Plus the movie is not that violent, it is mostly disturbing in a realistic way.

Who in your opinion is more frightening Phoenix or Ledger?Just saw it at tiff. Joaquin Phoenix’s joker is... unpredictable.
The movie is a complete refresh of the genre.
Some (few) funny moments ala Todd Phillips, it breaks the tension in such a good way.
And that ending, it stays with you, think it’s gonna cause great debates.
I mean it ain’t full of massacre, the size is small in scale but has great impact because of it.You're lying.
It's a ticking time bomb which threatens to pull our society apart by the seams!!!

That is what I intended to say by realistic way.
I mean, Joaquin Phoenix’s joker is the most scary only because you can’t have real connection with him, he ain’t seems to be there at all. He doesn’t overact craziness, he’s just weird, awkward and in a complete other world, which I think is disturbing. Plus Arthur Fleck is a believable person, and that is kind of haunting.Who in your opinion is more frightening Phoenix or Ledger?
That Time review accused Phoenix of “overacting.”On the bright side, at least there hasn't been someone stupid enough to call Phoenix's Joker performance bad.
Yet.

My bad, didn’t get it at all.Haha mate, I was just making fun of the critics giving this negative reviews![]()

Oh c'mon. The purring is a classic Joker trait, not to mention the slow and loud wheeze that barely resembles a laugh. That's Mr. J right there.I hope The Joker doesn’t smack his lips too much![]()

I'm remembering wrong, sorry. Let me see MCGreen Book was almost 90% before some "backlash". Bandwagoner critics will tell you otherwise, but yeah.
And won TIFF.

Heaven forbid we have movie-going experiences that are not just about entertaining the viewers but tackling serious mental and social issues. How am I supposed to have any fun with that?!"Even when I laughed, I hated myself for doing so. There’s nothing funny about mental illness. There’s just no fun in this film. Maybe a few of Murray Franklin’s jokes but that’s the extent of it."

Danielle Solzman,
Close enough

Next Joker should be a combination of all the previous live action Jokers. He's got a mustache, perma smile, smacks his lips, purrs, balding, and John Wayne Gacy makeup.I hope The Joker doesn’t smack his lips too much![]()
