I think it did just fine without being R rated. I feel the emotional scenes worked so well that it makes up for it. Had loads of fun watching it anyway.

That's a very good question. Why hasn't The Creature From The Black Lagoon ever been remade?

They've been trying to. It's been in various stages of development (or development Hell) for, like a decade or so now. They even had what sounded like it could have been a potentially cool pitch for it.

But for whatever reason(s) they're having trouble getting it off of the ground.

How is it that of all the Universal monsters Creature from the Black Lagoon is the only one not to get some kind of remake?

Whats weird about that is that the Creature from the Black Lagoon is the only Universal Monster not rooted in the Public Domain.

Any Dracula or Frankenstein movie risks being up against other adaptations at the same time. Anyone could make werewolf or mummy movies.

The Final Girls is pretty good. It obviously is not in the same league as Cabin in the Woods or Scream (two of of the best in the genre)...but I do think it had heart. It's enjoyable enough and the concept is fun. It's been a bad, bad year for Horror, so this is a rare gem in 2015.

Incredible the kinds of twisted legnths some people will go through to try and prey off of other people's kindness. With that being said 2 horror movies I recently saw were Creep and Compliance. Both dreadful movies about a sociopath trying to take advantage of someone. They didn't seem overly theatrical with stupid scares and got me thinking while watching them.

Compliance involves a prank caller pretending to be a cop calling a fast food joint using their authority to create a very disturbing situation. Creep involved a somewhat suppressed? individual seeking out a job offer from an ad to film for a day... What ensues is something truly disturbing and not totally unrealistic. It got me thinking what horrors we may encounter when we don't truly know someone or how good natured trusting individuals get taken advantage of. Truly something that could extend beyond the month of October on a day to day basis.

Pretty much everything that happens in Compliance is based on true events. They didn't all happen at one restaurant, but several years ago there was a prank caller who dialed several restaurants pretending to be a cop and had the managers (and in one extreme case, a manager's boyfriend or husband) do that stuff to female employees. Really, really crazy what people will do when someone who even CLAIMS to be an authority figure asks them to do it.

Day 10: Friday The 13th Part 2 and The Number 23 (the second one is more of a thriller than horror, but that's at least a sub-genre of horror)

Does anyone find it odd that Wes Craven never directed a Stephen King adaptation? I feel like that was obvious match made in heaven. Did they not like each other and/or one didn't like the other?

I mean, John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Stanley Kubrick, Brian De Palma, Rob Reiner, and Frank Darabont all played in the King Sandbox... but not Craven??

Creep(2015): It was kinda bad. The acting wasn't convincing, there were a lot of unintentionally funny moments and it was kinda boring. I liked how restrained it was and a couple of scenes but overall it just didn't work.

I watched A Christmas Horror Story (2015)

It reminded me a lot of Trick 'r Treat. Keep in mind, it is nowhere near as good as that movie...but it kind of feels like a Christmas version of it. It's an anthology of (mostly) stand-alone stories that all take place in the same town. The difference is that instead of showing one story and then another, it flips back and forth between the stories so that they all conclude near the end of the film. A few of them have fairly weak endings, and the stories share some thematic elements, so this tactic helps the viewing experience.

If you watch Christmas themed Horror films in December, give this a watch then...I kind of wish I had waited til then to watch it.

I used to confuse CFTBL with swamp thing. I tougth those where comics based on the movie.

Warhol's Dracula was pretty good though.

I just picked up the new blu ray 4K transfer of Coppola's Dracula. It looks pretty great, and of course the movie is still fun. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. So much scenery chewing, but it's one of my October horror mainstays.

Warhol's Dracula was pretty good though.

I preferred his Dracula over Frankenstein of course, but it was nice to see a different type of Frankenstein story.

I never saw the Last House remake. Still gotta get around to it. I haven't gotten to watch too much this month, work and a lot of shows on my DVR. So far though watched

I'm doing my horror movie marathon for the month and part of it is the Friday the 13th series for the sake of having seen it. I'm on the remake right now and I think the first 25 minutes was the most pointless 25 minutes I've seen in a film in ages. You could completely remove it and not change the film at all.

I haven't seen the NOES or the FT13th remake since they were released, maybe I should rewatch them one of these days.
