The Horror Thread - Part 5

Watched the Eli Roth produced Clown, thought it was dreadful. Such a disappointment after such a great trailer, it was pretty boring, not scary, badly acted, poorly written and down right stupid at times (even for a little horror movie).

I enjoyed Clown. It was a little long, but that's my only complaint.

The acting certainly wasn't bad. I've definitely seen much worse in actual theatrical released horror movies.

...

Just finished watching Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. Bat**** Aussie horror movie. It was a lot of fun.

See I don't think it was overly long, just poorly structured, some things happened way to fast and some things happened way too slowly. It wasn't balanced well at all. The only thing I found interesting was the backstory about the clown, maybe a little more delving into that would have helped.

I thought everyone bar the lead was poor, the kids were terrible and the mother by God she was atrocious. Each to their own of course,

I watched Mercy which is an adaptation of Stephen King short story Gramma.

Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes from The Walking Dead and Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story) star in the film.

The film is changed a bit from the short story but still works well. The film only had a running time of 1 hour 15 minutes.

I watched Clown last night. I'm a big clown horror fan, so movies like this mean a lot to me. The movie was poor across the board, however the scene of the boy trying to find his brother in the play tunnel really unsettled me. Being in that confined space with no quick exit and no way of knowing whats around the corner creeps me out. Scenes in air vents do the same.

So would you guys call Se7en a horror movie or a thriller/suspense movie?

That's a pity. I literally just watched the trailer for that and thought it looked good.

It Follows is getting a tremendous amount of positive buzz. It released today and I have started a handy & informative thread about it here.

It Follows has been out here for a while now, just not had the chance to see it yet. I think the last showing is on Tuesday, so hopefully can check it out.

Where's here? I didn't see a date for anywhere but the States (and Cannes, but that was last May)

Anyway if you get to see it go post in my thread. Or go post there anyway :p

Doesn't look like my **** theater will get it at all so I'm out of luck until home release. :down I need to move out of the sticks

I'm in the UK and it's been out since Feb 27th.

If I get to see it, then yeah I'll post there.

Some guys who were walking in front of me down the street the other day were talking about It Hollows. It sounded like they enjoyed it.

I finally watched Digging Up the Marrow, I'd describe as found footage style mock documentary. I actually think it would have been a good idea just to make a normal horror film about a character who discovers this thing they call the Marrow. But I guess Adam Green wanted to do something a little different and credit to him for that. He definitely made something unique and interesting but I don't think he excecuted quite aswell as he maybe could have. One of the most disappointing things about this film was the ending, it was abit of a letdown and I wonder if the documentary format he went for is why he couldn't get a nailed on ending. To be honest I'm not sure exactly what was supposed to have happened at the end but maybe that was the intent. All in all I'd say it's a solid movie and would recommen it but I'm not sure it's going to have much rewatch value.

Has anyone else seen this yet?

I credit them for something different, but I simply can't call this a good movie. Boring, actors were unlikeable, and just not any fun to watch. The ending was bad and for a movie to be this boring you would think the pay off for the boring hour plus you watch nothing interesting. I'm thinking 1.5 or 2 out of 5. To make it better would have been to have actually gone down in there. Have main guy fall in with his camera and have to survive the marrow. Cool designs for monsters though.

Just saw your response to my mini review on the "last watched" thread, hopefully you can see it before they take it off. its quite a experience as ive mentioned the soundtrack cues threw me off . While used for simple scenes it totally raises the eerie moments. David Robert Mitchell nailed this to a tee ,it wasn't typical jump scare crap that todays generic horror films have used to death. He made certain scenes look terrifying with his camera work and music cues.

Scenes with slowly moving people coming from a distance with a 80's beat to go with is one of the most disturbing things in this film

Gonna have to disagree with you mostly there but each to their own. Also the reason they couldn't show us the Marrow was the budget.I would love for them to do more in this world (not in the documentary format though).

No thanks. Acting was terrible. The dialogue was bad too. It could've been a lot better even without budget, just by making the story better. I mean come on. Two scares throughout the whole movie.

Trailer for BEFORE I WAKE

Mike Flanagan's follow-up to OCULUS

Starring Thomas Jane, Kate Bosworth, Dash Mihok and Annabeth Gish

Hyped for both Before I Wake and It Follows. Don't think either of them will premiere here so will have to wait for the blu-ray.

Btw has anyone heard anything about Sinister 2? It's coming in august and there's been no news for a long while. Last i heard was that tomandandy were scoring the film. I liked their scores for the two latest Resident Evil movies.

I saw It Follows last week and absolutely loved it. If you are a fan of blood and guts horror its not for you. But if you love movies that establish real suspense and terror then I highly recommend it.

As a said check to their own, I didn't think the acting was bad at all or the dialogue.

It was a tense finale and I loved it. Another film set in that world but not a documentary format would be cool to see, for me.
