The James Franco/ Harry Osborn Thread

I disagree, watch the begining of Spider-man, Norman is not a loon until the goblin serum messes with his brain causing insanity. He did love his son, you could tell when they were in the car at the begining of the first one.

Second, he was not talkin gto Norman in Spider-man 2. That is really just Harry's guilt, subconsious that is feeding his anger that he failed his father and was not good in his eyes. The Norman we saw in Spidey 2 is not Norman himself but just a conjuring of the mind by Harry. To me it would be cool to have peace with that, because that IS one of Harry's biggest struggles. We can't deny that.

Harry's mind is being warped, by his alcoholism, and just his conscious.

Spot-on, Solidus.

Nicely put.

Good call.

Plus, Movie!Norman isn't the same as Comic!Norman - we have to remember that. C!Norman was a real jerk - esp to Harry, and a criminal before he took the serum. But his movie counterpart isn't as bad and seemed more like a guy who just didn't know how to appreciate and love the son he had.

yeah that was good

Yea I agree that the comic book Norman was more so evil then the movie counterpart, which I actually enjoyed the change. I think it made the story more complex when it comes to Harry's turn.

I just believe it is something I would like to see the book closed on. Yes a lot of Harry's hate is towards Peter, but we have to remember why, because his Father did not show him the appreciation he did his work, or other people such as Peter. No matter what Harry did in the first one his father did not give him the thumbs up. So Harry has always felt like a bad son, in Spidey 2 he tried to do it as a buisness man, make his father proud by making OsCorp famous beyond his fathers dreams. But when that failed, and he found out everything he did in "2" it became more towards a turn to violence.

I believe besides helping Peter in the end, mainly the fights between Harry and Peter will be more....not public is the best way to put it. It will be more personal fights then what we have witnessed before.

For the record, NOrman wasn't a complete ******* in SM1 when he wasn't insane (though he sure was in the comics) but he was stil not a very nice guy. He was a selfish businessman. There were hints he never paid attention to his son, which he didn't. He'd rather be on the phone and though he never called him weak, he implied it and mentally abused Harry. Look at that scene in the Jetta again or at graduation how he acknowledges he didn't think Harry could graduate high school and blows him off to talk to his son. He'll chastize his son but praise Peter. And then on Thanksgiving he blows his son off and mocks her girlfriend (though the Goblin may have provoked him saying that the way he said it was NOrman as the personalities were merging at this point and you could see the way he looked at MJ when they met that was his reaction). He even admits he has been a terrible father before he dies to Harry (making his death all the more painful for Harry because Norman thought he'd "change.").

And that image of Norman in the mirror was in Harry's head but it was what NOrman had done to Harry for 18 or 19 years subtely and he abused his son to end up at this state, really.

as per front page franco has sed hes gonna be back on set for reshoots cuz sam wants more action....hmmmm

yeah i think he might die like he does in the comics.

i wouldnt mind seeing harry really become an alcoholic on top of his growing psychosis and serum taking, kinda going back to the comic roots of messing with drugs

That could work. It added a great touch to the second movie in the party scene. I think his character had the most intersting arc so far, I hope they'll keep it up.

i agree that the party scene in SM2 is by far one of the best scenes in the movie, sure theres no big fights or sweet CGI, but it is where the crap hits the fan!

Lol. I'm trying to stay spoiler-free, but I hope he won't die...

-ARG- not again. Every charater I support ends up dead. :(
Yeah Cap - I think you're screwed again. (I remember you from the Cyke thread).

Though I think Harry will get proper justice. It's part of his arc.

I can't believe all you crazy people haven't said anything about the reshoots being done so they can change back to the GG costume...

I'm hoping that they do.. not that I have any EXTREME problems with the new suit but I really don't think that Raimi or Sony are gonna change anything like outfits. I;m thinking that we are gonna see another cameo by the Goblin talking to Harry. Thus far its only been verified that Franco is going back and why not keep a scene like that under wraps from as many people as possible? I think bringing Norman back would also be a major crowd pleaser.

The re-shoots of Franco in SM3 make me think that Raimi has listened to all the snowboardfer stuff...

Hey Farren. Yeah I guess Harry is in better hands than Cyke was...
