Well I just talked to my dad who is pretty knowledgeable about the law and it looks like I'm in the clear. The cops didn't have me sign anything that stated I was in possession of the car, they just took my name down to show that they released it to me and parked it in the driveway so they could show they didn't have the vehicle. It's still screwed up they took all his stuff out of his room and basically stole his car but there's nothing I can do about it.

Spider-Aziz. Your avatar is Ryu from Street fighter? yes?

Well that's good to know. I hope it all works out for your friend and he gets his stuff back. :(

and your avy is when you're high on Colombia's finest export.

What makes it even more crappy is he lost his job awhile back so not only does he not have a place to love, had his car basically stolen, as well as not having much money in the bank. It's a really crappy situation all the way around for him. I wish there was more I could do for him but I can't cause problems for myself to help him out y'know?

I love a perfect bus run. I caught the bus both ways without having to wait. With the FL sun that makes it all the more sweet

DJ, it sounds like he's going to have to sue them since they took everything he owned and aren't likely to give it back without a fight. Do you know if he is still paying them rent during his time in jail?

He's not in jail, he was hospitalized for a mental breakdown. And I think the reason they took his stuff was because he didn't pay rent, it's just a screwed up situation. I never would have thought they would do something like this especially since she is a big Mormon church person. Typical hypocrite though I guess

EDIT: and he has barely been gone a week

Is he still paying rent/still covered by his last rent payment?

No I believe his rent was due on the first but he was hospitalized before the rent became due

this is still going on? the people straight up stole your roommates possessions. call the police. If you don't want the cops involved... go to them and tell them the cops will be called if they don't return every piece of stolen property.

Disney are going crazy. They're turning all the classic avitaminosis in to live action movies. Next up is Pinocchio.

I'd let him know what's going on so he can be ready for it when he gets out. Personally I'd move out asap as they might get the idea to just start taking your stuff when you go to work because it worked on the last guy. I wouldn't trust that jackasses further than I could throw them.

Well that was unproductive, I just took like a 6 hour nap. Hopefully I'm not up all damn night. I gotta correct my sleep schedule since I start my new job on Monday

I don't have anyway to let him know, as far as I know he is still in the psych ward and he would have to have put me on a list so I could contact him which I don't he did. As far as moving that's not an option right now.

They might not let you tell him even if you tried if they think it might upset him too much. No way of knowing how stable he is just yet.

Exactly Squeeks, when the cops take you in for a Baker Act it's only for 72 hours but he has been there much longer than that which leads me to believe he isn't doing well in there

Well that sucks on both counts. These people seem like the type to steal from the renters then boot them when they cause a fuss. I'd get gone ASAP, when money permits of course. I had a friend in that situation, they had stuff stolen and when they set up a camera they got the landlord on tape wandering in and rooting through their stuff. They went to the cops and got evicted and they couldn't get a decent apartment because the landlord wouldn't give a reference or he'd lie to the people who called.

Honestly I have never had a problem with them and I know they never come in my room. Been here 2 years and never had an issue. I just can't believe they are doing this to that guy. The rent is cheap and I have more pressing issues I need to deal with my money before I think about leaving. Just blows my mind that they consider themselves good Mormons, I'm tempted to call them out for being hypocrites but don't feel like causing trouble
