I know a lot of posters I've talked to are able to visit the Hype while at work. That got me curious as to what each Hypester does for a living.

So, since I didn't notice one, I figured I'd start a thread to see what people on the Hype do to get paid.

Just tell people what you do, and, if you want, tell a bit about your job (how you got into it, how long you've been doing it, what it is you do, etc).

I'll start things off...

I'm a cook by trade. I mainly do catering jobs (from standard parties to high society galas), but I just got hired on at a local hotel. I've done line work in restaurants, and got into the profession a few years back. Went to a culinary program at a technical school last year to learn more and hone my skills, and graduated earlier this year.
Out of the restaurant business and catering, I've got to say catering is my favorite. Looking forward to taking my first step into hotel kitchens, which I've heard is a completely different animal.

So, what about you? What do you all do for a living?

I'm a programming director for local radio. Not too thrilling, but I meet some interesting people. Basically I set up our weekend shows to play later, I take music calls from promoters and do some on-air work.

Sweet. Radio work always looked enjoyable to me. My buddy was an intern on the Bubba the Love Spong show here in the Tampa Bay area and I got to go with him to the 98 Rock station a few times. Got to meet Jim Brewer once while I was there (he is one burnt out mofo :o).
I imagine you've gotten to meet some fairly famous people in your time in the radio biz?

Right now I work selling furniture.

Use to run, but now work at a company the imports footwear from China and into the U.S. to companies such as Skechers, Baby Phat, Wal-Mart & K-Mart. I have alot of input and it is fun because I get to design and then sell my own product. As a secondary source of income, I also am a screenwriter.

As you can see I spend alot of time on the computer...

I'm unemployed, at the moment. I quit my job at Lowe's in the paint department, and I'm going to move soon. No monies for meeeeee. :csad:

Documentary filmmaker. Right now I am doing a piece on and educational program. I don't know how long this is going to last though. I'm trying to break into work on fictional films. I've written two films that are going to get produced and will even be directing one, but I won't be getting paid for it. So in the mean time I'm hammering away at this bread and butter work.

Business development manager at CDW, which everyone already knows about. I have a book of clientele that contact me when they need IT assistance, and I provide...if I'm in a good mood that day.

I would love to see Ice-man job threads, lol.
Why's that?

So you're one of the guys who keep the Chinese sweatshops in business then. :oldrazz:

I'm gonna apply at Best Buy, in hopes of leaving my current job at Dunham's Sports.

Senior Systems Analyst for a Hospitality Software company.

I know my **** when it comes to games/movies, son.

Used to be big time white collar corporate worlder working in sales in the mortgage, car and garment industry. Got involved in a business venture a few years ago that opened the doors for my business partner/best friend and I to partner up with two friends in Michigan on a record label. We're opening the Chicago office of what they've already been laying the groundwork for there. All in all, the four of us are partnering on a number of ventures including an property investment group.

Basically, I end up with free time throughout the day so I'd rather hang out here from time to time instead of watching television ...

After seeing all his school/help me with homework threads, I wonder what he'd be like in the real working world.
Ah, ok. If it's that bad, then a job(s) thread would definitely be entertaining.

Good thing about BB is the employee discount. It's always good to pick up games and movies for cheaper than normal prices.

I'm unemployed as well for the time being (been on suuplemental income for the last few years). I've been wanting to turn my Photoshop skills into a freelance career; just not sure where to start.

I've had a variety of jobs in the past few years. All of them either in the journalism field or manual machining industry. Right now, I work as a part-time reporter for a small radio station in Elberton, Georgia while I work at a machine shop by day. Wether it's turning something on a lathe or covering a city council meeting. I'm the man for the job.
