The Horror Thread - Part 3

I hope the next Halloween movie places Michael back to his roots, stalking completely random people for no discernible reason.

That would be very welcome, I think they need to reboot again but they don't need to do another origin.

Bruce campbell on rumors of new Army of Darkness movie:

"There's no reality whatsoever. These random comments slip out of my mouth or Sam Raimi’s mouth, next thing you know, we're making a sequel. So unless it’s announced from Renaissance Pictures, it’s not real. Or unless you have a start date or a release date. We do appreciate people’s enthusiasm for another Army Of Darkness, but they should just wait until it’s real. And I feel bad for people because the Internet is so prey to misinformation… So I just encourage to get the real information, not just if you heard something.”

I just bumped the Evil Dead 4 thread with the exact same news at the exact same time. :funny:

Even if you're hearing it from Bruce Campbell? haha

"Aka we want to make AOD2 but the studios have the final say"

That's the gist of it. Bruce may want to do it, Raimi may be willing to direct it and have a script but without the studio it doesn't mean anything.

I'm honestly not only annoyed at the way Bruce is acting but I'm somewhat offended. The man knows how the fans would react and he acts as though his word isn't valued when he says somethings going to happen, then completely acts as if he never said it is just flat out careless pigheaded.

To be fair, every single time he's at any kind of show, people ask him about it. That's got to get on his nerves.

Agreed, he just loves attention. I think he's acting like a right prick tbh.

That's exactly my feelings on the matter I don't care if he's asked about it everytime he gets interviewed, all due respect to Bruce it's probably the only thing that would be a light at the end of the tunnel for his career at this point it's not like he's done anything good in a long time.

Exactly

I like BOTH Zombie Halloween films.

BOOM. That. Just. Happened.

*waits for members to lynch me off the face of the Earth*

Someone get the rope! And find a really big tree with thick sturdy branches! (Oak tends to work best)

wasn't he a regular on Burn Notice?

Yeah, he's just coming off a long term series that was quite successful. Hardly a light at the end of the tunnel situation for him.

As much as fans hate on what Zombie did with the backstory and "rednecky" approach to Halloween, I felt Myers was a legit threat again. He felt like a force to be reckoned with. Something I don't think any of the sequels outside of H2 and H20 accomplished very well.

he was a legit threat. i just didn't care for the people he was threatening.
and i'm not a fan of giant hulking Myers. the original shape was scary because he could have been anyone beneath that mask. he was superstrong because of evil and/or insanity.

And I don't see much similarities with the PD Chainsaw and Friday even though they were directed by the same guy. Texas Chainsaw Massacre was much more stylized and hyper-gritty. Friday the 13th was more naturalistic in it's photography. I guess Jason having a liar is what makes them similar:huh:

I for one don't understand how Friday fans can hate the 09 film. It's like a lost sequel more than anything. Like Friday the 13th part 3.5. It's like some hate it because it's labeled a remake. Not to mention they bemoan aspects of that film they love and champion in the originals.

i liked the remake. i wish that they had made it with sequels, in mind.

Eh if you call that successful, I thought the show was really lame and I'm talking about his film career not television.

I guess that depends on your opinion of the quite successful Burn Notice, which he worked on for several years.

It was actually the end of Burn Notice that actually got a lot of the talk about Army of Darkness stirred up.

Edit: What Teelie said.

put it in perspective. not everyone's meant to be a movie star. not everyone can be a successful television actor. Bruce Campbell managed to be a popular supporting character on a semi-popular television show. given that he's known for one thing (2 if you count bubbahotep); being the lead in a cult b movie, i'd say that he's doing better than expected.

Especially at his age.

Do actors really delineate between their film and TV careers or is it just work?

Is Michael J Fox recieving accolades for the Good Wife or starring in his own show really a step down?

I always felt that good 'Ol Bruce had leading man status in him, it shows to me at least, and sorry but I don't really care for Burn Notice though I guess it's better that he's still acting than not but to me it's not impressive.

Television and movie roles are no longer so exclusive like they used to be. A lot of actors are now moving between the two fluidly without harming their status as a movie or television star.

How many 80s horror film actors have succesful TV careers almost 30 years later?

Most others just scrounge a living on the horror con circuit.

There's only one Bruce Campbell Redhawk, that man was bred with pure charisma oozing from his mouth, there will never be another man like him ;)
