The Guns thread - Part 1

Then i truly pity our military and police readiness in the future, if they want NOTHING To do with guns period..

Yeah. Like in every other advanced countries with police, military and no civilian guns!

"Well regulated militia"... Seems like our militia needs more regulating.

Don't get me started on folks who openly carry guns and have a round in the chamber. Sweet lord.

Better than them who have ammo vasectomies or cut off their guns at birth. A reeeal man brandishes his big, loaded gun!

Also, you know those discounts that Delta rescinded? That got the Georgia legislature all in a huff.

Turns out it only 13 people used it.

So what about all those people who've bought desert eagles (.50 cal pistols) or civilian versions of Barret .50 cals?? Should they not be allowed to own them "cause of the damage they can cause"??

In my opinion, no they shouldn't.. OR if you do want to own a Desert Eagle or Barrett .50 cal (a weapon I didn't even know could legally be purchased in the US) you should have to give a good reason for wanting to own such a weapon.. like if you hunt big animals.

In states where that's legal (assuming you're not just talking about some psycho doing it in one of the non-conceal/carry states against the law), they go through pretty significant thresholds and training to get that license.

And the cases of those conceal/carry guys actually ever doing anything wrong is really low, so that should be put out there.

And here it is...

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/5087/text

Basically bans everything but 6 shooters.

It took me literally 15 seconds to find a exception that is idiotic (Same as NYs Safe Act).

These people are incompetent.

They said they didn't want to take away our guns they said. They say that because they know they can't. This bill will not pass.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/survey-majority-of-democrats-want-to-ban-semi-automatics-half-want-to-ban-all-guns/article/2650543

82% of Dems want to ban all semiautomatic weapons:

Dems are on the fence about banning all guns (repealing the 2nd amendment):

It is important to remember, the House tends to have extremists on both sides. As well as submitting ****** bills on both sides.

Not really helping that anti-gun people like Shannon Watts and here supporters are freaking out over guns like this, a bolt-action .22 rimfire target rifle.

I'm sure that's a deer hunting gun, too.

Oh FFS. No one needs guns like that.

This fetish is so disturbing.

^ I know.. it looks so evil.

1. Its a 22 and basically is good for killing varmints, paper target practice and not much else.

2. Its a bolt action rifle.

3. Your 90 year old grandmother could easily shoot that rifle all day long.

4. Good to know you guys know whats best for everyone else.

Whatever, man. Keep your guns. Obviously that's going so well for your country.

Countries like Canada and Australia would very likely allow the type of gun (or equivalents) he's talking about. Not entirely sure about the UK, but if they allow anything at all (which they do), that's probably considered a-okay there too.

Nice job backing the hysteria he's getting at.

Scary-lookin' doesn't necessarily equate to "spray bullets everywhere Kill-Stick 9000".

Well Florida just voted down an assault weapons ban and then held a moment of silence for the shooting victims.

And let's not even get into the church goers who worshipped their guns wearing crowns made of bullets.

But yeah, you're right, the anti gun people are the hysterical ones.

Good luck with that.

Your little freak out over it shows you (and many anti-gun people) have no idea what you're talking about and when corrected with actual facts, you got all bothered. Saying you want common sense gun control when your own reactions point to you wanting to ban nearly every gun based on looks alone is why many gun rights people in the US don't feel politicians and their supporters wanting gun control are being honest.

Look, it isn't going to be an effective as a mass killer, sure.

But it does highlight a major issue with guns in the nation. The fetishization of military type guns is a problem. So even if it isn't a killer, it is still part of the problem. One of the things Walmart is doing is taking off realistic military looking non-guns, like aerosoft guns.

The pro gun crowd using the word "facts" does make me laugh.

Also, nowhere in my original post did I say to ban that gun based on how powerful it is (or, in this case, isn't). But obviously the pro gun nuts jumped to that conclusion and said I didn't know what I was talking about.

Making small calibre rifles LOOK more deadly is a mind **** and can have serious implications for the people buying them. Like, oh I don't know, making them feel more badass than they are. Giving that false sense of power. The psychology behind this is what I mean about gun fetishes.

Also, it just looks stupid. The old school wood rifles look better.

I'm at that point where I might just be in favor of a total gun ban. Then maybe legalize some guns.

The NRA and the Republicans have gone completely insane.

Instead of banning some weapons that civilians have no civilian use for, they want to put 700,000 guns in schools.

Just the other day a teacher fired off a gun in a school.

Making "weak" guns look more military like so the people who buy them feel more powerful is pathetic.

Then look at their actual legislation. In the past 10 years, I haven't seen a blanket gun ban proposed yet. Typically, it's a request to ban weapons and accessories that are specifically made to kill large amounts of people. And yet you still have groups freaking out over that.

The very kind of behavior you are annoyed at above is reflected back by the people you support, where they lose their minds at the mere mention of any kind of control and assume that people are coming to take all their guns. Which is, quite frankly, silly.
