the other) say that MGS 4 will be on the 360, just is not officially yet.
First, i don´t believe it will be on the 360, but if it is, it can clearly run Metal Gear 4, in fact, that´s not even an issue.

so while it's POSSIBLE for MGS4 to port to the 360, everything will either have to be dumbed down or they would have to put the game on 2 discs (similar to the original MGS for the PS and Twin Snakes for the Gamecube). not a major problem, but it just goes to show how much power the PS3 has over the 360. as for MGS4 going to 360, you were right to believe it's not heading to the 360. even if it eventually does....don't hold your breath.

Well the thing is, is that the PS3 really IS built to last and stay around. Sony knows this, as does microsoft. Microsoft had to know that they were building the PS3 around longevity, but it was taking a longer time to make it so they capitalized. Made a system that'll last a few years then become 'obselete'.

Cause people honestly can't expect the Wii to last more than a few years before Nintendo is making a new system, and around that time the PS3 will really start to shine, so 360 is looking kinda bad, so Microsoft takes all their money and works on a project that till outlast whatever.

But for a while, the PS3 will dominate. Just not for another few years, once the price drops a bit more, and the developers/players of both the TV's and the game's are able to tap deep into the system. Lets face it, two years down the road almost all tv's will be standard with the outputs that are "special" today, or non-existant, so more people will be able to see the games in it's full glory (something we've STILL yet to see, but there should be a noticeable differnece).

When the PS1 came out, rumblings already were coming around about the PS2. When the Xbox came out, we already knew that an Xbox 2 was coming out, and we found out right after the launch of the Xbox.

No, but they're stated to certain analysts, and people that work with them, and somehow by the time the system is ready for launch, the talks of the new system are already underway, so they just casually slip in there that they're "already working on a new console" and move on.

So what you are saying is that the PS4 and Xbox3 are coming out next year? From your post, it seems as if this is that last Xmas that these consoles will be out. Sure, spring is a difficult time to release a game, but a game as big as MGS will sell, no matter when it is released.

I'm saying the ratio of 360s and Wiis to PS3s is going to become even wider, which will make developers that much more apprehensive about making games for the PS3, therefore you'll see more games coming out 6 months before on 360, more developers putting money into developing games that take advantage of Wiis control scheme because along with costing less to make games on the 360 and Wii, it will also have a better chance of selling since there's a bigger audience.

Everybody wants to say how this is a marathon, not a sprint, just wait a few more months, Playstation will come back. That's not the case, if you don't hit the ground running, you'll be left in the dust and if you're leading in the beginning of a console war, you'll get more help later on to keep you in the lead, because the third parties will also get a part of the prize. The longer it takes for Sony to get the big guns out, the more people get tired of waiting and jump ship to Microsoft. If I was asking for a system this Christmas I'd be asking for the system that I knew already had marquee games that I could play Christmas morning, not the system where I'd have to wait a few more months to play those marquee games.

Sony has sold just as many PS3's as MS sold 360's in its first year. I'm pretty sure that the gap WILL close with MS already having pushed their biggest franchise out of the way. Sony has not.

true...Sony hasn't even touched their system sellers. all the hyped exclusives that have come out thus far (Resistance, Lair, Heavenly Sword) were all originals (non-sequels). Sony's big exclusives (MGS4, GTHD, UT3) have yet to come out and they've still got Drake's Fortune, Haze and LittleBigPlanet to release.

Alan Wake (Remedy Entertainment, makers of Max Payne) and Halo Wars (is Halo, and it´s from Ensemble, makers of Age of Empires and Age of Mythology).
You want another one, Peter Jackson´s Halo project (is Halo and it´s Jackson´s, the only game i see outselling everything out there, even Halo 3).
You want another, Fable 2.

whf is right the wii will get the boot soon and nintendo will move on to something else so will microsoft, its only sony who wants to stick around for 10 yrs. nintendo doesnt hang around for too long before moving on to some thing else thats just how they are and microsoft they pretty much cut the ties with the old console as soon as the new one is annouced

I know that i´m coming out as a xbox fanboy, but i´m not, i plan of getting a PS3 in 2008, the thing is, with all arrogance by Sony, at this time, i can´t stand them for a bit.
But because it´s all about the games, i´m going to get one next year..
