The Horror Thread - Part 4

30th, for sure. Ends the sci-if with a bang and brings in the horror.
If I watch it after my radio show (which will probably have to happen) then it will go into both days perfectly.

Speaking of the Thing, anyone have it on BD? Been thinking of upgrading it (which I rarely do) and just want to know how it looks.

I'd like to see a new Golem Movie.

One horror adaption that I hope gets attention in this comicbook mania world we live in is Hack Slash. Cassie Hack is friggen awesome and there are so many hardcore horror things you can bring in that world from crossover characters to tributes. Under the right Direction and casting that would movie would ****ing rock. Pretty sick of all this haunting, found footage and torture bs. Although Tusk was awesome and completely out there. Want to see the horror genre get more in the full on monster realm and splatterhouse.

Really looking forward to that Night Breed Directors Cut.

I've watched Soi Cheang's Home Sweet Home, starring Hsu Chi, Karena Lam and Alex Fong.

it was interesting, because it was both a horror movie (some would say it was more of a thriller, but I would argue it was chilling with some really frightening shots) and a social movie. The story was well written, it was well acted, and the pace was good.

It's about a couple who move in a new place, and their son is abducted by some kind of creature, but everybody, including the police thinks the mother is crazy. She will go to great legth to find her son back.

Anyone get an early start on their 31 Nights of Halloween? Since I have late work tonight, decided to start after I closed out Sci-Fi-September. And I'm glad I did.

0.5. John Carpenter's The Thing
1. Carnival of Souls

Yeah, already a good start to the month, I think.

Carnival of Souls is great. If you're talking about the old one...haven't watched the new, but heard that it's crap.

The one from 1980 something has a really bad reputation.

From the description of it, it sounds like garbage.

But the 60s version is fantastic. I think I watched it last year, but I'm not sure (senile already?). Scarier than modern horror movies.

Yes, I was talking the original. Glad I started the month off with that. Plus it took a DVD of my pile of unwatched films.

Started mine earlier with Tokyo Gore Police. Brutal, but a lot of fun.

Going to try and get this list done as I haven't done a daily movie marathon yet. Last year, I did three franchise marathon days towards the end of October with Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Scream.

I watched a goofy little monster-on-a-train movie called Horror Express starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing and Telly Sevelas of Blofeld fame. It wasn't great but actually had a pretty good monster design (a half thawed, rotten ice-man) that turned out to be possessed by Satan, who was in fact an extra-terrestrial. Actually now that I'm thinking about it, most of this was pretty great.

I've waited for years for them to offer it again: Geeky Jersey's has made their Elm Street Nightmares jersey available, probably for a month or so!

If you've never heard of the site, they sell custom made jerseys. You can get whatever name or number you want. I went with what they have shown here though. It was $115 after shipping.

Check it out.

Too expensive, which sucks because I can even get it in my size.

Agreed. I've read the comics, and they're pretty damn cool. A movie about how Cassie and Vlad met and why they teamed up to hunt slashes would be awesome.

31 Days of Horror starting off with The Thing (2011), followed by John Carpenter's The Thing.

I actually got a late start to my movie watching, as I spent much of the day asleep, and the rest of the day decorating for Halloween.

Yeah, I'd love one of those jerseys but the cost is out of my reasonable price range.

0.5: John Carpenter's The Thing
1. Carnival of Souls '62
2. Thir13en Ghosts '01

Might squeeze Friday's movie in tonight. It's only 2 AM.

Its a chunk of change, but even normal hockey jerseys are expensive as hell, if not even more than these and that's not even considering Geeky Jersey's stuff is all custom made. You can get whatever number and name you want.

Day 2: The Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror V, VI, VII, and XII.

Technically not horror, but still Halloween related. Besides, I'm watching them at work (shhhhh, I'm really not supposed to be doing that).

I won't be able to do a 31days marathon. That said, I will keep my pace of one horror movie every 3 or 4 days. I've watched the first episode of penny dreadful yesterday. It has a lot of potential.
