The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread

If you go back and read my posts concerning Zimmer you'd find that I was not happy with the choice to have him compose the score. I still don't like that intro they released about a week ago or the first part of the main theme. However, I was totally impressed with the music from the sizzle reel. Very cool stuff. I'm so glad that Johnny Marr and Pharrell are part of this super-group that's helping to put together the score.

I wanted Horner back. Part of me still does.

BUT, after hearing the music in the trailer, if that was Zimmer and co, I'm sold on it. It sounds pretty cool. I loved that track on Electro walking like a zombie in times square.

Sweet :)

The zombie comparison is a good point. It captures a very spooky vibe with the whispery vocals.

I love that camera shot panning up on Electro as he is walking through times square. Let me see if I can grab a snapshot of it quickly…

I knew it reminded me of something! It really does sound like that! And that soundtrack is also my favorite from Zimmer. :woot:

Man, if Zimmer on this film channels at least a fraction of the Zimmer that made The Prince of Egypt soundtrack, I will be ecstatic! :wow:

Totally. I LOVE Horner, but I thought his TASM stuff was a little bland. Can't wait till the Zimmer tracks become available.

Doesn't the score become available prior to the release of a film in most cases? I'm not really sure about that. If so, any ideas as to when we'd expect it to show up in retail?

I'm kinda torn as to whether or not I'd actually purchase it and/or listen to it. First off, the track titles could easily give away spoilerish plot points and second, I think I might enjoy just listening to the music while watching the movie for the first time. But who knows. If the score gets rave reviews I may just give it a quick listen before seeing the movie.

I'll probably listen to a little bit of it. I'll listen to the full version of Paranoia (or whatever it's called) though. That sounds really cool.

Oh yeah. At least that one track. Paranoia sounds so dope.

I'm defiantly avoiding too much news about the soundtrack. Horner's names were a little spoilerific for my liking

The TASM1 soundtrack gave away the part where Peter breaks up with Gwen.

Ah. That too. I can't see you anymore. Lol why did they title it that?

Zimmer's score better match or top his MOS score! I know they'll be different but it is Zimmer after all. I love MOS and his score.

I love the score in MOS, it's probably one if my favorite scores ever.

Well now that he has the musical supergroup, I think its possible for him to top that MOS score.

Projected titles:

"Enter the Laundry Sheriff"
"Disappearing Chimneys"
"Rhino in New York > Spider-Man in Sochi"
"Hey. Lick That."
"Not Everyone Gets a Happy Ending"
"Harry Officially Goes Bad"
"This is Bigger Than You, Peter"
"Listen to Gwen, Peter"
"You're Going to Pay the Price, Peter"
"Harry's Hair Gel"
"Gwen Gets Saved"
"Haha, Psych!!"
"Peter Imitates a Sad Whale"
"An Old Friend Wakes Up, Per Reddit Guy"

I think there will be a track called "Enter: Aunt Carnage."

Lol imagine one is actually titled Gwen's death.

True. The score already sounds so unique thanks to those guys.

oh yeas, sometimes nothing beats the old flame :oldrazz:

but in all seriousness, I loved the supposed possible electro theme bit. if the rest of the score is even half as great I'm sold

speaking of Zimmer, I just watched "12 years a slave" great great movie but Zimmer's theme on it was almost exactly the same as "time" from Inception
