Well, as is the thing with collectibles, they tend to fluctuate. I always keep in mind to buy collectibles because I enjoy them, not as a get rich quick scheme. LOL

Same here. I never sell the stuff anyway so I'd rather things didn't go up in value and remained reasonably priced to buy.

How is it I can spend $73 at the grocery store yet feel I didn't get that much?

Remember the 90's comics.

"First issue gold foil premium shrink wrapped collectors edition with bonus trading card!"

3 months later

''10 FOR $1 SALE! All First issues in the bin''

So my Cyberforce comics won't pay for my retirement? :(

This reminds me of when I tried to pay for something in 1st edition Charizards.

Samsung has excellent screens, but so does VIZIO. I wouldn't go with a Samsung Smart TV because the company admitted that it records you all the time.

the samsungs had the lower reviews of all the ones on the list so i was looking with for a reason

they record you? where did they say that? not cool

^ thanks
wasn't as bad as i thought it'd be but still not too keen on the idea

I have a Vizio myself and I'm very happy with it but Samsung is known for making some of the best TVs out there. Honestly at this point if you just getting a regular HDTV you won't notice much of a difference with any brand you go with, now if you were planning on dropping the dough for an UHDTV it would be a different story

i don't need a UHDtv, would consider a 4k, but i'm not trying to spend all my money unless i can find a really good deal

and depending on the HZ etc, you can notice a difference. i want at least 120hz
leaning towards a LED this time, not fond of plasma

i had made a thread about it
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=496741

i'm leaning towards getting it at Best Buy or Amazon as i'm trying to pay as little out of pocket as possible and as much with rewards and Gift Cards as possible. i'm up to about $40 in AMZ GC's, and about $90-100 with Best Buy.
if anyone wants to learn the ways of my gift card kung fu, i'd be glad to share

Clever girl. Not many focus on the hz and only focus on the resolution.

I'm waiting for HDR (high dynamic range) to take off on TVs. Will probably get one this time next year.

I'm in the market for a new tv. keep in mind i'm fairly tech blonde. i currently have a 50" phillips DLP (can find the model later if needed) that i've had for about 8 years now. i've only ever had to replace the bulb once but i feel as though i might have to replace it soon. the picture is getting kinda dark.

i really want to upgrade to something in the 55-60" range, 65" if i can find a really really good deal. at the same time, i'm really not trying to pay more than a $1000 for one.

these are some of the ones i'm looking at, so any insight is much appreciated, even if it is to recommend another one entirely:

I think a good question to ask yourself is whether or not you want a model that big for yourself. It seems like this would be something sitting up in your room rather than a living room. How big is your tv now? A 50-60 inch could be pretty huge for a bedroom, so you might want to get something smaller unless you plan on moving with this where you can put it in a living room and enjoy to yourself. You don't want something too big and bright unless that's what you already have. If you do that would explain a lot...

In terms of the models you listed Vizio is probably a good bet for you. They all are good, but Vizios are usually on the cheaper side in terms of pricing. They aren't made cheap, but they are priced affordably so that you don't have to break the bank to have good quality. You can get one that will last you a good long while.

But I don't know why you are up in here getting advice when you are supposed to be watching Bates Motel and loving it like I am. Don't be a bad friend, CC. Be a good person.

So Calvin Harris poses in just underwear and now he's the hottest DJ on the planet. He's cute, but I don't know...

Deej does the same and no one is claiming him to be the best DJ on the planet.

The refresh rate (or hertz) really isn't as important as you think unless you are doing gaming CC. There are plenty of TVs that have nice deep rich colors with lower refresh rate and that is the important thing. Check out this article for more info

For a tv, I bought a 40" 1080i RCA Smart tv. I just use it for gaming and some movies/youtube. Cost me around $360. :p I'm not hard to please.
