So I got a call from HQ today asking me to leave next Saturday for two weeks to train a store but didn’t say where. It’d be either Oklahoma City or San Antonio.
I was torn because I’ve never really travelled and SA would be totally cool to see, but if I were to, I’d be putting myself at risk, and possibly one having one day off a week, if that. And since I’d be flying back on a Saturday and have to work Sunday, I’d be working a 10 day stint in a row at some point anyways.
The guy who called was my team lead last year and is in charge of the whole training deployment and I’m one of the top ones he wants to send out. But my store is down 21 people and I don’t want to put them or myself at risk, or deal with the animosity I’d have heading out. I wouldn’t blame my coworkers from being wary of me after all that. Not to mention I’d also be teleworking my store and doing my work there too because we don’t have enough people to cover it.
And if I were to go, who knows what the store is like walking into it and how many have it or have had covid or how cautious they’re being. And I don’t want to travel that far to work probably 9 to 12 hours a day and pretty much be stuck in a hotel otherwise.
So I declined and by doing it, I will now have to travel for one week in November to New Mexico, and possibly a week in California in December. So I need covid to get its act together because before this, I was scheduled on the team for Pearl Harbor, which is our top 1 or 2 (depending on the week) store globally. And I very much want a all paid work trip there
