"THE HULK" by Loeb and McGuinness

I laughed for a good 30 seconds when I saw McGuinness' cover for The Hulk #1. Seriously, that mother****er is absurdly huge.

Anyway, I can't say I'm looking forward to this series. Jeph Loeb was always a hit-or-miss writer for me, and now he's about 99% miss with a hit only once in a long while. I know I'm not excited for this series because the silhouette and the mystery surrounding who the red Hulk might be? Yeah, I don't give a crap. I'm totally indifferent. At this point, the only Hulk-related stuff I'm looking forward to are the Warbound mini for Korg and Hiroim and possibly Pak's next arc, since that should get back to a more Planet Hulkish feel now that he's done with his super-huge event.

What's up with Samson's short hair, by the way? Doesn't that mean he has no super-strength now?

samson powers stablized awhile ago, to a point where it doesn't matter how long his hair is. Hs had short hair before anyways.

I'm all over this.Should be a fun popcorn type action comic drawn by McG,it still blows my mind that he's been exclusive for almost a year and a half or 2 years and has only done covers,a one shot and a backup.

What's Ed's track record with monthlies anyways?

ShadowBoxing's speculation on Amadeus sounds like it just might be what ends up happening, though I imagine any truth to that speculation occuring in an incredibly hackneyed story twist.

Thinking about it, that's probably why they keep on asking people not to make assumptions about this just being a new incarnation. After Amadeus' self-claimed similarities to Big Green, he might as well do what a few Hulk fanatics wish they could do and literally become a Hulk-like being.

Actually Samson's power, much like for whom he is named, is somewhat contected to his hair's length. So, I'm not so big on this.

Well, for one, he certainly has the desire to be like the one he so admires. In addition he claims too that he "sees" math due to his insane intelligence, much like the Hulk and possibly Reed and Doom. However, I myself wonder if this won't be the twist of this new Hulk. 'Red Hulk', from the looks, is evil...or at least not nearly as "nice". It is quiet possible that in WWH, Bruce sees the error of his ways...and Amadeus, believing Iron Man and the Illumanti to be evil, turns himself into the Hulk to punish them. Perhaps this is how Banner will redeem himself, by protecting those he originally sought vengence on....just a thought.

Perhaps.... We're going to have to see how this one pans out. How long will it be an 'ongoing?'

It also starts off with Loeb's typical plot device, a la 'murder mystery theatre.'

At it's best this book will last a touch longer than the run of this story...

I hope it's great, but JQ is running the risk of his own opinions when Marvel 1stgot greedy and waaaaaay overstretched their titles. Some people aer definatley going to start dropping titles...

I am not so sure that it is Amadeus. And I do not buy that there are now 2 Hulks. This is not Superman blue and Superman red.

Lets not forget there is a Hulk movie by Marvel out next year and the Hulk will most probabl be alive and kicking then.

Who said anything about the Hulk dying? A red Hulk who's a separate person wouldn't impede on Marvel's ability to make a movie about the green Hulk who's Banner.

I'm hoping Banner's mind gets to control the Hulk's body in Pak's next arc, a la the Professor Hulk. I always loved seeing Banner in control of the Hulk's strength.

Well the merged Hulk was not the Professor. One retconned the other. the merged Hulk truly had all the power and intelligence but lasted one or two issues and then professor came out and he was shown to be quite a bit weaker.
