The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread

On one hand, this excites me because I do love quite a bit of Zimmer's stuff and I was quite disappointed with Horner's score last go-around. But on the other hand, now we have Zimmer scoring all three of the biggest superheroes. He's becoming the industry standard. Kinda wish Sony had gone somewhere else than Zimmer, but I know chances are I will end up enjoying the score, so...why am I complaining?

I wanted Brian Tyler. :csad:

I have no issue with Zimmer. I loved his scores. I just wish that Horner was coming back, as I LOVED his music. I was hoping he'd come back and build on his themes.

Again, who tweeted he was doing it? And why haven't SHH jumped on this news?

I'm a fan of both Horner and Zimmer. I've yet to read any official announcement except that one twitter message from the reporter. Who knows if this is even happening.

Maybe the best outcome would be if both Horner and Zimmer are will work on TASM2.

I love them both too. I just wanted Horner back to continue his (IMO) excellent score and even improve on it. I wouldn't want both to do the score though. That's just me.

And if it is true, then they may as well just announce it. Once that's done, I can move on and truly accept Zimmer as TASM2's composer lol

Agreed. I'd love for Horner to compose/arrange, and have Zimmer producing it. He's a pretty damn good producer.

Yeah, if a collaboration could work for TDK, no reason why it couldn't work for TASM2.

Exactly.

I, like you, really liked Horner's score. The thing about it, though, was that it wasn't very well produced, compared to any other OSTs out there. It was lacking a lot of volume and impact, and some things did sound slightly muddy. So to have Zimmer producing would be pretty ****ing awesome. I don't think people realize how important the actual production of a score is. The producer really is the one who's responsible for the final product.

Sadly, all of this is just my wishful thinking. :csad:

Another journalist has confirmed Zimmer's involvement.

Second collaborator? Either he means the 2nd composer in the TASM series or he's working with another composer on the film (Horner)? Or is that me being wishful?

Please be Horner, please be Horner!

Given Horner was the composer for TASM, it would be weird to now announce Zimmer is the composer and Horner is a 2nd collaborator, you'd think they'd do it the other way around.

Will be interesting to hear what they're going to do. Imagine heads exploding if the 2nd collaborator is Elfman.

The tweet makes it sound like there are two collaborators, and that Zimmer is the 2nd. But that's how I read it.

That does make sense.

Anyway, yeah, Elfman would've been crazy!

I like his Bat scores, but some said Zimmer couldn't do Superman. To me, he did. The WAYGTDWYANSTW? cue, Flight, This is Clark Kent, Earth etc capture the hope of the character well. He also provided the action cue Arcade. A brand new action cue in TASM2 like that would set things on fire.

Awesome news! I hope Zimmer keeps Horner's main theme though.

I think this is the first foray Zimmer has done for the Marvel Universe, This will be ****ing awesome. I will definitely pick up the score for it.

Maybe I'm in the minority but unless Zimmer creates awesome themes like in Pirates I don't want him on Spidey. I have always had mixed feelings on his Batman stuff.

The theme complaints never get old.... oh wait.
