Spirits Within was lame. It wasn't really based on a game, but it's problems were on the film making level rather than the adaptation one. It was just a poorly written, poorly executed movie. It was a bore-fest that had Final Fantasy's name, but that was about all that I can say of it.

Hmm, watching those TV spots made me notice another thing that went VERY wrong by casting Olyphant - 47 sounds American. He doesn't have that awesome English accent that made the character sound so sophisticated in the games.

I think this movie is going to be good, it has a great rating "R", the action looks good from what I have watched in the teaser, trailer and tv spots, I am a fan of Olyphant and know from watching "Deadwood" that he can act, so IMO so far so good, 1 week from today bring on "Hitman".

I'm actually anxious to see this movie now, especially with the confirmed R-rating. Also, Nathan, this is holywood, there's always going to be some sort of love interest.....here's hoping she dies a violent death.

Timothy Olyphant is still wrong for the role and having a love interest only ruins the story. I know I'll avoid this film because they didn't get it right and they cast the wrong person for the role.

How can anyone defend this or praise it? It looks to be your typical mindless action film with nice homages to the game, that's all it has and people blindly praise it? Hitman should be in the vain of Bourne/Casino Royale, not some Universal Soldier/Terminator rip-off.

Looks like all that's left for decent adaptations this year is Beowulf and I Am Legend

The games have a storyline, yes it involves carrying out cool assassinatios, however all of them have a unique story that adds to the character of Agent 47.

For example, in the first game it showed him being created, being trained, and killing guards at the asylum in order to escape. They could expand upon him being a genetic clone.

A real actor who is wrong for the role. I don't care how good of an actor Olyphant is, he's still wrong for the role and I can name quite a few actors who would do the role justice. Personally I think it's more along the lines of people being happy that a Hitman film is being made and they'll accept anything.

My recommendation is read the novel "Hitman: Enemy Within" it is a great novel and is a perfect way to make a film. Not this piece of trash that Fox has ruined.

How you in one post can fling **** at the Hitman movie for not being close enough to the source and then mention "Beowulf" and "I Am Legend" as better adaptations is beyond me.

Of course I have absolutely no clue what the whole "Universal Soldier/Terminator-ripoff" bit is all about.
