I think a GL spinoff is doable...
It'd probably have to be mostly earth based though.

As far as having Jordan cameo or join the cast of Flash, I would want them to focus on and really develop Barry's supporting cast and villains first.
Then maybe if all that is going well, maybe in a later season, have Jordan show up, but not as a GL, at least not at first.

Maybe have S.T.A.R labs testing under the radar some kind of particle accelerated-drive, some highly volatile ship or navigation system. And they're looking for someone to risk their life flying it.
Allen is following the leads, as it has connections to his powers, Iris is following the story.

Enter a reckless young pilot, discharged from the Air-Force, blackballed from Ferris and ever flying "legally" anywhere again. He rides into Central City following a rumor they are looking to hire Pilots.
They need someone crazy and fearless enough to fly their creation, which "officially does not exist".
He'll risk anything to fly again.
Jordan is the first, and last person interviewed for the secret position.
Barry gets involved, figures out what they are doing, probably tries to talk him out of it, Jordan an adrenaline junkie seeks the speed and freedom Allen gets as the Flash, calls him on his bs, for Allen it's not about that...conflict...friendship ensues...etc.

Maybe at some point later down the line he comes under the scrutiny of a certain passing space ship with a dying alien, if they want to spin off to another show.:cwink:

An official cross-over Light - Speed hr. block on tv would be incridble.

Yeah maybe Hal shouldn't be introduced in season 1 of The Flash. Barry was only introduced in season 2 of Arrow.
Maybe as far as big heroes go, Nightwing can be introduced in season 3 of Arrow, while Hal can be introduced in season 2 of The Flash

If Hal Jordan is going to show up I suggest Matt Lanter he was on a cw show before but I know him as the voice of Anakin Skywalker on the Clone Wars

Is it the name Lanter :oldrazz:. i guess he has the look (and hair), and is closer to Barry/Gustin's age.

Knowing he plays Anakin, kind of creepily parallels Obi-Wan's fated words - He was the best star pilot in the galaxy, and a cunning warrior.
Yeah until he gave into his fear ...and started down that ...Darth/Parallax path.

Ok, I can see it working.

Ohh man I didn't catch that......my mind is officially blown

I'm all for a TV movie green lantern spin off
it's hard to predict who would be cast, it'll probably be someone we've never heard of

Wouldnt a green latern spinoff tv show be more expensive with all the cgi and stuff?

Yeah it definitely would be more expensive. My suggestion is that they do a tv movie as opposed to an entire season. they could set Hal up on both Arrow and The Flash, then release a tv movie.

I think it would be cool if the Arrow/Flashverse is comprised of both tv movies and tv series..

The only thing about GL that keeps him from being a really viable property on tv are constructs and non humanoid looking aliens. Those can't be done convincingly without some insane cgi budget.

So basically, the only thing that keeps Green Lantern from being a viable TV property, is... Green Lantern? :cwink:

Pretty much, yeah. He'd be a cool occasional guest star on either show, but as a live action TV series... never happening.

What's the budget on Dr. Who? They seem to work their limits to their advantage, and yeah it often looks cheesy, but they have fun with aliens and sci-fi tech and it works.
Maybe a little less space, and a bit more beat Cop. His beat being Earth, maybe rework Coast city into a Roswell like alien/supernatural hub.
Think of him somewhat more of street level supernatural and alien tracker (x files etc.) but with the assist of alien ring (sonic screw drive amped up 1000 and with ai) instead of a Phone Box navigates through ring wormholes.
With only occasional bouts to Oa, it's actually how he started off.
And any Space scenes or events save them for big season enders.

Fair enough Barry can have Hal

Ollie's best friend will be Hawkman.

Syfy might be the best network for this kind of Tv show.

might work on NBC or Fox too.

I thought Ollie was consistently at odds with Hawkman? Opposing political views or something like that? But, then again, Ollie and Barry weren't exactly pals either, and the show twisted that a bit.

Green Lantern on Syfy sounds so sweet. Doesn't even need to be connected to Flash and Arrow. They could do their own Hal

I just started watching Farscape, and it's awesome! a GL tv series could TOTALLY work if it had Farscape's budget.

Green Lantern on a tv budget is just asking for trouble. There is no need to go down that well at all.

I care more about good acting and good writing than i care about special effects.

and based on all the scifi shows I've seen, Green Lantern CAN be done on a tv budget. They would have to limit the amount of constructs per episode, but it can totally be done. There would be some limitations, but it could still be very very faithful to the characters.

It'd probably be very expensive, but it can be done. Firefly and Farscape imo are proof.

I can imagine that not a lot of people would be down for a GL tv series if the effects are on the same level as one of those shows, but i personally would be so down. Like i said, i care less about the effects than i care about story and acting. And based on the effects on both of those shows, imo i think something on that level would be satisfactory for the effects on a GL show...

Hal Jordan's story, and the build up to the War of Light could be handled extremely well on television.

You guys can think whatever you want, but i am convinced that a GL tv series would work today. Farscape was ten years ago. If they gave GL: TV that budget, ten years later, i think the show would actually look really good, and the effects wouldn't really be an issue.

I actually think GL on tv would be the best place to tell GL stories..there is so much material.
Everything would have to be toned down, and the GL's power level would have to be reduced. But i would actually be okay with that. A GL tv show would be less of a superhero show, and the GL's would be more like cops/soldiers/space explorers.
Hal, Sinestro, Kilowog, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Guardians, all the different colored lanterns, Carol Ferris/Star Sapphire, Atrocitus, Manhunters, Mongul, Despero... they could tackle all of that in a way they wouldn't be able to with just a 2 hr movie

i was watching Farscape, and thought this image was familiar, so i screencapped it..

And there it is.
The link has been established!

Well, in fairness, Ferris Air had already been referenced on Arrow too.

Fair enough, also in Smallville Kara shows she'd been surfing at Coast City. We all know that's where young Kent first met young Jordan.

It didn't then and doesn't now mean it will lead to anything, probably won't.
Just saying, if they want, the link is established.:cwink:

I'd like for them to bring in Hal Jordan before he gets his ring as an employee of Air Ferris who has a strong sense of justice and ends up befriending Barry and finds out he's the Flash. He's just an ordinary guy who helps out. They can send him over to Arrow and have him go in between the two shows, since he is friends with both Green Arrow and Flash, and I don't think they need to give him his Lantern Corps powers to do similar stories to the classic Green Arrow-Green Lantern comics.

If they did that though they would find it difficult to spin him off into his own movie.

Or they could have a young Hal which would mean grant wouldn't get to be part of the justice league.

Best not to have green lantern in the flash at all, except perhaps as a reference

The Flash and Arrow most likely won't be connected to the movies.

I disagree that its best not to have Hal in this universe, he would be a huge asset, and he is the most logical character to introduce at this point.

Right now, the two biggest characters in this universe are going to be Arrow and The Flash. The link between those two is Hal, and they keep dropping hints towards him. I think he'll definitely be introduced eventually. And I can't wait for that. Behind Batman, Robin and Superman, Hal is my favorite superhero.

They could introduce Hal Jordan in Arrow and move him to Flash as Green Lantern in the latter's later seasons.

My idea is an ultimate CW crossover where Steven, Ramsey and Rickards are Angels/ Demons/ Hunters on Supernatural and the Winchesters star as Hal (Ackles), Wildcat (Jared) and Vic Sage- Question (Mischa).
