I just know I will be dragged to seeing Sinister 2. My brother is a horror film ****e. He'll spread his legs for just about any "scary" film (i.e. seeing The Gallows). Yet he thought The Conjuring sucked and liked The Gallows. So...I know he has bad taste. :o

Lmao your brother does have bad taste

Here's a review for an Irish film titled "The Hallow" that has been making the festival circuit. It played Sundance earlier this year.

I haven't heard anything about a wide release or home video yet.

All the reviews I've seen of it have pretty much agreed that the film can be a bit tedious but I've also heard consistently that the film has really good creature effects and is ultimately entertaining.

I'd like to see it soon.

I'm also waiting to hear about another Sundance film "The Witch" which is is set in Salem witch trials time but does involve a real witch and is supposed to be pretty good. A24 bought the film but they haven't announced a date yet.

Witch stuff has always creeped me out so I'm looking forward to "The Witch". I saw The Blair Witch Project a few months ago for the first time in years and it was just as good as the first time I saw it. It was the original "found footage" horror movie.

I think The Last Broadcast claims that title. It came out over a year before The Blair Witch Project.

So I'm watching Housebound right now on Netflix, and it's pretty damn boring. I mean there's certain parts in the writing and performances I like, but it just keeps dragging on. :csad:

I really enjoyed Housebound, but the humour isn't for everyone.

Oh I actually like the humor, I just think the pacing is too slow.

Morgana O'Reilly is brilliant. I can't believe she's still on that bloody Aussie soap, Neighbours, though.

I mean once it's passed the build up, it's really enjoyable but it just takes too long to get there. Plus I'm iffy on a lot of the musical score choices.

Was it good? I'll have to check it out.

I haven't seen it for such a long time, but I thought it was alright, for the time it came out anyway.

The Blair Witch Project is better.

Has anyone seen a Belgian horror movie called Cub? I've read a few good things about it and it's finally released on DVD here next week.

On the topic of found footage, I wanted to check out that yeti movie, heard some good things about it

I really want to watch "The Hallow". I heard nothing but good things about it. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same director who is up for doing "The Crow" reboot?

Watched The Lazarus Effect (2015)

I thought Olivia Wilde was famous enough to not have to do these types of movies?

Since they couldn't muster up enough will to make a movie that was anything more than stuff I've seen ten thousand times before, I can't muster up the will to review it in depth.

Standard, run of the mill, Hollywood Horror...blah. It won't make my "Worst of 2015" list, even if that's partly because I'll forget that the movie exists by tomorrow morning.

I saw Dark Was the Night. The film was not bad. I think it might of worked better as a tremors style B-movie pastiche than as a serious dramatic horror film.

I wasn't a big fan of the grieving father subplot and the movie dragged a lot. The pace is very slow. Some of the minor actors were terrible as well. It felt like the director pulled them off the street.

The Lazarus Effect is one of the worst movies I've ever seen ^

Anyway, I just saw Hausu a.k.a. House. Such a weird little movie. Not quite what I expected..dragged for a bit but I still liked it for some of the bizarre stuff that was happening:oldrazz:

It happens to me every year. In the first few months of the year there are so few new movies that I end up watching a few homemade crap slasher movies that were filmed on a 2 dollar budget in somebody's backyard. As a result, the generic Hollywood Horror movies that are garbage end up just above those films on my "worst of" list. I stopped that a lot quicker this year than usual though.

So I watchedThe Babadook the other night and I overall enjoyed the movie. At some parts it did feel like the high quality creepypasta shorts on youtube, but overall it was a nice refreshing movie.

I also watched the full season of Wayward Pines yesterday, and I'm really torn on how I feel about it. I like how it started off Children of the Corn-esque, but then after the reveal it became pretty much like every dystopian future young adult novel movie mixed with I Am Legend and Village of the Damned.
I liked where they were going pre-reveal, but after that it just got too 90's tv movie on Sci-Fi Channel. Granted yes, good Sci-Fi channel and not Syfy, but still tv movie.

I am very excited for that one.

I was in scouts for many years and stories about attacks from feral children (often lost scouts) was a staple at our campfires.

Might have to check Cub out when it comes out here in the US on DVD. I just have a question has anybody seen the Documentary the Nightmare I've heard people talk about it just want to know if its any good.

Finally saw The Mist in its entirety tonight. I had some issues with it, but a pretty good horror film overall.

The Babadook is still the best I've seen from this genre in the last 10 years or so.

Some would say the first true found footage horror movie was Cannibal Holocaust.
