The Hitman Teaser Trailer Attached to Live Free Or Die Hard?
Written by Robert Sanchez
Wednesday, 04 April 2007
One of our studio insiders has just sent the IESB a tidbit of news in regards to the Hitman feature film. The teaser trailer should hopefully make its debut on Live Free or Die Hard.

The Hitman feature film has been in production for less than a couple of weeks but filmmakers are making an effort to get the teaser trailer ready by June 29th, 2007 just in time for the release of the 4th installment of the Die Hard franchise.

The Hitman stars Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47 and Dougray Scott will play the antagonist.

They got 3 solid months of shooting to get footage for a teaser:up:

Since when is Interpol an investigation agency?

Interesting. Live Free or Die Hard would be a pretty good movie for the trailer to hit with.

Hitman Plot Details
Filming under way in Bulgaria.
by IGN Staff

US, April 23, 2007 - With principal photography now under way on Twentieth Century Fox and EuropaCorp's Hitman, an official plot synopsis for the Xavier Gens-directed action-thriller has been released. The screenplay was adapted by Skip Woods (Swordfish) from the hugely successful Eidos videogame franchise.

The official synopsis says that Agent 47 (Deadwood's Timothy Olyphant) has been educated to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name.

The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they're trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47's survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl…

In addition to Olyphant, the cast includes Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II), Olga Kurylenko (Paris je t'aime), Robert Knepper (Prison Break), Ulrich Thomsen (Festen) and Michael Offei (Casino Royale).

EuropaCorp's Pierre-Ange LePogam is producing for Fox with the main unit shooting in and around the Bulgarian capital of Sofia for a total of 12 weeks. A second unit will shoot in locations including South Africa, Istanbul, St. Petersburg and London.

Hitman will be released in France through EuropaCorp Distribution and in the rest of the world through Twentieth Century Fox.

Eh, just as long as they don't have him fall in love with the girl and show how he's the perfect clone during his creation it'll be a great movie. Plot sounds great though, just needs to have those two things and it'll be great.

Hitman kicks off

Fox has announced that production on the adaptation of popular video game HITMAN has begun this week in Sofia. No the film will not take place solely in the ample cleavage of Sofia Vergara but Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Co-starring in the film with Timothy Olyphant and Dougray Scott are a veritable who's who of actors. And by who's who, I mean who??? There's Olga Kurylenko (OK, she's pretty hot, Robert Knepper, Ulrich Thomsen, and Michael Offei. According to the official synopsis, the plot goes a little sumpin like this: "Agent 47 (Olyphant) has been educated to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name. The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the HITMAN across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they’re trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47’s survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl…" AWWWWW. What a sweetie. No word yet on when HITMAN will hit theaters here in the States.

I'm still far from convinced Olympant is the right choice for Agent 47, he's always seemed way too pretty to play Hitman

David Bateson(the voice actor of Agent 47 and whose face is used as a model for him) campaigned strongly for the role. The studio didn't want to take a chance at hiring an unknown to do the performance.

If you've seen a picture of him and seen him act, he IS Agent 47 and could pull off the role brilliantly in a live action format.

(Here's a performance from Bateson in a recent movie he recently starred in)

Wow!

That was a brilliant performance.

What movie is that from? I need to check that out.

I hope Olymant does a halfway decent job, compared to that.

The movie is called "God Moves In Mysterious Ways"

Obviously he does the voice and is the model for Agent 47. However, I scratch my head as to why the studio wouldn't hire him? WB hires an unknown to play an iconic superhero, but Fox is too stupid to hire a trained actor who does the voice and whose face is used for Agent 47?

Olympant is a really good actor, and will probably do justice to the role, I just can't see him playing the bald hardass hitman

He is probably too old for what the studio is looking for, and doesn't really seem to have the hollywood draw power of someone like Olympant, but he is clearly a very talented guy.

Brandon Routh isn't a big name and he got to play an iconic character. Hollywood needs to start going for more unknowns with acting skill.

Bateson does the voice, his face is used for the model, and he can act really well. I know Olympant is a much bigger name compared to Bateson, however, with the right make-up or de-aging effects it could've been done for Bateson.

Why ? when they can go for someone who is a name and has acting skill plus SR is a totally different case, they were looking for a look and selling the movie was down to the name Superman not a big name just like with Spidey,Hitman is a very small franchise in comparison,if your'e a studio putting money in you want some faith.

Why not? Just because he's an unknown doesn't mean it won't make money.

With the right advertising, the right look, and the right atmosphere the film could be a hit if they just gave Bateson a chance to do the role rather than going for a known name. Granted, Olympant isn't Vin Diesel obviously, and thankfully they scrapped Diesel from the role, but if you look at the link I provided you'd see that Bateson should've been considered and should've been casted.

Judging from the it seems like they're not doing the story justice anyways. Oh well.

Obviously we won't know the quality of the film until it's released, the plot doesn't give me much hope at all for this movie or the franchise. I just feel they'll cheesify it, give Agent 47 a love interest, and won't make him out to be the cold genetic assassin clone that he is.

Looks like Silent Hill will remain as the only somewhat decent/good video game adaptation.

Why not is easy, there isn't one hit movie that cost the kind of moeny being put into this with a no name.Ive seen the link,he's ok but i'd prefer someone i know has chops in Olyphant

As for the film,it's no real surprise they added in a love interest, even the most badass of badasses have had that from McClane to Bauer

We don't need someone who can make 47 cry. Agent 47 is cold, ruthless, and there's not much to his character as he's in a sense almost like a Terminator only human to an extent. From the stories of the game we don't see him as a very compassionate being, aside from his caring and comfort of animals, his relationship with the priest in Silent Assassin, and so forth.

I understand where you're coming from and all, but I feel Bateson should've at least been given a chance or considered. That's just me though.

And that works fine in a game where males mostly play and just want to be badass but in a movie there has to be some empathy and some heart there for the general audience to connect with otherwise you have no soul in the movie.
