The Hunt - Universal/Blumhouse/Lindelof Team-Up For Political Thriller

Terrible. Why cancel it? Why not just delay it??

Dude, there's an honest reason why The Hunt got pulled. It's about innocent people being kidnapped and hunted for sport by rich *******s. Given what's been happening lately, it would've hit too close to home. It's not like The Interview where that movie was more of a bonkers satirical comedy.

Again: why not just delay it? To like Feb or something?

What sucks is that even if they delay it, who's to say another mass shooting won't coincidentally happen around the new release date?

You mean like what happened with the new Death Proof?

I don't know what happened with that.

I'm just saying, I can see how the execs are now all "Eh..." about releasing it.

I remember Death Proof got pushed back because of a mass shooting, then another what happened around the same time as the new release date.

I saw the trailer before Crawl and honestly The Hunt just looked weird.

You really can't avoid it at this point. I know the cast and crew are probably pissed but have to be like, "it's in the best interest of everyone."

Don't you mean Death Wish? Death Proof was one-half of Grindhouse.

Because Trump and Fox have latched onto it in order to "both sides" the argument that Trump's rhetoric was a factor in El Paso. Universal is scared that the megaphone of those is going to kill what little business this movie could have done.

Maybe they'll change their mind and just simply push it back to a later date so they can actually make some kind of money off of this. Maybe around some political event or holiday to have some kind of commentary on how the upper class does whatever they want with the lower ones at times.

Yep, haha, my bad. The one with Bruce Willis that came out not to long ago
Yeah, THAT piece of ****. Willis is a good actor (when he's not phoning it in, of course), but he's sure as hell NOT Paul Kersey. That honor goes to Charles Bronson and ONLY Charles Bronson.

Just had Death Proof on my mind

Why does no one listen that movies and games aren’t the deciding factor in these acts of violence? As a horror fan, kind of scary that I feel like our genre could disappear completely because people are too scared to show violence in the media anymore.

Comedians have been talking about this sort of thing for a few years now. Not very surprising that it is just spreading wider.

Dumbasses. This shallow PR stunt in no way helps the victims or the situation. The release in September also would not have effected the victims because I seriously doubt they care at all about a film that was supposed to come out in September. Even if they did care, no one was forcing them to watch it.

Is Universal going to pull all their action films off store shelves? Are they gonna pull Hobbs and Shaw from theaters?

No. The victims arent being forced to watch it. No one is being forced to watch it. The film isnt about public mass shootings. And because there are literally mass shootings in this country every ****ing week when should they release it? Never? We gonna destroy and stop making films that show lots of bad guys getting shot? Is bad guys shooting the protagonists a big no no now?

What about slasher films? We gonna stop making those every time a serial killer is discovered in this country? There are a lot of serial killers in the country. A lot of people have been hurt by them. Better not upset them with fictional media.

Oh and there are 6 million people killed each year by vehicles. 37,000+ in the US. About 90 every day. So I guess we should stop releasing films involving vehicular violence. Bye bye Fast and Furious franchise.

Considering it is the US, it is a certainty it would happen again.

Eh, I'm more bummed about Betty Gilpin having her first lead in a film cancelled, she is rumored to be really good and badass in this. I also have a thing for her so...
