The "I am SO SICK of all this talk about recasts/reboots/revamps/re-whatever!" thread

I'm basically making a sweeping indictment because it's being done too much. Do i think Superman could benefit from a reboot? Yes. do I think that's the route Singer should have gone? More or less. But I just want a break from the method altogether.

That's just throwing the baby out with the bath water though.

Saying there should be no more Superman movies just because you don't like reboots, is just silly.

fans waited decades to see;

lex luther AGAIN

I'm not saying "no more"; I'm saying wait until the reboot hysteria dies down.
I'm just sick of it being the catch-all answer in fans' (and now studios) minds every time something goes wrong. Especially in Spider-Man's case. This is what I always feared would happen. That some studio would jump on trhe bandwagon as soon as everyone's contracts were up, despite the success of the previous films, even promising to continue the previous series before deciding to do so. And rebooting's not always a good thing, either-lest we forget:

Especially when it's something he shouldn't even be ABLE to lift.

Yeah and Crisis on Infinite Earths was an example of a successful reboot, so what's your point?

And how long do I have wait for a new Superman movie, because I don't I want to wait 20 years for a new Superman, I don't want wait till I'm in my 40s for one.

COIE was a sucessful story but lDC has been rebooting themselves ever since.

One More Day is an example of a bad reboot

I seem to remember a Hulk "Chapter One" reboot that was so poorly received they just buried it.

I don't get DC's fixation with reboots either. It makes it harder for me to get into the stories when the entire universe(s) have been flipped on its head many times.

Yeah, I thought Crisis on Infinite Earths was a great idea but they've overdone it so many times that I really don't care about any of the Crisis-related stuff anymore.

What exactly are the differences between the Pre-Crisis DCU & the Post-Crisis DCU? Other than, I'm assuming, Batman never went camp.

You know what's funny, once this thread reaches a certain amount of posts... :awesome:

DON'T. Somebody already joked about that a few pages ago. Even suggested that I should be recast.

:csad:

Dammit.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Superman's power levels were lowered or more balanced out from Pre to Post-Crisis.

They removed a lot of the camp and cheesy silver age stuff and changed the origins and powers of the characters. For example, in pre-crisis Alfred joined with Batman after Robin did and was just a goofy side character. He even died and became a supervillain at one point. Post-Crisis he became a surrogate father to Batman as we all know him now. The Pre-Crisis death of Bruce's parents was actually an assassination and Joe Chill was actually a hit man. There was even a cheesy bit in there about how Bruce's dad actually wore a Batman-like costume first and beat up Joe Chill's boss while wearing it. Now it is more as we know it now with Joe Chill as a random mugger. To list everything would take forever but to put it simply COIE took DC material and made it as we know it today.

I can't seem to go to any general board without seeing a dozen reboot threads. It's a damn epidemic!

Denzel Washington can play me in the thread reboot

If Denzel plays you, then Jamie Foxx could play me, and Wesley Snipes could play Chris. Forest Whitaker could play someone who thinks they're ugly.

I heard that there was once a Pre-Crisis story in which Batman confronted Chill but couldn't really do anything b/c he had no evidence. Chill later bragged in a bar about how he'd gotten over on "The Bat", & the other criminals, realizing that by killing his parents Chill was responsible for Batman's creation, iced him.
