The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

i think as fans we expect so much we were bound to be a little disappointed

Thank you!

With all the money, time and creative liberties, there are NO EXCUSES that this film should have knocked our socks off.

I wasnt really in to the last 2 flims is this one worth seeing or should i wait for the dvd or rental?

Did Not hate it. But the movie was utterly dissapointing. I really believed the movie was moving pretty well, from opening credits to the creation of Sandman.

AFter that, toooo MUCH peter Parker and Mary Jane. Venom didnt even get a Name! Too many corny lines. Batman Begins has set a standard for Me as far as comic book movies goes. This one didnt quite live up to expectations. Even the crane scene looked fake when it hit the building. that CGI of the building was bad. I havent read through the thread, so sorry for any of the same complaints.

Fight scenes were ok. Peter VS Harry 2 was the best IMO. The rescue of Gwen was probally the best shot.

But NOT enough black spidey, Venom or Sandman.

People have VARIED opinions. Most here would say Spidey 3 was terrible but again some liked it.

I think this film is something you should experience for yourself.

There are 181 posts currently here already and 31 in the "I loved SM3" thread.

That speaks for itself at the moment, and me for that matter.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch Begins to get the taste out of my mouth.

My list of grievances:
1. Too many plotlines
2. Not enough Eddie/Venom (then again, I'm pretty biased, as I flove Topher Grace)
3. Venom costume itself-I just wasn't impressed with it
4. Peter crying at the breakup
5. At the end, where Peter an MJ are looking at each other after the big Venom/Sandman battle is over, it's blatantly obvious that the sunrise was green screen. I may be wrong, but up until that moment it has always seemed that the Spiderman movies have done really well in making everything look as realistic as possible.
6. The numerous flashback scenes

James Franco's performance was amazing, though. He did an awesome job of going from angsty to care free and back again. And on a random note, did Peter's hairstyle remind anyone else of Peter Petrelli?

I'm getting really SICK of you BATMAN Fans coming over to the Spidey Forums and sticking your dirty daggers in our ribs. WE ADMIT IT SPIDEY 3 is CRAP! :cmad:

There is NO NEED for you to get ARROGANT and kick us while we're down. It's NOT RIGHT and really ****ty thing to do. :cmad:

WHEN NOLAN IS LEAVING BATMAN I'll make sure to open a bottle of CHAMPAGNE to celebrate :cwink:

It was totally disappointing.

You think with the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS would have made a better movie.

They tried to add too much, and kept in too many useless scenes.

Having one scene of comic relief (rain drops scene) in Spidey 2 was good. Having what seemed like 12 was way too much.

I didn't hate it, but I wasn't impressed.

you see this is why i didn't get all excited for this movie. you want to know how half assed I was about getting ready for spider-man 3 I was. I forgot that this was opening weekend. I looked at the board at my local theater and saw "opening this week spider-man 3" and I thought "what? already? oh, i guess I'll go see it." Rami ****ed up 2 and i have not really been that pumped to see 3, but i guess I will, its not like i have anything better to do tonight.
whatever.

iawtc except i wont see it

I think no matter what you guys will be upset and complain. The movie was great in my opinion. It could have been better. The Godfather and Batman Begins could have been better too, but there's a point where you have to let it go and just enjoy it for what it is. If you do that, you have to love this movie. It was fantastic.

There are more posts in here because people love to piss and moan and argue with each other. The "i love" anything threads are always less popular than the "i hate" threads. Nobody finds standing around agreeing with everybody interesting. People want to complain and argue, so they come here.

I respect Sam Raimi so much for what he's done. He took a character he actually hated, not just didn't know, and did him justice because he understood the fans loved him. That's integrity and respect for the material. Venom made sense in the movie because Peter had to end up defeating his own monster, personified by Brock. Everything snowballed because he was irresponsible and he learned to forgive, to ask for help, and that not everything is black and white. It worked.

I went to the bathroom after the movie and heard people going "I don't care about Sandman's family, I just want to see things blowing up." I think that about sums up the casual moviegoer's stance on films with actual character development.

I'm a big a fan of BB and you are right, there is no reason to rub salt in the wounds. A note for all the Nolan Batman fans who are doing this: How are you gonna feel when Nolan decides to leave after TDK(and I really believe there is a good chance of that) and David Goyer is asked to step in and direct the third one? Just think about that. Let these Spidey fans mourn in peace.

Thanks alot for not being offended. I'm just a little pissy about the whole Spidey3 situation and felt like we Spidey fans were being taunted. Hopefully it will stop. :(

I still wish you guys luck on keeping Nolan for the Batman Franchise. I mean that in sincerity.

:)

This movie's as bad as Captain America. It's captain America on steroids.

I'm a fan of pretty much all superhero franchises and want to see them get the best treatment possible. Hopefully brighter days are ahead for Spidey.

Here are my reasons:

-Harry's temporary amnesia (the most contrived plot device ever)
-Marko running into a particle physics experiment and the scientists commenting "it's just a bird".
-The experiment turning everything into sand except for the locket with his daughter's picture. Why did that not turn to sand either?
-Sandman getting washed away and dissolved in the water and then reconstituting himself and conveniently finding the locket.
-The asteroid crashing to earth right by Peter and MJ with out them noticing it and the black goo randomly sticking onto Pete's moped.
-The absolutely underdeveloped motivation of Sandman robbing banks to help his daughter.
-Harry and MJ doing the Twist. Did this take place in 1955?
-MJ singing
-Peter strutting, pointing at girls, doing pelvic thrusts etc.
-Peter's emo hair style showing that he's now turning evil.
-Peter going on the the date with Gwen and then randomly dancing (I thought he might whip out his flute and start jamming like he's Ron Burgundy from Anchorman) and playing the piano to make MJ jealous.
-The pointlessness of Gwen and her police commissioner father.
-Spider-Man encouraging Gwen to kiss him when he knows that MJ is right there watching.
-Eddie Brock praying for Jesus to kill Peter Parker for getting him fired for his forgeries and going on a date with Gwen
-Peter having such a hard time ripping the black suit off in the church when he had no problem taking it off before.
-Eddie Brock not only being at the same church, but being able to recognize that it was peter from so far away and the black goo conveniently falling on him.
-Eddie getting fangs when Peter did not.
-All of Venom's lines had to be delivered by showing Eddie's face
-Venom and Sandman teaming up was to forced and weird.
-Harry's random butler conveniently waiting til now to tell Harry the truth.
-Harry and Spider-Man teaming up, too predictable.
-Goblin's lame flying snow board.
-Goblin's bombs completely destroying Venom, but only scarring Harry's face.
-Spider-Man forgiving Sandman and Sandman blowing off into the sunset.
-Goblin stepping in front of Spider-man to save him at he last minute.
-Venom's weakness being sound waves from the pipes.
-The British reporter.

Nolan Please... Break This ****ing Curse.... I Beg You.... In Nolan We ****ing Trust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same what I think. I didn't hate Spidey 3, but as many say it was one of the biggest disappointments of this year so far! Anyway, I hope Nolan's Batman and Iron man will fix everything :)

Don't even JOKE about that Flawless. I like Goyer as a writer but...I saw Blade Trinity.

Otherwise, agreed. Let's not keep dragging BB into this. It's completely irrelevent
