Both have their advantages. It depends on how skilled the weilder is at using them.

you can pretty much fit the world in your image with the time gem, but anyone who's watched that one Simpsons Halloween episode when Homer goes back in time can tell you that there's always a lot of unwanted consequences.

at least with the space gem I get to play basketball with the Looney Tunes.
