The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

Man, what about that 20 minutes Harry-s amnesia... came suddenly for no reason and gone suddenly for no reason. And nothing changed, except Harry forgot everything for 20 minutes. And then, he suddenly remembered everything again, taking us to the original situation all over again... and nothing happened out of that. Oh he danced the twist with MJ! How lucky we were he had that amnesia so he could dance the twist with MJ!

And then... Bernard's confession... ???... out of the blue.
lol yea the amnesia angle was ****iffic lol.....the storyline sucked!!! plain and simple, i dont care that it didnt follow the comic to a T, i'm mad that what they ended up doing just didnt work.......it was a unintentional comedy, Tobey cried soooo much in this film with his fugly expressions!! argggghhhhhhh!!!! oh and Sandman's ummm explanation of why he blew away Uncle Ben....oh it was an ACCIDENT? wow, way to ruin that one Raimi

"I am the new Sheriff in these parts" just did me in.... right then and there I realized Tobey will never be good at comedy... so get rid of him... and Raimi as well... heck Dunsts was probably the best... thats really saying something

I personally loved the movie and will see it again. Now, with that said, I totally understand what you "haters" mean. 3 is NO WHERE as near as good as 1 or 2. In my book, rating wise, it goes 2-1-3. My disappointments were the extremely cheesy one liners. Not that they're bad, just that there was WAY to many of em. I thought there'd be a lot more action in it as well. Like, the construction site battle. I thought that would have been like a half an hour long...to name a few.

yea Tobey's reign is over, i hope.....and why is Peter still being bullied in COLLEGE??? didnt he grow a sack after high school and umm getting powers? i thought Flash was taught a lesson in part 1, in part 2 he didnt get picked on, why now Raimi....why is Peter still a loser and horrible in relationships, i use to WANT Peter and Mary Jane to be together but watchin this, they both losers!!!

That "Sheriff" line done me too. The film was so incoherent it doesn't connect at all with the brilliance of the previous two. It really falls completely flat like everyone was going threw the motions.

I had to stick around for the credits to see if Brett Ratner was involved lol

Are you in highschool??? And are you honestly hear on the boards telling me about being in highschool?

Obviously Sandman wasn't as sympathetic has he could have been, but I am sure your 800 person class didn't want to sit through the non-Venom filled non-action scenes where he goes to a doctor seeking help, etc. since it well wasn't filled with Venom in every moment. Raimi's cut was 156 minutes approx. and what we got was about 139ish.... (since I am too lazy to look it up). Lots of little things were trimmed but it's clear whole sections of Sandman were cut.

As far chessiness is concerned, did you see the other two films... Rain drops keep falling on my head montage scene for example... there she is mary jane, oh boy... that's part of what makes these films as memorable as they are. There is a certain level of humor and a certain level of action, drama and character development that must be balance.

In this film the character development was summed up too quickly for Sandman, who lost most of his scenes at the request of Sony to beef the film but, but they'll surfice again. None of this is groudns to hate the film though.

Yes, I am in high school, why would I make that up? And secondly, I am not telling you about high school, I'm merely telling you that the general audience (much like the kids at my high school) did not love the film as much as the person I directed my comment to had said.

And actually, yes, Troma, the kids that I saw the film with wanted to see more development because they're main problem was that everything was "just thrown together and rushed". I'm not concerned about Raimi's cut, I'm talking about the cut that made into theaters. The one that millions will be going to see. That is the version that counts. Not the one that is sitting on some shelf at Columbia Studios.

I have seen both of this film's predecessors and I enjoyed both of them much more than I did this. And while both had Raimi's famous touch of humor, this film went overload. In Spider-Man 2, I enjoyed the scene with Peter walking down the streets to the music. But in Spider-Man 3, the scene just came off dumb and unrelated to the story. Same thing goes with all of the other supposedly funny Emo Parker moments.

My comment wasn't directed towards you, nor do I appreciate this lashing out at me. In the future, I'd hope that you would not start fights with people who are unaware of your presence. Thanks!

Well there should have been more turmoil in the MJ/Peter thingy... thought they did a decent job with that... they got that right people... Parker/MJ always had problems... they got Parkers personality post-infection right minus the emo hair... they got Harry right except for the weak ending... (He should have came out of nowhere to save Pete when no one was expecting anything... everyone saw it coming... Peter asking Harry to help him was a huge mistake... and Sandman being Godzilla and rushing Venom was bad but they just didn't have enough screen time for the two of them in one movie)... they got Brock right too... yeah he was cheezy but he was still Brock... power hungry egotistical revenge seeking Eddie... Topher did a good job... the elements were all there... the execution was bad... Sandman was atrocious... Venom being rushed... incoherent story.... campy dialougue... its all nit picking... this was still a GOOD movie people... but SM1 and SM2 blow it out the water

Raimi was god until this film. I guarantee Nolan will screw up too.
I wonder if Raimi wouldn't have screwed if he would have the free hands to make the film he wanted. Aka no Venom/Arad.

Sorry bad writing. I meant: I wonder if SM3 would have been GOOD/GREAT if Arad had let Raimi do it his way.

I didnt hate it but was majorly dissapointed!!!

There were some really good bits, mainly the breakdown of peter and mjs relationship and some of the cgi was awesome (sandmans birth) but some was really ropey!!

I always thought 3 vilains was way too many and was proven right!! You just cant introduce a villain as important as sandman and make him kill uncle ben and then only give him as much screen time as he had!!!
And did anyone else think the fight scenes were well below par....the best one was was harry and peter aerial battle, all the sandman fights were way WAY too short and the final battle with giant sandman looked like a video game!!!

Another example of studios forcing issues upon the film and director and ruining everything!! Did x3 teach hollywood nothing?!?!

There's so big list of those kinda films. They will never learn.

You people have the stupidest reasons for disliking the movie.

"Nothing came out of Harry's memory impairment except doing the twist with MJ."

You guys are all ****ing high.

Wow. I wanted to love this but cannot...

This movie was like a sitcom reunion where the cast reprises their roles after years, but only come of as shadows of their former self... Mockeries...

The comic book franchises are learning the hard way what a slippery slope utilizing too many characters in one movie is.

We did not need Venom. Who the **** was Venom in this?

Venom was forced on Ramai ha needed his own movie later on with a different director. The whole Venom story occured during a different era in Spidey as it is. Shouldve been Lizard and maybe Sandman or Vulture.

The rock falling from the sky..?

Venom knew how to use his powers in 5 seconds?

The scene where Venom finds Sandman and somehow knows Sandmans whole deal and relationship with Spiderman even though he had never even met him?
That was the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. That 30 seconds proved to me what a joke the whole idea of Venom even being in this movie was.

The hero losing his innocense... It dont work... Not in Superman and not in Spiderman. Its a fun concept hypothetically, but in the end it taints everything.

They didnt even try to utilize the JJ son and MJ issue. It was just ignored... Coudve been great. I wonder if the cast and filmakers realize all these things...

Characters fighting side by side and with fantastic chemistry even though its he first time theyve ever worked together?

Too many coincidences and too many "matter of facts" I couldnt suspend my disbelief the way this movie demanded....

Effects were amazing. Awesome! Some of the best ever. Too bad none of that mattered because the meaning behind it all was tarnished beyond repair.
I dont care how cool something looks if I dont care about the characters and the motivation behind whats happening it might as well not occur...

There are other things.... Tons.. But I just got home from the movie and I think Ive gotten out enough for now...

Peace
Konee

You're and idiot and don't know the first thing about Venom, and thats why you automatically hate him. I can explain everthing you stated was wrong with the character in this movie but won't cause it would take hours for your tiny jaded mind to process. F the Venom hating members of this bored!

I didn't hate the movie... I liked it... But I can't help but feel.... sad.

I should be excited, elated, overjoyed.

But all I feel right now is utter disappointment. Like it's the end of an era. I can't help but feel this way.

Why oh why do I always fall for overhype?

Just an FYI: I was a big fan of the Matrix Trilogy... I didn't feel this bad when Revolutions came out, and it got worse reviews.

I know it's a comic book movie and stuff, but I just had to laugh when I thought about Sandman's origin. Marko just gets into this high-security test place, and falls in this pit where they're doing particle tests. I thought it was pretty funny because

  • They should have had security cameras and saw what was happening in the first place, especially if this equipment is so high-tech and secretive and stuff
  • One scientist said the mass changed, but it was probably a bird and would fly away or something. Hmm...I don't know of any birds that would make the weight change something for the scientists to really notice. A 225-250 lb. man on the other hand...
  • And finally...they're doing this particle experiment...even if they didn't have security cameras, don't you think they would have cameras around the particle accelerator so they could actually SEE what they were doing in their experiment!?

pretty much spot on.... the DOC OCK scenes in part two TRUMP these fight scenes hands down... this movie is predictable .. sometimes corny and all around disappointing.. too forced too rushed ... to MEH:csad:

i hated the all movie except the finish when haeey dies! that really makes me cry

I think that is the problem with a lot of the people on these boards...they went into this film so over-hyped, that it just didn't live up to it at all. I truly think that the only people who will like SM3 are the people who haven't been following the progress of the film for three years.

And there is no need to bash people who didn't like the movie, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Telling disappointed fans to f**k off won't make this movie better or worse

I don't hate it, I don't love it, truth be told I wasn't disappointed (as disappointment hints to having higher expectations). I was flat out just unimpressed with the movie. I'll keep this short here as I got suckered into writing longer posts on other forums. The story was rush, there were too many characters and certain villains were made sympathetic way too early to build proper tension.

I've said my peace.

Just an interesting observation, and I haven't even watched it yet. I find it very interesting that most the people saying they flat out hated it have very low post counts. :cwink:

Spidey-woman, you just insulted the people that didn't like the movie. I agree that everyone has their own opinion, but if you haven't followed the movie for three years, you can still be disappointed. Movies can be bad for a lot of reasons. Raimi isn't infaliable.

I'm almost at 10,000. El Payaso's pretty high too. Both of us got our high post counts through trolling though. I trolled the crap out of fantastic four when that came out.

It was the same as this...

"IT'S ENTERTAINING THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS..."

"WELL I LIKED IT ANYWAY."

"WHO CARES WHAT CRITICS THINK"

Wash rinse repeat.

Spidey 3 will fall into the same bargain bin with that movie.

Even though I haven’t seen it yet!
All of your negative responses prove to me that once again Spiderman 3 must be a very good entertaining movie
So all of you pimple face baboon can go and take a hike until I have my say in this!

The movie never makes it clear that the suit transfers all its knowledge.... No way... I think Brett Ratner directed this........

And with the butler? And his speech? Why not tell harry that **** a year ago if he knew how his dad really died?

So, so bad....

Oh man.......

How can that not be clear that Brock retained Peters mermories and powers throught the symbiote. I mean there was alot that showed it, when he called peter "tiger" when Flint engages with Brock, Brock lets him know about spiderman. Hell he knew who MJ was when he kidnapped her. So umm I would have to say that, he knows everything about Parker.

I notices that earlier also SP. I think Fox Movie registered all their EXECs on the SHH boards this morning.
