I don't know a lot about Horror Films OST but I usually like John Carpenter's music for his movies and some of Goblin music for Argento and Romero as well as Rosemary's Baby's eerie main theme, I think The Omen has good music too.

Horror movies really don't scare me. They can get me with cheap jump scares but that's about it. But even that's hard to do, as I usually can tell when it's coming. I mean when I was a kid Chucky and Freddy scared the CRAP out of me. Once I got older horror movies didn't scare me anymore. I am waiting for a horror movie that can legitimately scare me. Video games like Dead Space 1, outlast and the new demo for Silent Hill have scared me way more than any movie ever has.

You're probably talking about scores...but as an 80's Hard Rock/Metal fan...I still have a cheesy love for Dokken's "Dream Warriors", WASPs "Scream Until You Like It" and the soundtracks to movies like Trick Or Treat and Black Roses.

- Alien, for the minimalism
- The Fly II (ok the movie wasn't that good, but the score by Christopher Young was awesome)
- The Thing (1982), also for the minimalism
- The Village, for its effective use of violin

It's a good one, but I prefer his Escape from New York score.

I agree.

I love James Wan, but The Conjuring is overrated. I even think Insidious is his better film.

Conjuring is a better film, if only because the 3rd act follows the action that came before it in a logica manner, instead of throwing in a random twist curveball out of nowhere. On top of that, the whole "out of body" and what your abilities are while astral projecting are very vague. And unfortunately, once you see the full demon, he goes from looking frightening to ridiculous.

Still, the first 2/3 of that film are great.

And I'm really bummed to hear about the Annabelle film. I would love to see a series based off the Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga Warrens.

Will it be released in North America too? Because ever since those stupid Michael Bay/Platinum Dunes remakes, that's all you can ever find at the video store. Nobody carries the original anymore!

So I picked up the 2 Disc Edition of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. I've of course seen it and like it, but I also picked up the Scream Factory releases of Psycho II and Psycho III. I have never seen them, but I was surprised to find out that they actually did pretty well critically. So I'm looking forward to watching them.

I've heard Psycho IV is alright, didn't read reviews on it, but it seems to not only not be in continuity with the other sequels, but not have great word of mouth.

For the most part, I really enjoyed the Psycho sequels. Part 2 actually scared me more than the original did. Not sure if its because it was in colour, or because this time the killings were shown more than implied (ie: there was gore). Part 4, I found really interesting as it strays from the tropes established in the first few movies and delves more into Norman's psyche, his past, and how/why he became the way he was. Through flashbacks we get to see him as a child, as a teen, and eventually a young man. As its the last in the series, and one of the last films made by Tony Perkins before his death, it is an interesting way to end that particular franchise.

I'm not a big fan of Creepshow 2...it's not even close to the first one. It's pretty sleazy and sadistic.

I actually kinda liked Creep show 2.

I'm working on my list of films for this Halloween's 31 days of Horror film fest. Anyone else do this?

I don't go out of my way to make a list of which movies I'm gonna watch on which day, but I do make a point of watching at least one horror (or at least Halloween themed) movie per day during the month of October. I also like to spend my time shopping for new/previously owned horror DVDs to add to my collection. Then you're my enemy! Kidding...I liked parts of it, but it didn't live up to the original Creepshow.

The "best" story is probably the one with the wooden Indian (or Native American, I don't know). The Raft had some good moments, and the hitchhiker story was terrible.

I used to have a tradition of eating Count Chocula for breakfast on October 31st, but they don't sell it in Canada anymore. And they stopped selling Frankenberry and Booberry decades ago. Kinda pisses me off.

I don't know, sorry. The one's I saw listed were for the UK.

You're best bet is to check on bluray.com and see if it's there.

The hitchhiker story was more comical ("Thanks for the ride lady!")than scary even though it used to freak me out as a little kid. But each story had it's share of laughable moments, imo.

Watched a movie from 1981 called Possession, starring Sam Neil. What a weird movie. But good! Check it out if you want a cross between Lynch and Cronenberg.
