I liked Horners theme and its clear if this is Zimmer (likely) he is obviously using Horners work as a base and putting his own spin on it which is the right thing to do to keep the films feeling cohesive. Im happy with it.

I don't think that's Zimmer's. I can't picture him keeping Horner's stuff.

I really like the music that played in the leaked footage. I hope it's an early draft from Zimmer because it sounds awesome, I really like the mysterious sounds playing in the background during Norman's speech to Harry. Really sounds like Zimmer at that part, and I love the updated theme. It's great to hear that they are keeping Horner's theme.

I agree. I love the theme from TASM, and although I think the score was fine, it was somewhat lacking. But I didn't want them to change the music entirely, just revamp it. And thats exactly what Zimmer did.

Indeed. Horner's score felt lacking during the action sequences imo, but it was great during the emotional and romantic sequences. So I'm really crossing my fingers that the collaborating composer will indeed be Horner, because how awesome wouldn't it be to have Zimmer and Horner working together. :woot:

The scene with Spidey on top of the building before he swings on the cranes to Oscorp was my favorite part of the score. That, and when Peter was testing out his new powers. Loved that as well.

I agree. The fight scenes should have been louder, faster, and more memorable. But all of the emotional moments were great. I loved the music in the opening titles, and with all the Peter/Gwen scenes, and other character scenes as well. Even if Horner doesn't return, we will most likely have the theme back at least.

It really did have a lot of great tracks. Does anyone know where I can find the music from where Peter is on the escalator and looks up at the Norman Osborn silhouette?

That part isn't on the official soundtrack, but I have it on my pc though. I can give you a link to the full soundtrack including tracks that weren't officialy released. I'll PM it to you if you want. :yay:

Sure, that would be great! Thank you! :D

I think they're going to come up with something a lot deeper for the main theme. You have to remember, this footage was not meant to be seen by all of us. This was for a selected amount of people at Comic Con. They wanted it fast pace, and to get people excited. When the trailer releases they might go for a bit more of an emotional tone. Especially when they show anything of Peter's parents.

the final theme may differ a little, but it will still use the Horner main theme cues. Comic Con audience or not, they wouldn't dare to use that theme publicly just for promotional purposes if something similar wasn't in the movie

The music in the trailer was extremely cool. It's different, while still sounding like Horner.

The minor tone they added to Horner's tune really worked well. Give me anything without finger clicks and chants and i'll be happy though...

I just yesterday got the score for TASM just because the music in the footage got me so excited, and while I liked the light-hearted moments of Horner's score, the Zimmer stuff in the footage was much more my taste and heroic.

I loved Zimmer's Batman and Superman scores, and I'm sure I'll love his Spidey score.

Hopefully the score is better than Man of Steel's.

I've loved all of Zimmer's superhero film scores. I doubt he'll disappoint.

I loved his score for the Simpsons movie. He took the original theme, from Danny Elfman, and added so much to it. :D

The trailer music sounded derivative of Inception with a little more thematic brass thrown in. Not surprising and not very interesting.

Do we have confirmation that there will be a collaborating composer?

The idea of pairing Hans Zimmer with somebody a bit more melodic and understated composer (alá James Newton Howard for the first two movies in the Dark Knight series) is a brilliant choice.

I just found out he's scoring it.

Cannot say I'm surprised. I like James Horner's body of work a lot, but his Spidey was very flat, especially compared to Elfman's. So seeking a new talent and sound is the way to go.

Unfortunately, I am not sure getting the sound of TDK and MOS is the right direction either. Then again, I think Zimmer can be more playful than his critics give him credit for. His POTC scores are indelibly fun. So, here is hoping we get something closer to that. It may be the best Spidey score yet, if that is the case. Just saying.

Sherlock Holmes score is pretty good as well

Zimmer can be versatile when he wants

I often forget he did the Sherlock Holmes score too. It's a great score

Zimmer will be fine, if he feels like it. He can do fun and serious at the same time. The problem is he doesn't apply himself as much as he should. Don't get me wrong, I have faith, and I love all of his output, but I lump him into three categories :

Good (BB, Sherlock 2, MoS, PotC2)
Great (TDK, TDKR, Sherlock, Backdraft, The Holiday)
Phenomenal (Inception, Lion King, Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons)

Lately he puts himself in-between Good and Great, with Phenomenal ideas, but not as good execution. Like I said though, he'll do fine and I bet he'll write a great TASM2 score.
