Congratulations to everyone who won. I know I'm not part of WoH anymore, but I read that Hal post when it was nominated, and you knocked it right out of the emotional park.

And to my UDC chaps, that montage was a helluva read. I've even gone and reread it a few times since it was nominated (on top of the multiple time I read it when it was first posted). Again, congratulations all around!

Best Fight

While individual posts are like gems that can be crafted, shaped, and polished to shine. Some of the best posts are the back and forth, knock down and drag out slobber-knockers. You can't have an RPG with superheroes without fighting. Here at the nominees for this year's best fight:

A big thanks to all who voted for us. I won't say too much because it was mostly due to Spike's season long build-up that made it what it was, but I seriously loved facing off against an enemy so perfectly matched to Batman's capabilities. We have an even bigger fight planned, but it'll be hard for us to duplicate the excitement of the first confrontation, so I'm sure I can speak for Spike in saying that we're glad you guys enjoyed it as much as we did.

It was easily the most fun I've had in a fight scene since I tore apart the landscape as the Parasite fighting Superman, and believe me, that's saying a lot for me. I'm really glad everyone seemed to enjoy Bane and Bats bloodying each other up.

Best Team-Up

Posts are our bread and butter, but it's interactions that turn the RPGs from a glorified fanfic to an actual game. Nothing beats a good back and forth with another RPer. You're both in the zone and you're both cranking it out and feeling it.

Congratulations on co-winning Best Post, Keyser. Poor Hal's earned that award as far as I'm concerned. The UDC montage was another excellent set of posts, as everyone brought their A-Game and ended the first season of one of my all-time favorite RPGs with a bang.

Also big thumbs-up for Spike and MB, and everyone involved in the big Darkseid fight, especially Watchman for making it happen. Both fights were all kinds of kick-ass, on two entirely separate scales.

And thank you guys for co-voting me and Byrd for Best Team-Up (a lot of that credit should go to Byrd for Flash's hilarious reactions to Wondy). Flash and Wondy could honestly be the Abbott and Costello of the UDC universe if we keep that sort of 'the clown and the straight-man' dynamic up. Congrats to EBJ and Wieg for co-winning the same award along with us--I unfortunately haven't read OU in a good long while, but post posters are awesome, so I'm sure their team-up is doubly awesome.

One my biggest gripes when it comes to RPGs are people I've dubbed "windrunners." They move from character to character, dropping them left and right after a post or two. I'm guilty of that, as we all are. But this award if for those people who pick up a character, roll their sleeves up, and put in the work to make their character great.

....wow, I was honestly not expecting that.

Thank you guys so much for the award. Writing All-Star Spider-Man has become equal parts favorite hobby, labor of love, and near-psychotic obsession, so to see it both recognized and awarded among some of the best portrayals that all of the RPGs have to offer is incredibly rewarding. Now I have that much more pressure to deliver with him, since now I know there are people actually reading it.

Best Solo Story Arc

For alot of us, this is the ultimate goal. To be able to put ourselves in front and center with our creativity and, simply put, work our asses off to produce the best possible story that we can tell. It's true that we all strive for entertaining interaction, given that we'd be writing self indulgent fan-fiction without it, but there's something to be said about a player that can take an often touted character and develop them to new heights with the hard work and dedication that these nominees have brought to the table. A well driven solo story arc can make a hero their most heroic, a villain their most villainous, and a walk-the-liner their most... well, you get the idea.
