I haven't seen the NOES or the FT13th remake since they were released, maybe I should rewatch them one of these days.

Rewatch the FT13th remake. It's fun and I like that they took Jason back to more like he was in Parts II, III, and IV. Avoid the NOES remake like the plague, bleh.

I'd LOVE to see Guillermo del Tor direct a Dracual or Creature from the Black Lagoon film. That would be AMAZING!!

Reposting for the new page because of AWESOME.

Posted these in the 'Pictures of Awesome' thread. Might as well post them in here too.

You missed the project he actualy wants to make: Frankenstein.

He has said for long that it's a passion project of his.

I just seen Oculus recently and I though Karen Gillan's character in the movie was unlikable.

TBH, both remakes have both their positive and negative traits. Friday The 13th, as you said, takes Jason back to the way he was in Parts 2, 3, and 4. Unfortunately that's the only good part in that movie.

A Nightmare On Elm Street had a genuinely creepy atmosphere, as well as some surprisingly effective jump scares. I also liked that Freddy wasn't making dumb jokes and bad puns through the whole film. But again, that's all that I can say that's positive about those movies.

Both films have Unlikeable and/or boring main characters/victims. The whole "maybe Freddy was innocent" thing was terrible. And just very lackluster in execution with both films.

I noticed a few nods to parts 2 and 3 as well like the pillow case mask from 2, and the final showdown being in a barn like in 3.

I actually love both the F13th and Nightmare remakes. That's just me  good stuff

Well I liked the F13th remake. I can't see anyone loving the Nightmare remake though because it stumbles and then falls.

I thought they were serviceable reboots and both franchises could of continued off of them. Instead we have these one-offs that won't fit anywhere.

That trailer for the Friday the 13 game was awesome. I'm not big on video games but I do want to play that. Hopefully you get to play as Jason this time. Also Freddy should be one of the bosses you have to fight.

I watched The Omen, the original, for the first time this morning. I really liked it. There was an overwrought quality to a lot of the acting that while unintentionally funny was legitimately entertaining. The movie moves along at a good pace.

There is one character's death scene that I have a feeling directly inspired the entirety of the Final Destination franchise. It was set up in such a similar way.

The photographers beheading right.

I would like to see a new Jekyll and Hyde film and also a Golem movie.

Wasn't there some talk a while back about Universal launching it's own shared cinematic universe type of thing with classic monsters?

Pretty much everything that happens in Compliance is based on true events. They didn't all happen at one restaurant, but several years ago there was a prank caller who dialed several restaurants pretending to be a cop and had the managers (and in one extreme case, a manager's boyfriend or husband) do that stuff to female employees. Really, really crazy what people will do when someone who even CLAIMS to be an authority figure asks them to do it.
That's real horror a lot of us could encounter.

I remember another story back in college, not so much a scam but a deviously clever advertisement. I clicked on a website claiming your the such as such number visitor. Being young and naive, I called the number. Of course I talked to a receptionist saying I could receive a cash prize as advertised so gave my personal info. then as long as I agreed they transferred me to someone asking to record the conversation. Of course this stupid advertisement was a front to have you look at houses down in Florida (have to pay a bit over a $1000.00 to get down there and go through their showings and they'll hook you up with a nice "vacation" if you can bring about 2 other people with or something like that). The guy when I expressed hesitation asked why I expressed willingness to talk to him and pressured as if I was wasting his time. For a few seconds, I felt like I just felt obligated to go with it but then the forefront of the brain took over and essentially ended the conversation in a not too pleasant manner.

The movie I found it interesting how the prank caller expressed appreciation to the manager for going the extra mile and how just simple stuff like they'll just kind of do 1 simple step (which of course led to many others) as it would save the time of having to bring her down to jail and go through the process. The thought of that so scary it made them do 1 crazy little thing then it's like everyone's brain shutoff. Very realistic. Not surprised at all it's based on true events.

Supposedly still happening with a re-launch of The Mummy. The Door is open for them to include Dracula Untold if they want.

Unfortunately their plan is to make all of them action adventure movies and its all being ran by Alex Kurtzman of Orci/Kurtzman infamy. Yuck.

Good lord that all sounds awful. :funny:

Just gonna hope for the best.heh

A Horrible Way To Die(2010): It was a decent thriller, I liked the premise and it had a lot of really good parts but the cinematography was HORRIBLE! the shaky cam is even worse than a found footage movie which is saying a lot, it was almost unwatchable. I was also disappointed because it was made by the guy who directed You're Next and The Guest and this film isn't nearly as good as those.

Coherence(2013): Its a thriller rather than a horror but its really interesting and engaging, the characters feel natural and that really helps the immersion. It had more shaky cam that I like but it wasn't nearly as distracting as in A Horrible Way To Die. I loved this movie.

I saw new British werewolves on a train movie 'Howl'. Is there some unwritten rule that Sean Pertwee must be in every British werewolf movie?
I would like to see a new Jekyll and Hyde film and also a Golem movie.

There is a hilariously bad Jekyll and Hyde show starting on ITV this moth.

I'm probably in the minority but I was disappointed by the original Mummy film. It's fine for what it does, but I much preferred the Christopher Lee Hammer Mummy film. It's just with the original we only see The Mummy for one scene and then it's just Imhotep in human form trying to get a woman.

I agree. Could have used more actual Mummy. I enjoy the film for it's atmosphere and, of course, Karloff, but you're right. Needs more Mummy

So guess out of the classic monsters, Frankenstein is your favorite? :oldrazz:
Partially....the main reason I started off with him was that there are so many movies to choose from. I still have a few more to go with Frankenstein in the title.

And yet no Andy Warhol Frankenstein. :cmad: :oldrazz:

You should have waited a day....here's what I've seen since I posted that list -

10/13/2015 Flesh for Frankenstein (1973) Udo Kier
10/14/2015*Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) Robert De Niro
10/15/2015 Frankenstein's Army (2013) Karel Roden

I don't try to fault a film for being something that's not within our own personal expectations, but when you have a film called The Mummy and the actual mummy is only there in one scene... I'm gonna be let down in some way. You watch these for the monsters. You can have a great story around it... but it's like naming a movie called Godzilla and he's only in the opening and for the rest of the film he is morphed back into a lizard.

I actually much prefer the 1999 remake. That had a nice middle ground to it in terms of having The Mummy there.
