Just learned right now that Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles had a tv adaptation back in the 1970s. The character designs look a bit freaky.

Just learned right now that Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles had a tv adaptation back in the 1970s. The character designs look a bit freaky.

It's not for everyone. Bradbury is always hard to translate to the screen....it's even harder when the special effects are terrible. It has mostly decent acting, and the set designs and Martian interpretations are interesting. But it always comes back to the space ships....This miniseries was made in 1980...this was after STAR WARS....but the FX looked like Buster Crabbe's FLASH GORDON serial from the '30s.

Like @C. Lee said, it had decent acting, IIRC it had Rock Hudson in a major role and a number of other well known names.
The special effects were not great, but the story was fairly faithful to the original book. I recall enjoying it overall.
However, I am going from very old memories here...
