For the live of me I'll never understand the love for The Conjuring and Insidious.

I only recently watched Sinister for the first time and really enjoyed it, but the ending could have been better.

yeah, Sinister is great, but the jump scare before the credits was dumb.

The Conjuring was alright, as was Insidious.

Insidious: Chapter 2, however, is absolute guff. It's almost a parody of itself and it's easily Wan's weakest movie yet.

There are so many badly made haunted house and possession movies that it elevates the competent well made one.

I really liked The Conjuring.

Insidious 1 and 3 were good. 2 was terrible.

I didn't like Sinister. I didn't think it was scary or interesting.

The Conjuring 2 starts filming this fall.

I enjoyed The Conjuring.

Insidious, not so much. And the reason is because we see what the demon spirit thing looks like and it ruins the whole feel of the movie. Up until that point, it was good, but that thing playing the piano just cheapened everything. I prefer horror movies where you don't see the spirit or demon causing all the ruckus.

Did you miss the part far earlier in the movie where that same demon is dancing around?

I enjoy Insidious mostly because it is so ridiculous.

On that note, the Poltergeist re-make seemed so completely redundant in a world with the heavily Poltergeist-influence Insidious series.

The Conjuring gets a lot of love because while it might not be the most innovative film, it uses a certain kind of old school toolset and it uses it well. There are a lot of individual scenes that I feel have near perfect setup and pay off. The scene with the hide and seek and the clapping that they used as a trailer pretty much worked as a short film in and of itself.

I liked how in Insidious 3 they were fully aware of the ridiculousness of the movie.

When Elise starts headbutting ghosts you know they aren't taking themselves too seriously.

The poltergeist remake was more like a tv movie than anything. I hated it.

I saw both The Conjuring and Insidious not too long ago. I really liked The Conjuring quite a bit, but didn't much care for Insidious. It was alright I guess, but I think for me it was just a case of people over-hyping a movie.

I appreciated the old school aesthetic that The Conjuring appropriated, and I liked the slow-burn script, but once the big scares started coming it all delved into the same well-worn schlock that most modern horror films lean on. The third act in particular abandoned all that it seemed to aspire toward and revealed it to be yet another mediocre James Wan horror film.

Have you guys ever seen In the mouth of Madness? It's a freakin awesome movie with a lovecraftian twist. I really reccomend it.

Just watched All Hallow's Eve and someone who has a clown phobia it was not advisable :) Sadistic touture porn basically with a clown.

in the mouth of madness is awesome.

I was disappointed by Fido when I saw it a few years ago, but I may need to watch it again.

I really like The Conjuring because it only isn't a good horror movie, it's a good movie. It keeps you interested with more than just scares and horror cliches. The scares are great too, really love that scene of one of the daughters explaining what she is seeing in the shadows and what the spirit was telling her.

Other modern horror movies i really like are Babadook, White (korean movie), Sinister and Starry Eyes. It Follows was great too, though i didn't really find it scary.

I really love Wan's directing style. It's fun to watch and he makes cool aesthetic choices.

I didn't really enjoy babadook myself. The scenes where he crawls on the wall and the show that the mom watches were probably my favorite parts. But for the most part I was just bored and annoyed with the kid. It follows was awesome though. I loved the cinematography and atmosphere but I agree that it wasn't scary at all.

I love both The Conjuring and Insidious. Insidious 2 wasn't too scary but still interesting and engaging.

No there not.:o

Maybe you don't understand because of your bad grammar. *waits for grammar police comments*. Don't care either. **** is so annoying to me haha. It's basic grammar, it's sad some people can't even accomplish that.

Anyone seen 'Starry Eyes', any good ?

It's a pretty good movie. Very hard hitting towards the end.

There are some kind of odd story telling issues. Basically the film makes the mistake of presenting a metaphor for something but then also just directly having the actual thing it is referencing. I did like the story.

I have lot of respect for the movie though. It lacks a bit of polish in terms of its cinematography but it also holds nothing back and tries a few kinds of shots I had never seen before.

I'd recommend it, especially since its available on several legal streaming sites.

So I saw The Town that Dreaded Sundown not-really-a-remake last night and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Very stylish little movie, the story seemed a little familiar at times but nothing too bad I'd say. I really liked that it didn't go for being a remake but evolved into it's own thing. Worth a watch.

I just know I will be dragged to seeing Sinister 2. My brother is a horror film ****e. He'll spread his legs for just about any "scary" film (i.e. seeing The Gallows). Yet he thought The Conjuring sucked and liked The Gallows. So...I know he has bad taste. :o
