The games have a storyline, yes it involves carrying out cool assassinatios, however all of them have a unique story that adds to the character of Agent 47.

For example, in the first game it showed him being created, being trained, and killing guards at the asylum in order to escape. They could expand upon him being a genetic clone.

A real actor who is wrong for the role. I don't care how good of an actor Olyphant is, he's still wrong for the role and I can name quite a few actors who would do the role justice. Personally I think it's more along the lines of people being happy that a Hitman film is being made and they'll accept anything.

My recommendation is read the novel "Hitman: Enemy Within" it is a great novel and is a perfect way to make a film. Not this piece of trash that Fox has ruined.

There is little point in debating this with you as you made your mind up months ago, get this straight though, like i told you in the wrestling thread, i don't "accept" things, i merely view it and give my opinion, i don't think the games were these all conquering masterpieces that you do and i think the stories were just run of the mill cold killer stuff, seen and written in endless spy novels.

i view this as a film, i don't give a **** about the source material, Olyphant looks a little clean cut but overall i expect him to deliver.

How you in one post can fling **** at the Hitman movie for not being close enough to the source and then mention "Beowulf" and "I Am Legend" as better adaptations is beyond me.

Ha, so true. I'm so worried about "I Am Legend" from the trailers alone. First off the vampires aren't vampires, he's in NY city, he has a dog from the start, the 'vampires' are seen attacking him during the day, etc.
Looks like a lot of changes. Change doesn't necessarily mean bad but there's no need to mess with Richard Matheson.:cmad:

As for Hitman, can't wait. New trailer was aces.

Timothy Olyphant is still wrong for the role and having a love interest only ruins the story. I know I'll avoid this film because they didn't get it right and they cast the wrong person for the role.

Olyphant's a great actor. He's a good choice for the role.

How can anyone defend this or praise it? It looks to be your typical mindless action film with nice homages to the game, that's all it has and people blindly praise it? Hitman should be in the vain of Bourne/Casino Royale, not some Universal Soldier/Terminator rip-off.

Because no one - aside from critics - has seen it yet... And a trailer means jacks**t when it comes to the actual movie; it's only used to lure in audiences, so of course it's going to be it action-oriented with a movie of this kind.

Looks like all that's left for decent adaptations this year is Beowulf and I Am Legend

This coming from someone who's passed judgement on a film they havn't seen? :whatever:

Bingo!

You're right, it is my opinion. When push comes to shove I can't see this film delivering in any fashion and Olyphant is truly wrong for the role. Is he better than Vin Diesel? Of course. I'm sure anything that isn't Vin Diesel would be better than him.

However, it doesn't change the fact that this will be a watered down story, horrible acting, and judging from the clips I've seen Olyphant doesn't give a promising performance. He doesn't have that detached, cold, ruthless, and yet cool suave reaction that 47 has.

Silent Hill, in my opinion, has been the only decent video game adaptation in terms of remaining true to the material and not deviating.

@Cito- I am well aware of the changes in I Am Legend. I have made my stance known against them for quite sometime. I voiced my displeasure in the fact that there isn't a Ben Cortman, no Virgnia, Ruth, and how they're not really vampires. Only difference is I Am Legend looks to actually be a good film with the changes. Hitman looks like crap with a crap actor, crap story, and just mindless action.

Again this is my opinion, but I do expect Hitman to receive horrible reviews and flop at the box office.

THIS is Agent 47.

Olyphant is nowhere close to pulling off that look. I can also tell he didn't research the character or play the games, as he doesn't even try to look detached or sound formal in his dialogue.

LOL, oh i give up, you start by saying you finally respect that it's your opinion and then in the next paragraph TELL me exactly how the movie is and what i am seeing. *Sigh*

If you made a movie based off of a game, made it word for word, style for style, actor for actor, story for story etc etc..........what the hell would be the point in making the movie? Why not just charge 9 bucks for the game.
Plus I never really heard anybody say: "You know, game "whatever" would be really cool if they would just stop putting in all the killing and action right in the middle of the story."

I've seen enough video game films and read what actors/directors said to know that it won't live up to their promises. I remember Doom looked nice in the trailers, actors/directors saying that Hell/demons are explored in the film, and come to find out that changed the material to scientists experimenting with genetics.

Of course I respect my opinion Hunter. And yes, what I stated is what the film will have. I guarantee it actually.

@Crow- I'm not saying make it word for word like the game. But remain true to the game and not bastardize the material by giving 47 a love interest, casting an actor too young and too nice looking for the role, and including mindless action and explosions. That's not storytelling. In order to pull off Hitman faithfully it should be similar to Bourne/Casino Royale.

Again it's MY opinion. If the film is good and receives good/great reviews I'll gladly admit that I was wrong. Unlike some posters I can admit when I'm wrong.

Good god. This is pure fanboyism to the extreme.

So says the guy who was doing the exact same whining, complaining, and yelling about X3, Die Hard 4.0, and a plethora of other films based off of comics, video games, and legendary action characters. :whatever:

So no offense Worthy, if I were you, I'd watch where I was throwing stones and calling "pure fanboyism to the extreme."

NEWS FLASH: you're on a comic book movie website...(do i even need to say this?)there's obviously a plethora of nerdy fanboys who are all about the source material!

.

Doom isn't Hitman. and again ive seen the trailers and i disagree completely, so you can guarantee all you want but it's irrelevant b/c your guarantees will hold true for YOU b/c you made your mind up as soon as they didn't cast the nobody you wanted .

Hell, I was against Vin Diesel and against Olyphant. Bateson, Bale, or even the actor who played The Pretender would be better choices. Like I said if the film is good I'll admit I was wrong.

I don't believe I am wrong though. But we'll see what happens on the 21st.

no, Doom isn't Hitman. But Doom is also a very, very popular video game with a large dedicated fanbase. Doom and Hitman are both equal in popularity if you ask me.

i don't believe you will admit you are wrong either so that makes us even, and you also have to take into account that what you think is good doesn't actually make it good.

Actually I have admitted I was wrong. You know I was against Live Free or Die Hard and when I saw it I gladly posted that I was wrong and found it to be an enjoyable film.

Just like I admitted I was wrong about Umaga and found myself warming up to the character. I can and WILL admit that I was wrong if this film turns out to be good. Until then I'll continue to state my displeasure with the direction of the film, the actor, and Fox watering down a great story.

Still looks too nice and not detached looking.

THIS is Agent 47. He is a marvelous stage/film actor and his voice/face is used as the prototype for Agent 47.

Did you post the Umaga love in invisible ink ? The actor thing has clouded all reason with you IMO, the story is every bit as good as the run of the mill spy/assassin stuff of the games it is based on. The direction looks to be stylish and in keeping with the game aesthetic.

I never yelled about those, some complaints, yes. I never said those movies would suck due to changes from the source material. I didn't care for what those particular changes were (Cyclops, Angel, and McClane being cleaned up) and have been vocal about that, but I didn't count those against the movies.

I loved Live Free or Die Hard despite a more clean John McClane, but X3 sucked. Not because it wasn't true to the source, but because it was poor filmmaking on Ratner's part.

And if I were an extreme fanboy, I would've torn the new Halloween to shreds, but I thought it was very good.

Again replicant homages to the game doesn't equal a good film. Look at the Youtube videos I provided, because apparently, people think I am talking out of my ass here and not providing an intelligent argument.

I looked at the vids, i'd never have cast that guy if i wanted to make money.
