so you admit that the promotion is not good enough ?
How on Gods Green Earth did you get that from what they posted?
so you admit that the promotion is not good enough ?
Anyway, this world is so fascinating! I'm currently living in what would be District 12, so I can't help but root for Katniss and Peeta even more.
I love how Panem is like a futuristic Rome, but also like Knossos during the time of King Minos and the Labyrinth. It helps that when I read the books, I imagine it with the actors voice from the films.
Ok, fine. Now, tell me why the general public is so supposedly interested in this one film over any other in fandango history. What does this film have over all those others?
And now you're just speaking in hypotheticals. If there was no source material (three best-selling books), they might have a hard time selling it based on the trailers we've seen so far.
But that's not the case here, since there are three very popular, best-selling books, the property itself is able to use that to generate interest on top of the trailer. People are seeing the trailer, and while they maybe don't see as much as people who've read the books would like to see, at this point most know at least someone who've read the books and are recommending it based on that.
Point is, they don't have to rely solely on a trailer to sell this movie.
My position has always been that the content and footage within the trailers couldn't possibly sell this film to general audiences. You seem to agree, so where is the debate?
Ohh. I thought you were trying to argue that the film had pre-sold so much.
Honestly, I think it's combination. The trailers have been fine. And they do a good job of introducing the scenario. It's kids fighting to the death gladiator style.
I didn't need excessive amounts of bloody actions shots for the trailer for Gladiator to know there was going to be some. And really, the character relationships are what is most important in The Hunger Games anyways. Not the action.
Obviously the book fanbase is part of this. But the trailers had to have some effect, because pre-sales of this magnitude can't be from book fans alone. Unless almost every single book fine went out and bought some pre-sale tickets. Which I sincerely doubt. I think it's a combination of both.
you are talking about the twilight book and HG book. we are talking about the twilight movie and HG movie.I really hate how this is being compared to Twilight. Twilight is a misogynistic tale about a young girl that doesn't really know what she wants and is confused as all get out.
The Hunger Games is a tale of survival in multiple forms. Katniss has true tragedy in her life, but is still optimistic and fights for her life. Bella really has no tragedy in her life, and eventually gives up and tries to kill herself because this dude says he doesn't like her, even though she has someone there for her. The only similarity I see is that they're both classified as Young Adult novels.
I'm reading the first book right now for the first time, and it's so engaging. The last time I sat down and read a book like this was in 2007 with the first three A Song of Ice and Fire books. I got it on friday, and didn't read it much on saturday, but read it while on the bike at the gym yesterday and today, and I'm now sitting and reading it. I'm half way done with it.

Then that means anything less than 301mil domestically will make the movie a failure because that is what the biggest Twilight movie grossed. I mean honestly a more Diverse audience than Twilight didn't help all the over-hyped Marvel movies out gross Breaking Dawn: Part 1 last year. A diverse audience isn't enough people have to actually want to see a film in droves. And people might want to see HG in droves but a more diverse audience does not mean that it is going to out gross the Twilight films. I think it might have a shot at the first movie but the second and 3rd films are going to be super tough to beat. While it may not be more popular than Twilight it has a way more diverse audience which I think will help it in the long run
If the character relationships are so important to the trailer, then why not emphasize that? All we see is Katniss sharing an extremely brief conversation with Peeta and nothing more. I see no relationship there.

what do you mean back to back?
Meaning I won't want to wait too long to see the next one. I can barely wait to leave work today so I can start the second book on the train home.what do you mean back to back?
