I don't understand why Cap is called "The First Avenger" since Thor is FAR older than him and he was a member before Captain America.

I guess Hulk could be called "The Incredible Avenger"

Presumably Cap will be the first one with something to avenge.

I'm sure most have now seen Mark Ruffalo's comments that the Hulk "looks just like him". With that being said, does anyone here think that means the Hulk's hair will be like Ruffalo's? Just trying to figure out if that eliminates the chance of a "high and tight" hair cut Hulk.

I'm just trying to figure out how he figures he's the first one to motion capture the Hulk when Ang Lee did it in 03.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure that out too....the only thing I can think of is that he's going to be doing scenes inside the Performance Capture suit ala Avatar with the others actors for the entire shoot. While Norton and Ang Lee did parts of that, I don't recall if either of them did it for the entire movie as if they acted the entire CG character's performance. I'm not sure...

For Ang Lee's Hulk, Ang did the motion capture but only for body movements and I think the facial capture was key animated by ILM after using some reference footage from Bana.

For TIH, Norton had all his facial features/expression captured by one technology and then the body movements were captured using motion capture technology. He never really gave a full performance as Hulk due to the technology used and a body movement coach was also used to do the motion capture for Hulk.

Now from what Ruffalo has said, it seems that the same performance capture tech developed for Avatar will be used in The Avengers. This means that Ruffalo can give a full performance as Hulk as his facial and body movements will be captured at the same time; his entire performance will be captured not just certain body movements.

So in a way, he is going to be the first actor to do full performance capture as Hulk.

They could be using some of the newer technologies used for facial and body capture. The newest tech out there blows away both Hulk films because it captures every little movement in the actors face and body.

I hope The Hulks entrance is kind of like (and dont bash me too hard) in Extroadinary Gentlemen when they chase after Jackal and Hide bouncing from rooftop to rooftop and kind of capture him somehow and convince Banner (after hes calmed down however that would be) to join The Avengers.

In there they can have Cap Thor and IM fighting Hulk to try and obtain him to sedate him somehow to bring him to SHIELD to talk.

This cant happen agai! they made that mistake with Hulk and made Eric Bana's face come through FAR to much. Hulk is not Banner, Hulk is Hulk (as he always says himself). In incredible hulk they nailed the hulk's face, making him a seperate entity from Banner, as he should be. The Hulk must not look like Ruffalo, 'nuff said.

I honestly think it doesn't matter. I didn't think either of the previous Hulks looked anything like their respective Banners. People claim they did but I know I never saw any similarities.

Unless you're doing the Professor, Hulk's face should look brutish & a bit scary. THAT(or rather the lack of it) was what I didn't like about AngHulk's face. TIH's was much better. Given that both used the face of the actor playing Banner, I doubt Whedon's gonna allow a return to baby-face Hulk even with using Ruffalo's face as a basis.

The similarities between Norton and Hulk from TIH were the shape of the nose, jaw, a scar and a small mole.

And I think for Bana and Hulk, it was the jaw.

I think the design from TIH was near perfect. Maybe Ruffalo was just trying to be humorous, but I still think they should stick with the design from TIH with a few tweaks.

BTW, I hope they still follow through with a sequel after the Avengers. Also, is General Ross supposed to show up in this?

If Ruffalo is doing motion capture for body and minute facial movements, I would assume he will provide the voice as well.

Yeah, based on Ruffalo's description he'll probably be on set with the rest of the actors in a mo-cap suit. As will RDJ based on how they filmed IM2.

In incredible Hulk, Hulk looked like a monster. i could not Honestly see Norton in his face at all. As fo Eric Bana, his face was all over Hulk. Yeah it was modified, but it was clearly bana's face. Although having said that, in Hulk they could not keep any part of the CG model consistant. Cant wait to see hulk in the avengers though.

I've always had a problem with this stance. In comics, the artists have interpreted the Hulk pretty much anyway imaginable. But to me, there's still a balance that should be struck. The great Sal Buscema managed to make the Hulk a bestial, gorilla-like monstrosity (which is how he should appear) but at the same time kept a slight resemblance to Banner. It's not as if the Hulk has a whole different skeleton & skull structure that just emerges from nowhere, it is still very much Banner, and I think in live action it helps with the realism.

By far, Ang's Hulk was better integrated into his environment than the last movie. Overall, TIH had a better color, and for some people, a better design, but clearly, Ang's Hulk looked to be in the scene, and emotionally, looked more realistic. I think a lot of that has to do with his resemblance to Bana. On top of that, TIH face was much more human looking than Ang's Hulk was anyway, TIH version was just far more angry and snarling all the time. Anytime he's calm, like when he's in the cave with Betty, he looks like a regular human much more than the previous incarnation.

The issue with the '03 film was inconsistency. There were shots were he looked terrible, then there's shots like when he turns to see Betty coming down the steps after his San Francisco rampage, where it was complete perfection. Yes, make the Hulk look like the animal he is, but leave a hint of Ruffalo in there. It won't do anything but help IMO
