The James Franco/ Harry Osborn Thread

now that we know harry is not gg2/hobgoblin i really like the part he will be playing, especially the sword. i think it is cool that he is using his fathers weapons but is not a rehash of his father. i think it works in the comics, but to the average movie goer it would be repetitive for only the 3rd movie. im excited!

Man, I really hope he has a great iconic death...

Probably to save Peter from Venom & Sandman and die from the serum.

Saving Your best friend's life from two Major Powerful villians Is pretty heroic . Harry will have a Great Heroic Death .

Yeah, but I hope he is a major character in the film besides his death. Even if he and Pete really only have two fights (glider Harry vs. Peter Parker in which Peter barely escapes and sword fighting Harry vs. symbiote Peter in which we all know symbiote Peter ****s Harry up big time) and one ends with a decisive victory. However I still hope as to see Harry play a major part of what turns Peter dark and being very manipulative of Peter's anguish until Peter goes ape**** on Harry and in the hospital MJ kinda' sets Harry straight.

I just hope he doesn't come off like just a plot thread Raimi is trying to write off to make room for Sandman, who while visually cool as very little character merit to him (hence him stealing part of the Lizard's origin and one of Lizard's best stories as well as being placed in Spidey's origin now).

Actually it does: Harry died from a serum OD in the comics.

I like the idea of the serum OD in the flick. How about this scenario: Harry puts off taking the serum throughout the movie because he assumes (correctly) that it was what drove Norman nuts - and no matter how much he wants revenge, Harry doesn't want to become a pumpkin-bomb-throwing, laughing maniac who kidnaps girls and chucks them off bridges. So Harry opts out of the serum, and gets his a$$ kicked by Spidey a few times. Later, he's sitting around watching the news, when he sees the report that Spidey is getting the crap kicked out of him by Venom and Sandman. Harry has a change of heart and wants to help his old buddy, but he knows there's no way he can face Sandman and Venom. But if he takes the serum, he stands a chance. So he quickly rushes into his pop's old hideout, grabs a tube of goblin serum - how much should he take? he wonders, but there's no time to check his father's notes, so he downs a bunch, which turns out to be too much....

But in the movies it might.
Remeber in Spider-man 1 where Norman
almost dies, flatlines and Dr. Strohm has to
give him CPR

.........back to formula?

I don't think Raimi will f-up Harry's death - he's not on the ball with everything, but he seems to do right by character arcs. The comic storyline of Harry's death is perfect for translation to the screen - I see no reason to stray.

You know this is something I've kinda wondered. One of Harry's biggest struggle is not with Peter, but more so with his father, he never got any closure on the subject.

I was thinking last night it would be pretty sad if Harry has a dream and his father is in it, ala Uncle Ben style in Spidey 2, but it would be interesting to see Norman say stuff to him like I've always loved you, and stuff along the lines that he knows that Harry has more strength then even he did, and that revenge is not the way to go *kidna goes with the story of Peter and revenge* and maybe then Harry wakes up and grabs his gear to go help Peter in the final battle.

I know I did not make it sound dramatic, but I bet you could have a good scene there, and I think it needs to be done so we can see closure between Harry and Norman.

That would make Norman too sympathetic. It wouldn't make much sense because Norman told Harry at the end of Spider-Man 2, to avenge him.

yeah, norman's a complete bada$$, i don't think that would work too well.

I wonder if Harry is alive like Norman, in the comics? Probably the casket switcheroo? Or someone did CPR in the hospital or something...anyone?
